Re: Modules to perform live "Channel/Tracks Muting"
Believe it or not there might be an even more elegant solution forthcoming.... Prey do tell..... I had someone design this module in PSPICE and show the simulation and behavior of the switches relative to the clocks. However Kay added a new firmware beta to the Schleussig that accomplishes the same...

Re: Announcing 1010music toolbox
Ahh great, I'm glad to see they too a lot of user requests into consideration... oh wait, no one asked for cell layers. I don't think anyone asked for envelopes. The biggest things that were wrong with 2.0, muting when touching a cell, no + and - preset increment/decrement keys, and no deterministic...

Re: 1010music modular - cautionary tale
No one told me the Toolbox was basically a beta product when I bought it. It was marketed as a fully-featured sequencer, not an in-development module. Firmware updates were promised and while there are have been a few, and then one major upgrade that broke much functionality and seemed to go in an e...

I run a MSCL in limiter mode at the insert of my mixer as the last thing in my chain.

AD8200 gives you 8 channels of input, decent preamps, and the ADC's sound as good as things twice the price.

Re: Doepfer A-180-9 ethernet module - experiences sending audio?
How is your crosstalk between adjacent channels? It's actually really minimal. I have more channel bleed in my sub mixers (Mutagen) so the ethernet signal is keeping very good separation. I just bought my cables on amazon, again I thought 25' might be pushing it for CV for pitch but it's been fine....

I'm using cat8 cable with mine and I have zero trouble with audio or pitch-CV droop. 25' of cable.

Re: Vocoder modules
I'm a bit of a vocoder junky and while this is outside the rack, the EHX256 is one of the best I have used. It's a pedal but has phantom power and a bunch of different number of band modes, super lush, sounds great for a digital box. I also have the E520 but haven't tried the vocoder out yet. I have...

Re: Jove vs Frequensteiner
By "out of hand" I did not mean self-oscillation, and to that end the FS will do that at the highest position. That said, when it does self-oscillate, it does so in a fairly clean, sine-like manner whereas the Jove becomes nonlinear quicker at high res and more sensitive to gain IMHO. The Jove will ...

Re: Jove vs Frequensteiner
I haven't used the AMSynths modules, not any of them, although they promise to be accurate emulations. The only circuit-accurate emulation I have used is the VCF303 which is indeed super-accurate, having the built-in EG that is critical to the 303 sound, but I digress. The Jove is exactly what it so...

Re: Jove vs Frequensteiner
Yeah the one I would try at the shop is something complex FM like Braids WTFM or something similar into the jove, set at 24dB, the res at medium and start playing with the gain and cutoff. The gain is actually pretty important on the jove as it changes the character, like most filters. You can overd...

Re: mix outputs to DAW for recording
It's fine, it's not immensely higher, plenty of people on here do precisely that. Modular is 10v p-p, line level is around 3.5v p-p, most synths put out that kind of level, some even higher. If your interface/mixer can't handle +12db w/o trouble it's probably not worth having. "Line level" or instr...

Re: mix outputs to DAW for recording
A very good option would be the Tascam Model 16 or Model 24. These mixers are analog style but have full 16 or 24ch in/out capability to the computer. You can reroute the DAW back to the mixer with a simple knob switch on each channel strip. This creates a highly useful analog console that can recor...

Re: How does Optomix compare to the LxD for Buchla Bongo type percussive sounds?
The TW is the closest you'll get to Buchla sounds in Euro IMHO. I've had the OptoMix, QMMG, A-102-1, TW, LxD, Borg 2. The TW is a nice midway sound between the aggressiveness of the QMMG and the pure boringness of the OptoMix (I hate it because it kills high end as a VCA and never sounded that good ...

Re: How does Optomix compare to the LxD for Buchla Bongo type percussive sounds?
Owned both, kept the LxD. The LxD top side is more aggressive and plucky while the optomix is super bland and I hated it, but for some people they really like its sound. The Thomas White is another LPG you might look at, it's a a copy of a Buchla and while the vactrols aren't the exact same, they so...

Re: WMD DPLR vs TipTop Audio Echoz
Echoz isn't FV-1 nor does it sound like it. The fidelity is higher but directly controllable, generally the algorithms are pretty good. I have the DPLR and prefer the Echoz to it. I also have like 12 other delays.

Re: Need advice. Powering my new rack (Doepfer)
Nah not really re: boxed headers. If the power supply is good it should be fine. Make sure you double-check all your mains wiring and verify your bus board is +12/-12 with a multimeter just in case. The Doepfer supplies and bus boards are just fine.

I have an Mbase 11 and a Modbase. They seem a little different to me, not tremendously, but slightly. I feel like the Modbase is slightly bigger-sounding, again not by a huge amount. They both really do a good electronic kick.

Re: End-of-chain Compressor/Limiter Options
MSCL. Stereo. Works great as a limiter, really helps in a performance setting, is small and easy to use. BTW, I can tell you from having two RNC's, they are not 'really nice' once I got some better gear. You can get a Symmetrix 425 for under 100 a lot of times and it's a world better than the RNC, w...
