Re: Second SQ-1 - why do I feel slightly embarrassed?
I've got two, they're really playable, tons of fun features, slide etc. and versatile for the price. They also act as great expanders for some of the other things I have (e.g. adding an offset to Dark Time or Doepfer Quantiser). I tend to turn them on more than the DT and waaaay more than my BSP. Ho...

Re: blippoo box
The diagram shows many things going to RES. Using two benjolin v2s and a Epoch v1, and a v2 Twin Peaks the RES does not seem to have any significant contribution to the sound. 1v/oct on the other hand does put it in similar territory. My understanding is that Res on a Blippoo is actually the CV for...

Re: Gear you own multiples of.
Lot of great responses here, curious if those who have multiple 303 style boxes actually use them simultaneously. Seems like a narrow range of sounds and it could be difficult to get them sitting in the mix together. Do you do a polyphonic thing or is this about the workflow? Perhaps separate effec...

Re: What is the critical mass of a synthesizer?
The tipping point for me is often found when I end up with (for me) too much stuff and I purge it back to a small 'core' set of modules. Over time I've aquired new things and I've repeatedly thinned out my system (instrument?) with some key modules staying constant. My rule for 'aquiring things' is ...

Re: Gear you own multiples of.
I've got two Nord MicroModulars and a G1 Keyboard!
I almost never turn the G1 Keys on but the MMs see quite a lot of use.
Other doubles:
2 x SQ1
2 x Faderfox LV1
2 x JamMan Express XT

Re: Book recommendations on synthesis techniques / sound design
The Nord Modular Book by JJ Clark is great: While the examples are illustrated using modules available in the Nord G1, they're a solid foundation on a range of approaches to synthesis. Available as web pages and PDF https://www.cim.mcgill.ca/~clark/nordmodularbook/nm_book_toc.html http://www.cim.mcg...

Fancyyyyy and SuperPang have been amazing in 2020. I think there'll be even more amazing stuff to c...

Halfway through the year the netlabel Superpang focusing on mostly experimental/extreme electronic and computer music appeared, with at least weekly releases since then... some really strong (noisy) stuff! https://superpang.bandcamp.com/ My particular favourite though was Carrier Dynamics by Phil Ju...

Re: Max 8 and Mira Controlling Morphagene
Thanks for that, I've just picked up an ES-8 to try to bring my two worlds of Max and Modular together again (I previously had an ES3/6 Combo, but didn't use them too much). You've perhaps found this out by now, but tolerances in ES outputs generally mean that if you were to use a different output y...

no one seems to have mentioned these https://www.addacsystem.com/en/products/addac-accessories/addac0016 I've got some of those, from quite soon after they first announced them. Re: LFOs, Envelopes - why no attenuation included?
You may use your modulation sources differently to me, but I use mine as one-to-many (one source, many destinations) and so it suits me to be able to apply different amounts/inversions in different ways. I do often have a master level that you describe, but the main issue in Euro (for example) is th...

Inspired by this I bought a Stokyo Kutter, a passive crossfader, to use with my modular, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet!
