Re: Gear spotting thread

The Norman Cook Museum, Brighton.

STE and beaten S950s, obviously. Also NS10s, PC-200, an SE mono, Sound Canvas, Proteus, 909, Nord, 606 (?), 303 and Space Echo.

What else? Lots of odds and sods scattered about the place.

SE-02. Seems to be the latest in a long line of Roland synths to go unnoticed.

Managed to buy a 1937 Kemble piano at auction (literally for less than the cost of a single module)
That's beautiful. Yamaha seems to have finally eliminated the Kemble name following the transfer of UK production to Asia.

Polyend is teasing this on the homepage of its website too. Claims it's coming in March 2020.

I wonder if it it's complimentary to the Medusa or supercedes it?

Whether they copy some or all of the circuitry, interface layout, look, and or form factor of an existing instrument to emulate or recreate characteristics of that instrument it can be called a "clone." It doesn't necessarily have to have all of those things to be one. Clone should mean 'identical'...

Glen Darcey, the main product development guy behind Hydrasynth, is based in LA. Headhunted from Arturia by Medeli.

Expanding on the theme, the dependency of the world on China for electronics may be tested by the coronavirus outbreak depending on whether or not it is contained.

Sounds like more unacceptable behaviour to me. Mind you, I thought that about Malekko's range switch on the Roland 510 but some don't seem to mind.

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.

Ten beh threads (on the overview page) are way to much - it's time to activate a beh-filter - or a spring cleaning! Otherwise this forum getting closer to GS... That's the problem for Muffs' self-identity and it's only going to get worse. If Behringer isn't corralled in its own sub-forum (a possibl...

What PR do they need to do before they start selling these to more people? I'd rather they focus on getting the thing done now and worry about PR later.
Clearly that's the path Superlative is pursuing, but keeping investors informed with regular updates is generally a good idea.

Re: new Malekko Grooveboxes!

My theory would be that the Manther did not sell to well which in return makes them hesitant (from a 'business case or if things are more serious perhaps even balance sheet pov) to continue with this form factor. You could be right. The Manther had one of the most difficult launches of recent times...

Thanks. Be nice to have some more soundclips but getting production together will be their main challenge right now. Though I see from Kickstarter they did manage a dayout at the Vintage Synthesizer Museum in Oakland!

B are clearly going after big well known vintage products--those making interesting new products should be fine.
How does that explain the Crave's similarity to the Mother-32?

Re: new Malekko Grooveboxes!

These are innovative new products. Will always be a market for that. Really hope they release the wavtable one eventually :/ I hope so too, but almost every video comments or forum thread contains someone saying, 'Nah, I’ll wait until Behringer does it for US$200'. It's the new market paradigm like...

Also I'd be amazed if there isn't an existing low-price container already out there that couldn't be adapted with a bit of imagination. Re: Squarp Pyramid - New sequencer etc.

When I look at today's hardware sequencers I find it depressing that 30+ year old designs such as the MSQ-700 and MMT-8 have much better ergonomics. Apart from storage and resolution there seems to have been a profound design regression; ease of use is very under-valued.

I thought it was in the current firmware (2.02) but perhaps not. There's a v2.04 beta out there, which I haven't tried yet. Don’t think there's any wavetable smoothing, but Polyend says it allows 'the Medusa MPE pads to play another instrument and play the internal synth engine with an external con...
