Thank you for the reply, George. Take your time, retirement is an important time in our lives. Best wishes. :tu: (unsubscribed - not mad or having a hissy fit - just trying to keep my number of subscribed threads under better control - if you wish to correspond please feel free to send me a PM, I'l...

In regards to the DIY ASR Quad Envelope Kit, do you get everything you need to build this device, or do you only get the PCB? The webpage for ordering is down until May. Just curious. Thanks That's because I'm in the process of retiring. Apparently, according to my wife, that means she believes tha...

That was a lot time ago but I pretty much learned that you need to check pinouts for transistors before substituting them... :hihi: I ended up figuring that by myself but I had a lot of support from Mr. Mattson himself, who is very responsive if you contact him via email. Anyway, it's a great littl...

Re: somthing different
Octal VCA. Dual 4X1 mixers. 4X2 mixer. Balanced +6dbm output. Tried to emulate George's super compact wiring style, took 20hrs of bench work to wire the panel. I have a whole new appreciation of the MM layout, you are a sick man Mr. Mattson, and thank you. Unit is based on 2 quad VCA cards and 2 Me...

I stuck the ply film in there, no dice. I'm going through now and checking all the resistors to be sure I didnt bork any of those. Though of course in a few places with megaohm resistors it seem my probes are finding a cheaper path around that resistor. I'm also going to re-wet a bunch of the joint...

control them... in any way :) from a daw /sequencer.. the manufacturers method firstly.. or any people have found. You won't be able to using the standard 1V/O "standard". EML was a bunch of engineers. 12 semitones/Octave. They assigned 0.1V/semitone to control their VCOs. So, 1.2V/O. ARP and Moog ...

ok.. just a simple basic question.. been trying to get my 101 to sequence.. where are you meant to start? i have had some joy with trigger and modulation inputs.. the keyboard input looks the correct place but nothing has any effect from that..got odd ring mod sequences going.. and ticks :) my mode...

Okay I passed my Certification exam. I can spare some time to mess with this again. Pulled all the chips. Plugged in to my tester supply, looked up the pinouts of the chippies. The pins of the TL074 and the 4011 are showing the right supply voltages at least. Also ground seems to be working everywh...

well after a busy last 4 or 5 months I'm going to be revisiting this and my bricked MST VCO. I think I am going to start by checking the diodes and lytic caps. I've noticed that the lytics in the pic on the build page are quite a bit large than the ones that I used. (I did PCB/panel) I am wondering...

Re: MST resistor values
working on the LFO, VCO, and CV Mixer PCBs. the BOMs call for a number of hyper-specific (4.99k, 33.6k, ect) resistor values. anyone know how essential it is to nail these values? I guess I don't mind rifling through my 5%ers to find these values or just buying them from synthrotek, i'm just a bit ...

Alright, I threw around 9 cents worth of parts at it, it was still intermittent. THATs when I figured out I forgot to solder one of the headers. So now I have 2 rather fine MST Dual envelopes working, one still to get working, but you know... Meatloaf. Anyway No. 3 will have to wait till next...

[quote="Maxx mayhem"[/quote] I verified the polarity, the module worked for a few minutes before failing. Am I looking for a broken trace somewhere? I have no idea what you're looking for. The dozen or so I built all worked. Start posting pix of both sides of both boards. Maybe a second set of eyes ...

OK so now I am thinking the problem is that the caps I'm using (blowing) are 25V. The BOM sends you to Mouser for 50v caps, so that is my next step. I doubt if the cap voltage is the issue. Polarity on the electrolytics I'd believe. If they're backward, they'll blow. The highest voltage in the EG i...

Thanks for the troubleshooting info. When I have time to get to my bench I'll fire up the scope and DMM and check out the particulars. Yeah that pic is not me, that is taken from the synthrotek site to show how jammed up the chips are on their example. I was just kind of concerned that the chips ar...

So I pulled mine apart and went over it checking the polarity of everything. All good. I added the jumpers I'd missed as well. Still not firing up. I just get a steady voltage out of the outputs, and I can mess with it with the level knobs or by flipping the inv/5v switch. Gate input and other cont...

One minor aggravation (especially since you do not provide a schematic). It would be good if the transistor diagrams on the PCB showed the emitter. From what I understand the MST modules are designs licensed from Mattson Modular. So Synthrotek can not supply a schematic. Yes this sucks for troubles...
