Re: Vocoder modules
L-1 has a pretty awesome traditional 24-band analog vocoder. Not cheap by any stretch, but L-1 stuff is incredible quality. You can get this DIY if you're brave. I have a PCB/panel set I haven't started on yet. Best part about this module is you can get it with the Muff Wiggler cats on the panel! ht...

Re: Solder Removal
I use a Hakko FR-301 It's spendy but I've never damaged a compnent with it..and the sheer amount of time saved is worth it alone. I'm still learning but the first time I saw another tech use one, he recapped all the voice boards on a Memorymoog in under an hour, casually while we were talking..I kn...

@igorrr - I see that the 3xMIA are back in stock at Analogue Haven in the US. Are there any plans for another shipment of the 3xVCA to the US as well?

Re: Modular Addict taking a break?
I'm getting a bit concerned as well. If nothing else, they have links to important build docs on there. Even if they're not selling right now, it would be good to have access to those. It would be really nice if they'd post some kind of honest statement about what's going on.

Re: Random Source LEDs
I'm trying to recollect, as it's been a couple of years since I built mine. I don't think Mouser or Digikey have low-current amber LEDs. If you are willing to go with orange, Digikey has one that meets the specs (5mm, 2mA forward current): https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/kingbright/WP7113L...

Re: Modular Addict taking a break?
Whatever's going on, it's not a good look. At very least put a real explanation on the landing page rather than some ambiguous attempt at humor. I've been dealing with them successfully for years, but even for me this is off-putting.

Re: FEEDBACK Modules Appreciation!
Looking at some DIY stuff there, and confused, some clearly show thru-hole PCBs, but the BOM states 0603? Like the LO-Fusion VCF, I'd prefer 0805 over TH and suck at 0603. Not sure what ya get with these. The Lo-Fusion is through-hole only as far as I know. Some of the modules, like Static, have bo...

They've shown a pin matrix prototype (or at least part of one) for the Synthi clone, so they may be able to leverage that technology for this. Assuming either actually gets built.

Re: Best first SMD build?
Like others on here, I can give another vote for NLC. Ian Fritz's Hypster was my first. Good layout, parts not too small, and well-documented. It was a surprisingly easy process, and it made me wonder why I had put off learning SMD for so long.

Andrei,
What is the correct value for R6? The board says 39K, but the build documentation and BOM specify 10K.

A-171-2 VC Slew is brilliant given the amount of manual and CV control you have in a module that's only 8hp.

Re: "paradigm shift" modules from your experience
For me early on it was function generators. Understanding the links between envelopes, LFOs, slew, sequencers, and (at audio rate) oscillators was huge for me. I came from hardware synthesizers, so I had a very conventional, East-coast understanding of signal paths. I've had other moments since then...

Synth-Werk in 5U.
But in Euro: Livewire (the best, heavy feel, plenty of space), L-1, random*source, and Cwejman (the smoothest feeling)

Re: Moog Matriarch and Eurorack
I'm a keys player by nature, so the Matriarch is for me just about the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm using it mostly on its own at the moment, testing its sound and self-patching capabilities. I've done a bit of external routing so far, mostly running the oscillators through other filters. ...

Re: Downsizing questions
Hi wigglers, I've decided to downsize my MU modular. You could just get a stool to reach the upper cabinet. I would agree with others in saying, try to sell it first as a system. You basically have a complete voice + sequencer, so that's attractive right there. Then I'd think about the market. Peop...
