Re: Makenoise QMMG is back

I think I got the last retail unit way back...the filter resonance really is special.

Re: Help me fix my interface (or not)

I optimized my computer recently when I was up late. I knew I had high latency but my audio card was stable enough for my computer but now I'm running at a half the buffer and it is better than ever. The problem was that I let misc. audio drivers run in the background, like the mobo and video card o...

That Trackspacer program uses 32 band EQ so you don't get to modulate attack and release which is very useful I think, not to mention the 100 bands you get with the other vocoders.

Re: "Antivocoder": does it exist ? ( a spectral "ducking" device ;) )

Looking again at the mvocoder modules for us non-programmers.. Not only does it have a band matrix, there are band graphs to change things like attack, release, etc. I never quite realized how deep this got. I'll have to take another test drive soon.

Re: "Antivocoder": does it exist ? ( a spectral "ducking" device ;) )

That's it! Now who is going to give us a sample?? Inversion and Dual inversion modes are similar to Vocoder and Dual vocoder modes, but the envelopes are inverted, so instead of keeping the frequencies in carrier which are dominant in modulator they keep the frequencies which are not dominant in mod...

Re: "Antivocoder": does it exist ? ( a spectral "ducking" device ;) )

Well, I still think two vocoders will do the trick but those are limited to 100 bands. I've looked and couldn't find more. I don't own MVocoder but it is also 100 bands and with more options than Lector so take a look at the manual. Spec Ops won't do any sidechaining or spectral transforming so that...

Re: "Antivocoder": does it exist ? ( a spectral "ducking" device ;) )

You would need a purpose built vocoder for this. In hardware you could probably wire it up. For software, I use Waldorf's Lector which can have up to a 100 bands. You could use the output of one vocoder to modulate the original carrier and that should achieve what you want but not ideal.

It sounds like you need a multiband compressor. Some VSTs allow sidechaining to a specific band.

Re: Polyphony/legato sense check (and hello)

I know it's possible but it's clunky and kind of a poor use of the modular. A monophonic line can be so expressive as we have discussed. I've definitely enjoyed experimenting with retriggering on the kenton midi2cv as well as modulating envelopes in fun ways like Pelsea mentioned. Just doing a duoph...

Re: Polyphony/legato sense check (and hello)

In that case, switch between a monophonic mode and a polyphonic one, maybe at the midi level. It seems like this is all theory to you so I must tell you what others will agree with: polyphony on the modular is not going to happen, especially with such particular constraints. You also want 16 notes w...

I bought a Prism Lyra and a Lynx Hilo a few months ago to try and answer this question myself.
I wouldn't expect to hear a difference. Those are both top-notch converters. I'd keep the Lynx..

These threads are important because it shows that they are going to keep missing out on sales. Whether that matters to the company is another story.. I avoid this kind of nonsense too.

It does get easier for sure like all things we practice. That's another reason to just move on and keep making music. The most prolific in life are generally the most successful.

I get it..doesn't everyone feel uncomfortable with their voice? I've been given the same advice and come to accept it. I still drown them in a ton of effects but then dial it back at mix time. Double-tracking is also your friend here.

Re: Hit record...Play like a child.

My wife put a sticky note near my modular that says DON'T FORGET TO RECORD. I'm at the point where nearly everything I record and write gets released (and my fans still like it). It's taken me 20 years to get here but putting aside the ego while working on music is the key. Just a few years ago I wa...

Re: Polyphony/legato sense check (and hello)

Kind of related: I setup up a monophonic bass patch and a duophonic patch with my e370. Sending the same midi to both and using glide for all three voices is wonderful in terms of the happy accidents that happen.

Maybe "One" should have been the first tune :) I do want to say that I would have liked to hear your vocals a little louder. The opening lines are clear so I think you could just use more compression. The human voice needs a ton of it. Cheers!

Re: Polyphony/legato sense check (and hello)

I guess I don't get it. But use a sustain pedal and the midi to cv should go legato on one voice until you unsustain. Not sure about a module that does that though. I don't think my kenton can work that way.

Fucking ASRs. One of my last modules getting dust in my rack. I don't own sequencers, I play everything so the typical use is out for me. What else can I do with this? If you are using any stepped random voltages you can have them cascade to different parameters. I feed a stored random voltage from...

Re: Worng Vector Space vs NLC Let's Splosh

I used to own a JAG which covered similar ground (no longer made) but then I got the Ladik Joystick Math module, which is 4hp, and did more or less the same (less outputs, but similar results). Maybe that's a module that would be of interest? It's in the same area like Splosh and Vector. I remember...
