Re: Alternatives for Batumi? (w. expert firmware)

fwiw, I replaced a Batumi with a Kermit MkIII and I'm happy with the change. there are some button combinations to learn, but they are logical to me, and the screen helps a LOT. it's certainly impossible to forget what mode or waveform your channel is in, or how much it's been attenuated or where i...

Alternatives for Batumi? (w. expert firmware)

Let me get this straight first; I love Batumi. But, as I'm only having a serious patching session, like, once a month (because kids/work/tired)... I forget all the ins and outs in between sessions. It's one of the few modules in my suitcase that I actually need a manual next to. I even have the othe...

Re: Instruo Lion Matrix Mixer

Hmm. I would really like a Euro Hordijk Matrix, but this doesn't seem to be it. It's hard to understand what's going on, with that hidden normalisation and attenuation. I.e. it seems capable, but also complex. I can see myself get lost, trying to understand why something is mixed that I didn't inten...

Re: NE Desmodus Versio

:sb: It arrived!! Just got round to do a small first test, and oh boy, it sounds fantastic! Puts the FX Aid (which I had so far for in-case reverbs) to shame right away. (not very surprisingly) At first sonic glance, it even seems to be in the BigSky ballpark. Which is way more than I expected, as t...

Re: NE Desmodus Versio

Still waiting for mine... Pre-ordered at a local shop that's expecting a batch.
Didn't want to take that overseas transport risk myself...

The demos that are popping up are confirming my choice more and more. I like what I'm hearing/seeing a lot.

There is also https://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/morphagene/
Just drop your splice .wav files, all in your browser.
That is BRILLIANT!

Re: morphagene for non ambient stuff

As a fresh Morphagene owner, I can tell you that setting the markers manually is a PITA. At least on an existing, recorded sample. Once set, you can't even nudge a splice a bit. Oh and, you have to use very specific software for the editing of markers too. (Reaper, which costs 60 bucks) The Loopop "...

Re: Missing Modules in the Format

The main reasons for me to add some Eurorack is sampling, (quality/useable) digital fx, and the broad choice in sequencing options. So I guess those are missing, or at least too minimal. I mean, you can't really do serious (stereo) sample mangling through modulated digital (stereo) reverbs in 5U. Wi...

Re: Create a lightning strike in 5u?

I once achieved a convincing lighting. Modulating the filter resonance was key. Don't remember the patch, though. Must have had noise as input. I think I triggered the whole thing with an envelope. Some free running LFO's to get variation in attack and tail, and movement during strike. Probably some...

Re: NE Desmodus Versio

How do I get this in Europe asap?! The website says random 1 month delays in shipment are possible due to covid-19. I.e. after they send it out. I've always really liked the sound of effects that are interrupted or altered heavily in-flight. I used to do it with sending midi program changes to fx bo...

Re: Your surprised-you-module(s)

I thought somebody would mention the M564, sooner or later. I´ve been guessing it has potential for a lot of different uses, but so far I haven´t let myself be surprised. That is, I´ve only done the sequencer row switching. A 4 step sequence doesn't sound like much, but you can transpose a whole se...

Re: Your surprised-you-module(s)

It's been mentioned before; the MM 564 sequential switch. I quickly realised it could be a 4 step sequencer paired with a dotcom distributor, which gives you 3 static voltages. I also did interesting 4 (or less) part waveforms with it. (Sending an osc, noise, another osc, etc.) In which every part c...

Re: analog quantizer? modcan?

I've had the Modcan quantizer for ages. I've always assumed it's digital because of the bitwise scale selection. I really wanted to be able to decide when a new value was sampled, and around that time, this seemed like one of the few in 5U that could do it. So I could really use it as a sample and h...

Re: Shapeshifter: I’ve tried so hard

Something to keep in mind is that you should never buy a module because of 1 enthusiastic/insane YouTube movie. More often than not the vid is sponsored and shows you the sweet spots, flying over the interface as in auto pilot, cutting out the 10 misses that came before the shown success. (i.e. very...

Will I miss Maths?

When I started Eurorack, Maths was the first thing I got, and I have been very pleased with it as a "multitool". Now that my case is almost full, and I've got plenty of alternatives around for what Maths does, I start to feel it actually takes up a lot of real estate... I often use it as free runnin...

Re: 1uO_c - 4Robots - Ornamnt and Crime for Intellijel 1u row

Just moved to an Intellijel case, and this seemed to be one of the most interesting 1u modules to "top off" my case. I never really liked the original O&C firmware (i.e. on paper), as you'd have to remember what all patchpoints do per application. That will become a flow-killer pretty quickly. The q...

Now for something completely different; I'm on the fence for this filter. @Joranalogue any chance you might share some knowledge about when new batches are entering the shops, if any, and which shops, because all of Europe is out of stock AFAIK, except for Swiss, but if I order there I get taxed and...

Re: Joranalogue FILTER 8 - Multimode Filter/8-Phase Oscillator

Just managed to recreate it, it's actually more like 3-4 semitones and if you leave the filter cutoff at like 9:00 you can also perform melodies just by modulating the decay of the envelope going into the cutoff input on F8, shorter fall time is creating lower notes. Very bizarre. That doesn't soun...

Re: Stereo Triggered Sampler from 4ms

Well, just for the record; 4ms gave my a 1.5Beta firmware which had the option to even have more trigger delay, but that didn't solve the problem. I ended up always needing some slew before the trigger input. 4ms said the trigger delay was actually specifically added to play well with René (v1). I'v...

First results are satisfying... Crush Delay starts up without problems... Curious how the STS will hold up in a session.

I guess I'm gonna end up in the "be sure to have enough headroom" camp.
