Zebra is yin to Prophet 12 yang?

So I recently picked up Zebra on sale, and have to admit I really didn't know much about it or pay it much attention until recently, despite absolutely loving Repro so hard that it was the thing that finally got me into software. (I also later picked up Diva) This relative ignorance of Zebra until r...

Massive X is... weird. You can make some cool sounds with it, but the UI is clunky as hell, and I've made bigger, badder basses with the $7 Union wavetable synth by SoundSpot (which is supposed to be on like 90% intro sale, but still... $7 vs full price Massive X). Meanwhile, Zebra is pretty much ha...

I take him at his word that he only used analog recording gear. He seemed to be "on the spectrum", and despite the fact that his use of drum machines obscures his point about not using samplers or computers, nothing he said seems blatantly inaccurate. But maybe he wasn't as smooth in articulating hi...

Total Eclipse of the Fart... my studio is now complete!

Sorry if this is more of a /r/synthesizers post, but I just had to celebrate somewhere that people might relate. I just won an Eventide Eclipse on eBay, and after all the gnashing and GASing, I truly feel like my studio is complete. :nana:  Sure, I still have some things on my list,...

So glad Jexus did this. Even if he's transcended to a world of a girl and bunnies, we will never forget his contributions. I just sincerely wish someone like Reznor would give him a chance at sound design and/or writing together. His stuff is always so fresh and raw, could breath some life back into...

Some might not consider this proper "ambient", but this is a supercool mashup of a lot of great tracks from Bill Nelson's mid-80s short-form electronica ambient period:

There are also other less minimalistic and more "melodic" sounding Artists, the first coming to my mind is much of the early Output of Severed Heads which used a lot of loops. Yeah but the only real reason Tom used tape loops was because the...

I don’t think artists should be writing press releases for themselves but apparently we now live in a time where self marketing seems to be where many artists put a good portion of their energy and self proclaimed creativity into. Anyone who knows me knows how much I fucking hate artist statements....

I appreciate the approach of folk like AMULETS, Hainbach and Phuritan (among others) whose experimentation with the tape loop as an art form is genuinely intriguing. Unfortunately, it seems to be the latest "go to" method of demonstrating creativity and how "left field" you are and so has become ju...

So yeah, holy shit the OB6 is great. I didn't realize how much I'd be digging the aftertouch. The only problem I have now is that it just dominates the mix. In related news, the 2nd girl invited me to some cult thing. So I bounced. Probably a good call. It's hard to be in more than 1 cult at a time.

I saw him on tour in 2005? 6? Having been a guitar player and metal fan as a teenager, and a Buckethead / Praxis / All things Bill Laswell fan since '93, I was really excited to see him.
