Re: Need more power headers

It largely depends on the power consumption of your "more than 28" modules. Not much point adding more power if the case is supplying enough, in which case just use one of the flying bus aka ribbon cables. Needing more power will obviuosly rule out that option. Power modules are the most flexible so...

Backer 187, wondering if there's any update on how the queue is progressing - the last update estimated they'd all be done by 24 October.
Not too fussed if the schedule has slipped a bit, just wondering where we're up to as things been quiet for a few weeks now...?

... I don't quite understand the Frequency knob on Plaits and other VCO's... Frequency knobs aren't only on modular VCOs...offhand I'm actually battling to think of any synths in my collection that don't have a frequency/tuning knob. At least as far as analogues go anyway. Another Ornament & Crime vote... I've accepted them as about as fundamental as power these days, and have one in each of my "active" racks... I have other Doepfer, uScales and penrose dotted around as well, but o_C has pretty much sewn up the market at least as far as my use-cases go. Maybe you coul...

Re: Any small utility mults out there with both bufferred and unbuffered outputs?

Not quite sure what you mean by "channels" in the is case... by 2 buffered channels, do you mean you want two inputs and the usual 3 outputs PER input, or do you mean one input with 2 output channels? As you can't get it down to less than 2HP whichever way you go, if its the latter case then you may...

Re: Need advice. Powering my new rack (Doepfer)

Right. There it is. I’m going to have to think twice to build once, I guess. I haven’t had any issues (that I know about), and I guess I don’t have any modules that requires 5V, but that might change, and I don’t want to build a case that isn’t somewhat future proof. EDIT: Would one A-100PSU3 be ad...

Re: Need advice. Powering my new rack (Doepfer)

If you're going to the effort of getting a case built, I'd seriously consider ditching the a-100nt12 in favour of something beefier. It's woefully underpowered for modern modules (only 650mA) so unless you are strictly sticking to a few (likely older) analogue modules, you're likely to bump your hea...

Re: Noob: Expanding from a full Mantis to a stack of Behringer Eurorack Racks

There is no one true answer, and the beauty of modular is that it can be changed to suit exactly your needs, and your needs are going to change over time too. Especially in the beginning, just accept and embrace that you're going to be spending a lot of time playing modular tetris. In fact I know so...

With smaller sequencers especially, keep an eye out for ones that have a transpose input. You can off course make up for a lack of one after the fact with a precision adder, (or even a mixer) but having the option built in to use it almost more like an arp by sequencing or modulating the sequencer m...

IIRC the quantizer function wasn't in Tides itself, but was part of the unofficial alternative firmware for Tides called Parasites. Pretty sure Parasites was never updated for Tides 2018 though, so the answer is likely a no.

Re: Patching DJ Scratch sounds?

Depends what you mean by "scratch sounds"... the stereotype is usually focussed on moving the record back and forth, but for a lot of techniques, the other hand is actually the more important... without an actual crossfader, you can get pretty close with a trigger sequencer (or manual trigger/gate) ...

Re: Attenuating output from Intellijel Scales to calibrate VCMC

Think your mental model is a bit off... surely its the input to scales that you should be attenuating?
The job of scales is to round the input voltage to the nearest ~0.083V step, then the VCMC will convert those voltage to notes... so just giving scales an 0-10V input instead should be fine...?

Befaco Stmix is pretty compact and can be chained if you need more channels (or feed into the hexmix system if you want to go all the way) I'm not really sure what "pan" means in the context of a stereo mixer though... https://www.befaco.org/stmix/ A mixer with stereo outputs, where each input chan...

Stumbled across this on youtube last night, such a cool idea, but would kill for a stereo version! Even better if it could be switchable like some stereo filters, so you can use it as dual channel, or set one channel as "master" for stereo use. Don't mean the mono version is redundant either - could...

Kinda wondering if there isn't something else going on here... in light of the "partially inserted" comment, first wondered if it wasn't simply the fact of converting between TS and TRS that was tripping you up? (Not sure where I actually got mine, but there are adapters out there that do keep it TS...

Another complementary unit could be a Vermona DRM1 MKIII with color-coded plastic knobs and/or the 10 analogue gate inputs (triggers). Its dimensions are 19", 5U and it fits perfectly in your rack. That looks like a great machoine, thanks, although it has connections coming out the top which wouldn...

Off topic... or maybe back on topic, the Korg SQ1 has a bit of a less known feature that might apply to the original question and don't get many opportunities to mention it, so I'll derail lol.... Whatever else you add, I'd highly recommend a Disting in there - it can cover bases for things you might not be able to fit in such a limited space, but will give you a ton of options to "do things" a with whatever you eventually decide on. It'll also give you first hand experience of the type of th...
