Re: Buchla 258c (rev.3.0) PCB

I have never sorted JFETs for Idss on any of the 208/258/25S I have either built or repaired. I simply tweak resistor values. Typically it is too much triangle amplitude and the trimmer won't go low enough. There is a resistor voltage divider feeding the trimmer. I usually lower the bottom leg. In ...

Re: Buchla 258c (rev.3.0) PCB

If your sine purity trimmer does not result in an acceptable sine wave then yes, you need a J201 or 2N4339 selected for the desired Idss range. I believe Dave Brown has mentioned changing other parts in the sine shaper but I have zero clue regarding what or how. Edit: Warning, there are fake 2N4339 ...

Re: Help Identify This Vactrol?

Stereo vactrol-based volume controls require devices matched for curve. Offset matching is for use in filters (291) and in the 208 ring modulator.

Re:

I was wondering if the Cocteau clap mods would be compatible with the BA662A I haven't tried it, but I can tell you that the Remora 808 CP cartridge (a direct clone of the 808 circuit) works with both the BA6110 and BA662 clone. You just have to switch some pins: BA662 -------> YOCTO BA6110 pin 1 -...

Absolutely is David Kean who literally inspired Don to begin making modules again.

I've heard people say adding resonance to the 297 through feedback makes it even more fun.

Re: Pitch CV Scaling with a precision adder (for Model 158 Clone)

If the TTMC 158 doesn't say it's specifically 1.2V/Octave on the CV inputs then it's the original 100 Series oscillator scaling which is something like 4V to rise 3 octaves. Yes, an external CV mixer should allow tweaking the signal to drive the 158 to 1.2V/Octave. Happy knobbing! If anyone's intere...

Re: Pitch CV Scaling with a precision adder (for Model 158 Clone)

Looks like TTMC used the vintage implementation of the front panel switch toggling between the front panel frequency pot and the external CV in jacks; only one at a time are used. (Does the Frequency pot do something in both Int/Ext switch positions? If so there may be an internal CV mixer.) Users w...

Re: Pitch CV Scaling with a precision adder (for Model 158 Clone)

(Sorry, saw this in the recent posts feed and replied before realizing it was for Eurack.) My most recent version of the 158 (and 144) has a simple opamp CV mixer so the Frequency pot and external CV ins can function simultaneously. I've noticed after calibrating the module to the original scale of ...

Yes, I know. Lost the password to the blog quite a while ago so I can't update that. Search Muff's DIY for the same module and there they are. Some are on electro-music. I have updated versions of the 144 and 158 I build to order with a couple of extra features.

The M1 is entirely sample-based and the D50 contains numerous samples of the attacks of acoustic instruments (some looped) to layer upon the traditional waveform synthesis section.

Re: Sound design/foley: Opening sequence of "Alien." Analysis?

It sounded like they took the audio of the bits after clear speech and just used the ambience of the "uh" "ah" "oh" and transitional bits between easily-recognizable vowels, fricatives, and plosives. Like taking all the sound a guitar makes after the pick hits.
