Re: legacy Euro Overdrive switch issue

Tony ,shorted c2 as suggested..triangle looks more sine with vpp 7.2v but pp does not change with gain control. I dont have the 5U installed and running at the moment - but will try comparing the overdrives when i can. ok i removed both diodes D1 and D2 from the circuit. Gain control works ! but the...

Re: legacy Euro Overdrive switch issue

odrive resistance 20k, distortion resistance 30k i have measured every resistor on the board is correct value and they are. i have swapped out u1 with a tlo72 - not that. tested socket u1 for shorts - no joy. I next decided to put a filter and vca in front of the dvco triangle... in odrive mode and ...

Re: legacy Euro Overdrive switch issue

well I pulled up the lead of D1 to run a diode test of dmm on both D1 & D2 and they passed.
As i was using a germanium diode -one of the the two suggested, i swapped back to 1n4148 ... sadly it did not solve the puzzle.

peculiar - not a lot else to check.

Re: legacy Euro Overdrive switch issue

with overdrive switched , i see @2.8v pp shark fin wave on p1 U1 . I would appreciate schematic being resent, look like i didnt store it. so ill use my own numbering.to now check signals on switch pins with oscope if i hold the panel side towards me, lets label the switch pins from left to right 1,2...

Re: euro-SVF is self oscillating duh! (solved)

Well values are correct - I did reflow all of the named components and im now thinking all is ok. I could well have been confusing the harmonics with oscillation, or the reflow solved it. Thanks for your time. with 100% resonance , the scope flatlines at 9oc position of frequency, and loses all harm...

Re: legacy Euro Overdrive switch issue

Im lucky to have a bedroom dedicated to audio kit - but the 5U oakly is currently on the hall landing as i have been trying to identify why im picking up the dreaded computer noise in my audio paths, and ive ripped up every cable and lead under my main desk. That and earth hum on mixer channels conn...

Re: euro-SVF is self oscillating duh!

Checked r25,26 are readin 30k in situ, so that looks ok. R27,28 have right values too and diodes d2,3 are correctly oriented. R21-24 also associated with u3 have correct values. C9 is marked .47k which should be 470nf .

It is not easy to see on picture if the trimmer to left of ic has its pins correctly wired ...when compared to the other trimmer, it looks like it should be rows 8,9,10 .

Re: I need help with breadboard LFO

Hi, have you confirmed with a digital multimeter that power is reaching pins 4 and 11. I have problems with Breadboard connections all the time and the meter probes on the pins of the chip are best. That's first test I would do. I'm not sure if your breadboard links up all the sets of five holes, so...

euro-SVF is self oscillating duh! -solved

Hi again, the euro-SVF is built and really happy with it. All working fine. In passing i was talking to eljay , he reminded me it is not supposed to self oscillate. Mine appears to do just that at high resonance (past 2 oClock.) Now I usually leave Tune trimmer as centered and i still do not have a ...

legacy Euro Overdrive switch issue

Hi Tony, Sorry to see you are selling up your own 5U system. I built the 3U overdrive a year or two back and never thought the gain was working or was too subtle for me to notice. When i later built the 5U overdrive, I thought - THATS how its supposed to sound. Well to cut to the chase, Today I chan...

Re: Dreadbox Antiphon DIY kit

Ok during calibration and general playing, some doubts as to whether the 2 pole filter is working as expected. Only because I get no sense of any sweeping of harmonics. I'm aware sine waves don't have harmonics but expected something when six are singing. I'm just hearing the volume change as lp and...

Re: Dreadbox Antiphon DIY kit

Just completed my antiphone build. My one mistake was interpreting the socket orientation right and wrong pictures. As a result all 13 sockets along lower edge I soldered the wrong way around. It took two of us with hot air gun and pliers to remove them. All the sockets went straight back in. I brea...

Oakley Sounds euro Envelopes test video - also viewable in Oakley forum.
SMD build. Left is modulating vca with an Oakley euro DVCO and euro COTA.
Right is just a vanilla Intellijel DIxieII pulse wave.
Envelope is in gated loop mod.

Re: Euro Envelope build feedback

All working  Gated loop with Oakley eDVCO and eCOTA on the left one. Vanilla pulse on right. Not a master piece but shows them working. Apologies for poor keyboard playing - it was behind me whilst holding phone. If it was in front of me - not likely much better. :sb: https://youtu.be/tBaamgU...

Re: Euro Envelope build feedback

Yup. If you do revisit schematic, you have two green LEDs. as you label one "gate ", recommend label the other "output". Then the feng shuey is aligned :tu:

Euro Envelope build feedback

Hi, Tony interesting one this is - I have a working Euro Envelope - that is until I power cycled it, when on switching the power back on - it freezes. Symptoms were that Only the green gate led flashes, the red output led is steady dimly lit, and I get a drone rather than a gated loop i have configu...

I replaced Q1 with the correct package size, and re flowed Q1 and I now have a working tested COTA filter. :tu: I wondered whether Asymmetry had an issue but then with Soft Clip oscilloscope and ears showed it worked. Is it correct it only works with soft clip on? It only gets a brief mention in set...

Re: new Euro Cota VCF - build debug time

I now suspect its Q1. Seems I ordered these from farnell without paying attention to the size...I just expected small. Turns out the pads are for a SOT-457-6 which to be fair you mention early on in the build guide but i had ordered and put on a SOT-363. So TWO reasons for it not working - pins not ...

new Euro Cota VCF - build debug time [solved]

Hi, Slapdash is back - this time for the Euro Cota On first power up , I managed to short -12v rail to zero with a solder bridge on main board. :slapfight: For testing i use a doepfer miniature power supply which has a 9v wall wart. Coincidence or not ? I managed to destroy the wall wart - without d...

To be honest I still haven't got my head around the leave mode. I tend to use it as a creator of happy accidents. Often I'm not sure what to expect when I hit load on the fly during a set When You say you are hitting load on the fly - you too are presetting the load on/leave/load off switch then hi...

>>Does the preload light come on when you press load and then go off when the load is pressed again? Yes - regardless of position pre/on shift switch. I think it is just my misunderstanding again.
