Re: Gear That Ought To Be Cloned
Bastl discontinued the Bitranger. I have no idea why they did that. I love mine. It is so fun. It took forever for there to be a time when I was ready to buy something and they were in stock. They seemed to sell like hot cakes. All I can imagine is lack of parts. I am really glad I bought one. I wo...

Re: The Utility Modules for Semi-Modular Synths Discussion
I’ve got one of these but alas I don’t know what I’m doing. I’ll get there. hehe It is not bad at all because it gives you some good tools to send CV to your other gear. I just wish Dreadbox (or someone) would take those basic utilities and expand on them. Here’s a mod someone did on their Kappa2 t...

Re: The Utility Modules for Semi-Modular Synths Discussion
Honorable mention:
Dreadbox Kappa2. Had serious potential to be exactly what we are looking for, but needs to be expanded.
I would add a patchable LFO, LPG, wavefolder, and make the S&H and EG more patchable. It also needs clock in/out/reset.

Re: CV Sequencer with envelope outputs?
I think the Dreadbox Kappa2 might fit the bill. It's out of production, but you could probably find one used somewhere. https://www.dreadbox-fx.com/kappa-2/ I looked a little bit ago, and Analogue Haven may still have one. I really wish that Dreadbox would improve and expand on that one. It had ser...

Re: The Utility Modules for Semi-Modular Synths Discussion
I'd start with the 16n Faderbank in the AtoZ Rework format. I love this idea. I’ve definitely been considering the 16n simply for what it is, but a rework like the one you described would absolutely kill in the current market. Why? Because everyone with a Mother32, a Nyx, an Erebus, a 0-Coast, a Mi...

BTW, particularly for you Unborn Gore, I just bought the AttFAM from ElectroLobotomy off Etsy. It looks to be a fab device that would complement the ST Workbench really well. Different approach to attenuation.... Just wanted to bring it to your attention. https://www.etsy.com/listing/706552456/attf...

Re: The Utility Modules for Semi-Modular Synths Discussion
And will give you more than a typical semi-modular synth in return Given the way things currently stand, that’s a fair point. But I still maintain that if one of the synth makers out there took a good look at the field it would be much more cost effective (and thus, profitable) to produce a desktop...

Re: The Utility Modules for Semi-Modular Synths Discussion
If I didn’t have the 0-CTRL, PNW would be high on my list. But as it stands, it’s tough to justify with my current setup. Cold Mac also looks terrific. Kind of a rich man’s Kinks, so to speak. But all of the options I’m interested in portend a utility skiff that will be about $1000, which is more th...

Re: Standalone filter or Eurorack filter
If you have both euro rack and standalone gear, I highly recommend analog solutions Mr. Hyde. https://www.analoguesolutions.com/mr-hyde-synthblock It has ins and outs for both euro rack and line level (1/4) gear. Additionally, it has an LFO with square and triangle, CV outs for the LFO, and CV ins f...

Re: Power Supply for theremin, synths and pedals
I spent a couple months trying to figure this stuff out. I ended up buying a Walrus Audio Aetos for my pedals (8 isolated outs, + a 120vAC out. which takes up about as much space as a pedal on my board) and a Furman surge protector strip (6 3-prongs) for my synths/et al.

Re: What is it about the musical genre "noise" that you find appealing?
@Unborn Gore There's nothing in Pyrrhix's definition regarding time scale. Only intent. I'm 100% with you. Ever since the moody's said -in the 60s- "Vibrations reach on up to become light, and then through gamma, and out of sight, Between the eyes and ears there lies, the sound of color and the lig...

Re: What is it about the musical genre "noise" that you find appealing?
Is noise a musical genre though? Yes, but I have a very simple definition of music: sounds assembled intentionally and/or listened to intentionally. My question is: What is it exactly that dictates that music has to be ordered according to the traditions that we know? Some rhythms and repetitions a...

Re: The Utility Modules for Semi-Modular Synths Discussion
Do you mind confirming or disproving my hypothesis about the Uni/Bi switch? It appears to switch between 0-to+5v and +5-to-5. Would love to hear a bit about how you are using it in tandem with the 0-CTRL. Sending gate or clock from the 0-CTRL to the LFO reset on the Workbench, then Workbench LFO to...

Got my Workbench. Thing is terrific in tandem with the 0-CTRL.
I’ve matched them up with the Mr. Hyde from Analog Solutions, the Modulor A-1 (Sonicsmith), and the X1l3 Shard (desktop), among others.

From the video, it looks like the mult doesn’t have a slider. There’s one for the LFO.
The knob beneath the mult appears to control voltage on a global level.
