Tommys Departure
I lost a friend recently, unexpectedly to the damn cancer... I've been struggling with his passing. This track came out as a cathartic memory of Tommy. Morphagene and Radiomusic provide the sampled sources followed by further mangling and modulation by my favorite tools. Miss you Tommy. https://soun...

Re: on the topic of not buying any more modules
i've reached a point where my several cases are more or less full and I've got some modules "on the shelf". If a module sits on the shelf for more than a couple months, it goes into the "4 sale" box. Then when I get gas for something, I start a 4 sale thread to fund the new chaos. This has been work...

For the record, an official assembly video series is out for some time and thonk now sells kits. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2KBIbSMnGOgvdoP2KOvbhgzn7umV4KSv i'm sorry but I've never seen anybody solder through hole from the component side before. Why do it like this?? I see no advantag...

Re: warmest sounding complex oscillator?
I"ve owned DPO, Further and CS-L. My favorite so far for warmth and variety of sound as well as constant "sweet spot" is the Cs-L. I've played with Verbos at trade shows and it didn't really do it for me. Always wanted the Two59 setup, but never took the dive to get a set built.

Re: Best random generator for musical phrases
Being a self professed Turing Machine addict, I use two fully expanded TM Mk II as well as two O_C typically on Quartermain for quantizing and/or producing more TM outputs. I also like adding an unsynced LFO to the mix with at least one of these paths to keep things interesting. O_C is truly a deep ...

Re: Cheap delay modules
I'm a Delay Slut.. I have way too many..
Cheap ones 2HP... DLY....
Mid Priced: Cronoblob and Clouds
Expensive: H9, Time Factor (out of rack) and DLD and Rainmaker (killers both)
Then there's the ER301 which I sometimes use as a complex FX unit...

Re: Any recommendations for reverb in the $200-300 price range?
2HP Verb is a winner... rich sounding for sure.
New Itellijel 1U FX module looks strong as well.
I rely on Eventide SPACE and H9 outside the rack for my primary send Reverbs... In rack I use 2HP Verb and Clouds sometimes as Send effects.

Re: How many "voices" do you have in your modular?
oh wow... if I really count this up.. 12-16 VCO based voices (complex & dual VCO's making 1 or 2 "voices). 4 - 6 channels of sample based voices and at least 8-10 percussion oriented voices. Way more than I can use simultaneously and hear them or make any sense of it. I like to limit myself to 4 - 5...

Gotta say that filter demo video sounds pretty darn phat... might have to get me one of these. Nice work!! Resurrecting this necro thread to put the word out. I'm now offering my XaVCF eurorack adaptation of the OB-Xa filter plus some extra goodies. It has that big fat Oberheim sound. Full details a...

Re: In 2020 what is the module that does 2 simple things??
I have been using a cv.ocd for my midi to clock and reset. However I had been having lots of problems with sequencers double skipping on play though and i traced it down to it being midi. I just started experimenting with cv.ocd to drive clock/reset to my Euro rig and had the exact same issue. I th...

Re: Frap Tools USTA
yes, but this happens whenever you drive a "swinging" device with any external clock in my experience. I'm just going to use PAMS as a master clock as this seems to work well. Sometimes I prefer to use the sequencer (USTA) as the master clock, but I can't give up a Track (two gates) for this purpose...
