Re: Expert Sleepers disting EX

When you do plug the the cable into the ex upside down. The midi breakout in becomes an out and the out becomes an in, which can be fun

Re: Expert Sleepers disting EX

I had the same problem initially with my midi breakout. Then realized I had the cable into the EX upside down :).

Re: VCA before mixer, mixer before VCA?

That is assuming you have enough CV sources to power most or all of the VCAs. I wish this point would come up more often! Infinity VCAs is useless without infinity CV sources to go with them. It's so fundamental that I don't really understand why it's left out so regularly from the advice. Maybe "Y...

Re: Xaoc Jena, Drezno, Lipsk: Leibniz Binary Subsystem update!

Enjoying patching six outputs from Jena Bank E drum patterns into the six inputs of Expert Sleepers Disting Ex single shots for endless, curious, in time, drum sequences. The Leibniz subsystem plays well with the Disting Ex. The curious thing is that even though I patch a slow saw tooth lfo into the...

Re: My Disting EX and my Beatstep pro seem to hate each other.

I am having a similar issue. Midi in worked great until I added some of my own multi samples over midi. Ex shows midi history of data coming in but no sound or light are produced on the module when in multi sample mode. Now that it is the weekend I intend to figure out why.

I have the same issue and it also arose after multi sampling with midi. I will recalibrate but it seems to now be a common issue.

Re: Expert Sleepers disting EX

I can't share the hang files because they are a Distinged version of the Sonic Couture library. ( http://www.soniccouture.com/en/products/26-percussion/g29-pan-drums/ ). I haven't checked but I've probably broken the terms of the licence already just by doing this conversion. But then I did pay for...

Re: Disting Ex- Master of none?

Same boat as OP. Was debating whether an ES 8 or a Disting would be the module to get. My main concern is being able to bring the DAW into the fray and know that ES 8 is prime for that. However, it is a considerably more expensive than the super Disting ex +α. Will computer connectivity via CV and,...

Re: Expert Sleepers disting EX

I do not understand the need for a very large SD card. The companion files are only about 5GB leaving 30GB for more stuff. I left pure computer based music for modular to limit my choices so that I make music rather than consider options. I cannot imaging that I would need more than, or even, 30GB o...

How does this compare with the Xaoc Odessa. They seem to be the same sort of idea. Is Ensemble a poor/practical man’s version of Odessa?

Re: Why is the Mother 32 so expensive?

Hand made by people earning a living wage. It is not like anyone at Moog is making the fortunes of the "tech giants." Basic problem we seem to have is that we do not want to pay for something so that our neighbors can earn a living. Obviously, if everyone in the US bought one of these, the price cou...

Re: What happened to Sputnik Modular

Roman Filippov left his Sputnik to someone and started Black Corporation in Japan to make things like DECKARD’S DREAM, XERXES, and KIJIMI. Apparently he will start making Eurorack modules again based on these designs. I do, however, miss his Buchla inspired designs.

I use a nw2s::io Unbalanced I/O to send eight channels out to ableton, which is super simply so long as you sound card had eight ins. I use an ES 3 and 5 with ableton CV control pack to bring back modulation and triggers from ableton via an adat out. I recently purchased an ES6 used to get eight mor...
