Re: 5U sounding Oscillator, not in 5U format?

thinking about it.. people in here dont mind a bit of cheating ..cp3 sub osc effects etc..
might as well get a polyD thats a 4 x 3 osc minimoog clone.. that should sound pretty big! ,,for the price of 2 or 3 5u/eurorack modules :)

Re: 5U sounding Oscillator, not in 5U format?

the behringers are supposed to be 'clones" for a fraction of the cost.. had a listen to the LA 67 osc.. does the same tricks as kobol.. sounds way more buzzy than my mos labs or the original kobol.. if that matters.. its not bad.. just different.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kZMbC3is_8 https://...

Re: 5U sounding Oscillator, not in 5U format?

think you can get most osc to sound good.. I mean if we are adding effects drive distortion into the equasion.. for me personally there is a reason I keep going back to the Synthwerk osc.. they always deliver(filters a big part !) ..some osc take longer to get a great sound for many of them its wort...

Re: 5U sounding Oscillator, not in 5U format?

AJH Synth modules and a .mix from STG would sound good. Josaka is right though, 5U is all about stacking Oscs. So any good sounding analogue oscillators into a CP3 mixer will sound good. for cheap and 5U modelled, you could go for the Behringer system 55 clones, or for a 'better' oscillator, the AJ...

Re: 5U sounding Oscillator, not in 5U format?

well the moog output is a lot quieter ..so there is that same sound for cheaper..? by a lot of accounts the Behr model D is close to the real mini..and this is close to 5u.. the cat they did is pretty 'hefty' the way you can mix waves on it and the sub make it huge sounding.. only when you get into ...

Re: 5U sounding Oscillator, not in 5U format?

Roland System 100 101

not many if any have the ooomph of 5u direct out of the box..
bit of drive/compression its hard to tell.. I think euroracks over modulation and digital osc does it no favours in this department also 5u is more about multi osc..

Re: The "Show Us Your Filters" Thread

they are not exact at all.. but nor are they miles apart..
croglin is very different..
I would go for a 2144 based filter or a roland myself.. they are great and different..

both in in 5u now...

Re: 5U getting started thread?

koma are lovely.. stopped them now..? I use a few but always come back to the zaquencer.. the midiphy Seqv4 is great.. the toraiz and even the keystep pro and beatstep pro..too many.. having stored sequences to flick through is a joy the size of jacks and pots used in 5u means it can never really be...

Re: 5U getting started thread?

I doubled to Oscillator modules to give me 4 so that should be thick enough for bass lines (hopefully). no problem.. massive sounds.. 5u best trick. still not sure about that extra vca :) or moon delay? rest looks good.. (personally go for a .com svf filter over the sea devil it has hp/bp/lp) :) th...

Re: 5U getting started thread?

people are saying get this get that but as I said at the start .. its relevant to the sounds you want to make as to whats better to get.. if you want to do berlin stuff the moon are fine..if you want more techno fm sounds other osc maybe better.. you can eek out most sounds but osc lean more to this...

Re: 5U getting started thread?

Okay, how about this one? still a couple of things.. I dont see the point of the moon wave output module.. you be better off with a 3rd 1u oscillator..(for more detuning etc) and the moon osc already give ample outputs without the sidecar.. the 3 vcas could be just the VCA++ or two of the VCA++ ..?...

Re: Hello Hordijk System

I think they're from thomann, from a range called sssnake. Like these ones, but you might need to double check details on length, mono/stereo etc. https://www.thomann.de/gb/the_sssnake_sk369m06_patchkabel.htm?glp=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7OiO8_GB7AIVird3Ch0V9w8NEAQYBCABEgLFlfD_BwE snake cables are the s...

I saw Abb written :) I dont do COTK out of pricipal these days.. but the SW is deffo great and the ML(not sure if seb changed the full 901(at the time he updated his ABBB) ..or if it was originally exact on release..or did nothing ) :) on the "C" module when I looked in...

Someone forwarded a link to the COTK 901 page (their site has it listed, but no link to the page). But it is just a picture of the front panel with general info, no internal details: http://www.cluboftheknobs.com/pro_c901.html isnt all thier stuff like that..? minimal.. the abb page has more.. clic...

Re: Club of the knobs 901?

the SW and newer ML versions are exact clones from slightly different years.. '64' & 69' ? ...cotk use lesser parts apparently(mentioned in detail in other threads here).. (on other modules at least) their 921 do sound good though. the COTK 901 can be found here http://www.cluboftheknobs.com/modules...

Re: 5U getting started thread?

different.. :) would say 2 Q114 mixers would be way more useful.. and the 3 .com adsr are not great.. when you have used the stg or oakley/System X/SSL/.com++(not tried the .com!) ADSR you will see what I mean.. the moon thing is a bit of a behemoth and overkill in a system this size personally.. yo...

^yep mostly what he said.. get a mixer..look at electrosmith osc and filter.. saves a space :) also maybe a pair of STG ADSR two outs on each a ton of shapes and looping.. prob the best 5u adsrs.. FM aid is a no go these days.. and lose the connector module. an oakley ADSA/VCA is also useful.. 2 lfo...

Re: 5U getting started thread?

there is sticky with a list of pretty much all the manufacturers..
youtube has many demo videos..
"where to start" has a lot to do with what sounds you want to achieve..
then folk might be able to direct you better if they knew what you were after..its a bit vague otherwise..
