Re: Filter(ing) options

Easy

1. Narrow down options using modular grid
2. Read the manuals to confirm have the features I want
3. Watch DivKids videos on shortlisted modules

Pick the one that meets the requirements and that sounds the best

Can Anyone recommend a multi pot external offset to control live in real time several of the CV inputs on the A0R?
I use Quadratt but is Intellijel 1U specific.

Levit8 would work nicely if you wanted 8 pots in a relatively compact 3U format.

I have 4. The decays are very “slightly” different, but this is to be expected given they are vactrols.

Over the years one of the lessons I've learned about modular is to never, ever doubt WMD.
Agree, am finding my performance case is increasingly filled with their modules!

Agree with @ggillon. Have both and Crater is the much better module. Crucible is also fantastic if you are looking for hats, cymbals, etc.

Re: New Firmware - The Pain and the Joy of Updating Modules

I kinda hate updating firmware though agree that it’s nice to see developers fix bugs etc. I gave up on the Er301 because of the rapid number of updates. Brian does an amazing job and it’s a very capable module, but the challenge I find is that I take the time to learn something, figure out the work...

I have the IJ 1U LPGs, really like them. They do vary a little from unit to unit, but sound good. And they are super cheap.

On the random chance you have a 1U Intellijel row, the new PLPG modules seem to be pretty great and very cheap ($39). I have 4 and really like their sound.

I'm also thrilled that I designed some of the circuits used in this patch.
I love your designs. Dixie (which I think is one of yours?) is perhaps my all time favorite VCO. I have 6 and just bought another!!

Thanks for designing and making them!!

Just received a brand new one of these and think I have a dud. A trigger in on the first channel produces nothing at the CV out. All the other channels work as expected. I tried reloading the firmware but no change. I’ve email Intellijel but thought would ask here in case anyone had seen something ...

Re: Matrix mixer as a performance audio mixer?

I don’t completely follow the Befaco Hexmix example, it still sounds like a good performance mixer. My point of using a matrix mixer (with VCAs) instead of a regular performance mixer is that you can freely patch rows and columns as mono/stereo (quad even!) channels and sends. Would that also be po...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

I have both, but don’t have them in the same case so don’t use them together. They really are quite different beasts with very different UIs. I find the Lubadh gets used as a voice. Whereas am now using the A8 as almost the heart of the system using the set up I outlined above.

I like both of them.

Re: Matrix mixer as a performance audio mixer?

I think there are more options for matrix mixing out there. The Rebel Tech Mix 04 is a very compact 4x4 VCA mixer. To do what the VCAM does you obviously need a bunch of other modules. Maze is great, too so long as you don’t need CV control over the mix. Instruo have released the Lion Finally the Be...

Re: MI Frames alternatives for 6 channels of 'scannable envelopes'

Thanks for the responses, the Erica Synths Octasource seems like a great way to control all 6 channels of my SMR, although it wouldn't let me input a constant voltage but would give me some crazy modulation, so that might find its way into my rack. I think I'm looking for something like the Doepfer...

The only knobs in my aystem I don’t like are on my Cloud Terranium. For some reason it feels like there is give n them, so they turn a bit before actually changing the value of the potentiometer. Makes it hard to do good adjustments. I wonder if it’s the knobs versus the pots. At some point am Going...

Well ... I think what you laying out with the BL would work. You could get that and the nearness, hold off anything else and see if that works the way you want. You can always add the LRMSMSLR later.

Re: Nearness and LRMSMSLR

Got it. I think an STMix and Nearness with your quad attenuator gets you where you want. Only adds 8HP and comes in at $200, less ($125) if you can DIY the STMix (which is a well documented build, but Befaco PCBs are a little dense so wouldn’t recommend for a complete beginner). This frees up your V...

Re: What do I need to switch between CV (modulation) sources going to a single CV input?

You could also use a DC coupled panning module or 2 channels of a mixing VCA (eg veils). This has the benefit of being able to blend the cvs as you switch which may or may not be something you want to do.

Re: Nearness and LRMSMSLR

I have that. It’s fun! I think you want a stereo mixer to bring this altogether. You can put nearness before it. Befaco STMix is also another good choice. You could do: 4 mono through Quadratt into nearness into stereo mixer LPGX into stereo mixer Or dont bother with the nearness and use soundstage ...

Re: MI Frames alternatives for 6 channels of 'scannable envelopes'

I think you want 6 phase shifted envelopes/ LFOs? Erica Synths Octasource or Erogenous Tones Radar can both give you 8. You can get 4 using IJ Quadrax. There is Doepfer morph controller out there too. The octasource is perfect for this in my opinion - I use with a Rebel Tech Mix04 to get 4 channels ...
