Re: When gear has lots of features you don't use do you want to downgrade?

You own a piece of gear and you use it but there's a fair bit of it you DON'T use and it kind of bugs you and you think maybe you should get something simpler? I can't even begin to comprehend the underlined part. Why should it bug me? Here’s an example: Last night, in my sleep, i heard the term “p...

Re: EURORACK METALHEADS! Long Rant Warning.

Gotta throw The Sword in there for badass "newer" metal bands that are 17 years new  .. first two albums are right up there with Celtic Frost, Hellbastard and Amebix (yeah I can go crusty too). This is officially off topic, but i have been a fan of Clutch since the mid 90s, and there was a str...

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer

ok so i have this freaking thing dialed in to be playing a nice 8 note chord drone. is there a way to add some very subtle lfo to it to make it more interesting but without going off the rails? i am having trouble using the lfo. I, too, have had trouble with "subtle" LFO modulation on the oscillato...

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer

second thing--- i am noticing its hard to hear the bass oscillator in comparison to the treble and with no individual volume control im having trouble. what am i missing with this? when they are all playing the higher octaves are too loud compared to the bass. I’ve found that adjusting the SHARP kn...

If you’re only getting $5k or so for a kidney, you need to find a new organ brokerage.

Re: New Teenage Engineering release

Interesting design exercise. Surprised it focuses on FM radio, as at least here in the US, radio 99% sucks. I was driving yesterday, and the three radio stations that I usually listen to were all very shitty: one had a commercial, one was playing ZZ Top, and one was a coronavirus election wildfire ...

Re: MFB 501 PRO

Thanks, Blario. I haven't had the 501 Pro very long, and I've just had it plugged into a stereo channel on my mixer. I'll try rerouting it so that I can test whether voices are pre-panned.

Re: MFB 501 PRO

So, the 501 Pro has a stereo output, but as far as I can tell, there's no way to pan the various drum voices and samples, right? (I would love to be able to hard pan instruments to make recording simpler.) Are the samples in stereo? If not, why doesn't it have a mono output?

Any ideas?

Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synths

How is the sound of the Syntrx? Would you say it‘s similar to a Synthi? Erica synths has managed to find the perfect formula to get sales on a mediocre to outright bad sounding synth from people just hyped to be able to have something that looks like a synthi in their studio. I suspect that mine wo...

Re: First experience on USED market went as feared... Yours?

The worst experiences I’ve had are a few modules that reek of cologne or air freshener, but that goes away in a couple of days. I think it’s vape juice. Ewww god. I don’t have the data handy, but I’m pretty sure that “Eww-God” is the #3 best-selling flavor of vape juice in the Austin (Texas) market...

I couldn't find anyone in the US who seemed to carry them. Schneidersladen had them in stock for awhile. I wound up getting mine from Thomann. It was my first time ordering from them. The shipping wasn't too expensive (around 25 Euros) and it made it from Germany to the US (at my door) in two days. ...

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer

Can someone with a OEM Lyra (not the DIY) confirm whether or not the AND/OR switch in the Hyper LFO is 2 position, or 3 position? It's three position. Mine only has a two-position switch. It's not a DIY model, but it might be one of the older ones. I think there is some discussion earlier in this t...

So, I've been looking at this, and I can't tell from the manual exactly how MIDI velocity data affects the 501 Pro. Is it just volume? (This could very well be a stupid question -- I'm new to sequencing drum machines with external sequencers, but this seems like a great option for a drum module to ...
