Re: Motivation Radio ESP32 Wifi/BLE platform

Yeah, I doubt there will be any build guide. It’s as simple as looking at the BOM and putting components where they belong. It’s a pretty simple build really - there aren’t any tricks; SMD on one side, jacks/encoder on the other. I believe the larger problem you’ll run into is getting a firmware on ...

Re: terminal tedium (raspberry zero, pi2, pi3 codec / pd thing)

Did you build it from the fates image? Is this still on your zero based board? I feel like ORAC has to be installed on a modified Norns image to get all the stuff preconfigured so ORAC can run on top. Meanwhile I got my TT plus OLEDs working with ORAC but when I powered in the other day I got no res...

Re: terminal tedium (raspberry zero, pi2, pi3 codec / pd thing)

Man, I'm no expert by any means but I've always had problems going from one SD card to another once the distro was set up. I've had no problems going from Pi3 to Pi3+ SD cards but going from Pi3 to Pi4 and vice verse has always been buggy or just not booting in my experience. I'd imagine using the z...

Re: Frequency Central Stasis Leak build thread

Has anyone noticed an unreasonable amount of noise in their build? I’ve got a udervish and a clouds going into the returns of my hexpander and they’re dead silent unless sending a signal through. The stasis leak always has a fair amount of hiss on the output even after getting everything trimmed up ...

Re: terminal tedium (raspberry zero, pi2, pi3 codec / pd thing)

Man, you can totally use the pi4 - it’ll work. I guess my ramble was over getting a pi 4 as “upgrade” when there are some trade offs to consider. If you got it, flaunt it! The 40 pin connector is completely compatible, all of the libs etc needed should run without issue. The one catch I’ll say is th...

Re: terminal tedium (raspberry zero, pi2, pi3 codec / pd thing)

I hate to be that guy but I really don’t see much of a reason to go to the pi4. The pi3 and its plus variants are known quantities that have been around for 3-4 years with 3-4 years of support and fixes. I just don’t see how 2, 4, or even 8 GB of ram would magically make the system better plus the e...

Re: Befaco Hexmix and Hexepander (Hexa Project)

I’d say the returns on the hexpander are really the only thing that handles line inputs and they work pretty well. If you had external effects it would be cool but I’d say any sound source would need some sort of amplification.

Re: magPie DblDecca! octatrack (and other) integration w/modular

Yeah man, there are 3 16.9k resistors that correspond with each of the trimmers on the board. Changed those to 18k and got a much tighter 1v/8ve. I’ve also got some tweaks from on firmware- let me know if you’d be interested in the firmware.

Re: magPie DblDecca! octatrack (and other) integration w/modular

Man, I ended up replacing the 16.whateverk resistors with 18k resistors and with the trimmers I’m now getting more like 7 octaves of relatively in tune 1V/oct.

Re: Motivation Radio ESP32 Wifi/BLE platform

From what I’ve seen/read the ESP32 alone will draw ~40mA without being connected to anything (just your code), ~25 mA while flashing, but with WiFi going it’s more like ~125mA with 300-400mA spikes/pulses. I’ve been having fun getting this module rolling and Rich provided a solid foundation but it’s...

Re: Motivation Radio ESP32 Wifi/BLE platform

Anyone out there with a motivation radio built that’s collecting dust? I’ve been fooling with mine a lot. Have the WiFiOSC script going and then parts of the whole picture. Just curious if anyone else out there was tinkering with it.

I found the ZeroW to be a little under powered honestly. Good compromise IMO is the 3 A+. Smaller footprint, a lot short so you don't need special tall headers, has the horsepower of a 3 but without powering all the extra peripherals.

Put in an A+ to replace the Zero and it works well.

Anyone else still getting after the dubldeca still? Mine's kind of the forefront of my whole system. Been working on getting the 1v/oct voice playing better. When playing from my Kontrol 49 it seems like you really can't let two notes hit at the same time i.e. the gate better not be high already bef...

Just found out that Cabintech is doing pre-orders on chips; 2 @ $9.15 each. The rep I messaged said that they have placed an order but due to interest were doing presales. Excited to have some mn3009 in this guy - I've had this board laying around since 2016 thinking, "If I find some decent priced m...

Turns out I had pin 3 of the expo/Lin pot on channel 4 floating; the leg had bent back and wasn’t actually making connection. Got that sorted and all 6 channels are dead quiet. I’ll take that dumbass supreme award now.

I could use some advice on troubleshooting between the sandwiched boards. Channel 5 isn't working on mine, if I turn up channel 6 all the way I can get a tiny bit of bleed from the source plugged into 5. None of the other channels have bleed that I've noticed. I've swapped chips around so I know I ...

Ok SO that was actually an easy fix, I just had to have all 3 .ino files in the same directory. Both teensy's are programmed now, the startup sequence runs without issue, but the module still doesn't seem to respond to midi at all. Does the ground on the stereo jack really not have to be soldered? ...
