Re: Qu-Bit Data Bender

sorry, I guess I should have elaborated after making a potentially damning statement. I guess what I meant is that the sound of the effect reminds me a lot of what I get when I send as bunch of CV to samples in my Phonogene

Re: Filling a 4HP gap - head vs. heart

Z-DSP may be unique in Spin modules in that it has the open feedback path and that they found a workaround to be able to clock delays (on the clocked delays card that is). Depending on what you use it for it could be replaced by one of the newer 8hp Z-modules as well. The FX Aid has a mode called "...

also just wanted to add that sometimes the sort of knob can change how a potentiometer feels.

Re: The PERFECT Knob torque

frankly I love my Doepfer's firmness, especially after changing out the grays for Davies. I make a lot of music with slow changes and appreciate the firm response. If I want fast changes I'll use CV or better yet attenuated CV to dial in what I'm looking for.

Re: Qu-Bit Data Bender

Looks cool but struggling to see what separates this from Phono/Morphagene and Nebulae being fed a bunch of random CV

the forthcoming delay also looks an awful lot like a stereo Erbe as well.

Doesn't mean I don't want both, however, hehehe

Re: Experience with the Disting EX? Is it fun?

if it were me I would rather have 2 dedicated fx modules than Disting EX, like a dedicated reverb and a dedicated delay. Heck, even my Clouds that has however many modes is basically always in the clocked delay/looper mode..... I have kept hold of a RT-60 (vintage!) despite its rather crumby sound q...

Re: Filling a 4HP gap - head vs. heart

Honestly, I'd be pulling the ZDSP out, replacing it with an FX Aid XL, and then going hog wild with the space (after having sold the ZDSP for a fair but lucrative price). You could follow both then. Not a bad call. It's huge and there are SO many Spin-based fx nowadays (like FX Aid) that are much s...

Doepfer 151 or also using the Doepfer Precision Adder to manually switch and add voltages

Re: How many modules outside your rack?

both my racks feel very settled at this point (link in sig). I have 4 modules not racked in either rack, though I could easily make at least 2 fit in my smaller MN centered rack. I'll be keeping 2 of the Doepfer modules, having another Doepfer repaired at some point (Tapped BBD sad face) and probabl...

Re: Reverb module suggestions

All the modules mentioned so far (besides clouds) use the Spin FV-1 chip. Typically Spin modules can only have 3 DSP parameters modulatable by CV at a given time. Most have an additional parameter not in the DSP that can also be modulated by CV. The new-ish Tip Top Verb looks nice. People seem to lo...

Re: Alternatives to Rings in 2020

BTW the ResEQ does not have CV inputs and will not do what you are describing. It DOES sound amazing as a resonant eq and will fundamentally change any sound you feed it. I love mine. But don't get it expecting that you can ping it in the same way you can a BBD for karplus. If you are considering th...

My first rack. Took a while to assemble - and still got 20HP to spare. Any suggestions?

offset/attenuvert, seq switch, fx.... but a really nice looking rack otherwise! If I were you I'd grab a few of the Doepfer utilities or Disting4 and a microcell or other smaller Clouds

Re: Small Modulator Oscillator?

Dixie II (not II+) is only 6hp and excels at both LFO and VCO duties. I've had one for 6 years or so and only recently started using it as a VCO (crazy, I know), but it sounds excellent through my A105 filter.

the ElectroSmith 3340 looks cool, but I don't think it goes into LFO territory.

Re: Delay devices. Where are we on that?

Clouds Parasite is my go-to delay. I use it pretty much all the time. I don't care that it's not the best fidelity, I just like it. I've recently come to really dislike all FV-1 based delays, though there's plenty of other great FV-1 based algorithms that I enjoy. I just hate not being able to clock...

My humble 2x104 contribution! https://i.imgur.com/doxXbOg.jpg I have about 6+2 hp left, and I'm not too sure which route to go now - on the one hand, I want to bring more filtering diversity (I love the 2144 but its resonance tends to be a bit on the quiet side), but I also wouldn't mind more drum ...
