Re: Modcan A mounting holes?

Taking measurements from Modcan A panels made by Bruce:

-- edge of the mounting hole is 5/32" from the top/bottom edge of the panel
-- diameter of the mounting hole is 3/16"

Re: "Best" Banana Color Scheme for New Format?

Whereas on a Hordijk everything looks the same. Everything is DC-coupled, so there's only so much you need to know as far as patching cables. But he colour-codes his matrix plugs. Has to... otherwise? -- write it on the side with a pencil?

Re: "Best" Banana Color Scheme for New Format?

Blue or black inputs on a Serge is OK though, right? It's just one-or-the-other. Even simpler than traffic lights -- just a binary indication, not a puzzle.

Re: Does no screen make a sequencer really see like more of a 'real instrument'?

If you can create the hw interface and stick to a set of functions, I would say it can work. But there has to be discipline to map out everything you want to have it do, create the hardware to support that, implement it, and then leave it alone for the most part. Like the SAM-16 -- not. :hmm: :nuke:

Re: "Best" Banana Color Scheme for New Format?

Nah. But, but, but... :) I broadly agree with you about spatial relationships having priority, but the record of the last 40 years shows that there is a broad palette of visual techniques, including colour, that can and have been used to help users navigate sometimes crowded and complicated user in...

Re: "Best" Banana Color Scheme for New Format?

Generally speaking, what ends up happening is that the viewer learns the purpose of the jack and its position, and largely disregards the color, because mentally processing spatial relationships is much easier than decoding colors. This is why lots of modular synths (e.g., Eurorack, 5U) get by just...

Personally I think clearly distinguishing between In & Out is vital - I never got my head round Serge (lack of experience) but have been confused looking as to whether some sockets are ins or outs.
Panel graphics tell you that. Usually. Box at top is outputs. Bottom-to-top signal flow. Kind-of.

Have you used the 'CV to Audio Out' object mentioned on KVR? Did Colin implement the 'CV from Audio In' object?

Re: Looking for some advice for moving away from hardware sequencers (PC advice)

@Petajaja: no one's answering your question because it's a bit of a minefield. You state some of the standard motivations for moving from software to hardware -- but you are looking at moving in the opposite direction. :spin: There can be timing problems using MIDI software running on a general-purp...

rock solid timing
How so? How are you using it? Driving other software, or hardware?

In Max/MSP you can derive a clock from audio to circumvent the drunk badgers, as you say on KVR, but that's not an option with Loomer Architect, right?

NLC 1/n and Divide & Conquer also worth a look. Multiple simple 2-8 dividers with switches float my boat.

Hi Guys, Here is a small tip, I just found yesterday. Maybe it was already mentioned in the thread, I don't know. You can beef up the timbre of the osc hrm by plugging the full out to the hrm mod input of the oscillator. Then play with hrm mod knob, all hrm and odd hrm knobs. Cheers It has -- but u...

Cirklon can run more tracks (64), Midibox -16.
You don't mention that the MIDIbox sequencer has up to 16 layers per track, depending on the track type. See the User Manual, Track Event Configuration for more details. Nor do you mention Groove Templates. :guinness:

Re: Hordijk VS Wiard 300

Sequencing purely within a Hordijk system is OK if you want to do generative stuff with the Rungler and Triple LF-VCO, or if you want to sample and arrange in a DAW. I've seen a few WIARD systems that people have made Klee's for, and I think a Klee would be a particularly good match with a Hordijk s...

How would things be better in this regard if you went for a Hordijk system instead?
