Re: Filterbank recommendations

Doesn't the ADDAC bank resonate and provide CV over bands and a few more tricks up the sleeve? The ADDAC doesn't quite reach resonance with the knobs alone, but its first input channel can boost signals by quite a bit--I don't know the exact gain but it brings line level up to modular level. So you...

Re: Pittsburgh Modular Flamingo - new analog harmonic interpolation oscillator prototype

I'm hoping they end up doing a stand-alone module of it. Would be especially cool if they give it its own sine/saw oscillator and an input to run additional oscillators through it, or maybe even mix them together before hitting the shaper circuit.

Re: ADDAC112 VC Looper & Granular Sampling

I had no idea André had a Bandcamp. Very cool to hear what he's making with the instruments he designs!

I'm very much looking forward to hearing all the stuff people put together with this thing. And I have a feeling it's going to replace a large chunk of my existing system.

Re: SSSR Labs SM010 Matrixarchate

How do you find out what the output impedance of your modules are? The manual says to make sure you don't use any sources with output impedance under 100 Ohms but I can't find that spec for any of the modules I was hoping to use with this. Is that some sort of extreme low for output impedance that y...

Re: Beads vs ADDAC112 vs Arbhar vs Miso

The ADDAC112 is the most exciting module I've seen released since I first got interested in modular sampling and audio processing, and it's the first module that's seriously tempted me to put in a preorder. I imagine I'll end up with one, but I will still wait to see initial demos and impressions be...

Re: Recommendation for Feedback

I'd recommend a matrix mixer that can invert signals, since negative feedback opens up a whole new range of sounds. The Doepfer A-138m is very nice and affordable for that. Also check out Nonlinear Circuits' Clump which is a VCA matrix that lets you invert outputs. For effects, don't overlook some o...

Re: Mungo Enterprises d0, dual channel Delay

I've always had a passing interest in this gear but reading through these post, reminds me of some of Whimsical's gear: impenetrable . Is part of the buzz of owning it, deciphering its near hyrogliphic face? How many owners feel it could just be made a little more user friendly? I think if you were...

Re: Help request/tesseract sweet16+gess

I'm having trouble with GESS not seeming to do anything as well, though I'm trying to use it for MIDI rather than i2c. Sweet Sixteen is working fine, my DAW recognizes it and I'm able to use it to control whatever, but it is not registering any messages from GESS. EDIT: Looks like my issue is that G...

Re: BEST VCF at the moment ??

I'm looking for a stereo filter that does mixed-mode effects with notching (i.e. notch + LP) like Belgrad or Three Sisters. So far this appears to be the only one: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/rossum-electro-music-morpheus, and it does more than I'd like it to. Any ideas? (Thoughts on the Morpheus...

Re: Tesseract Modular Sweet Sixteen

I use the faders for MIDI control of DAW parameters all the time. I don't use the CV inputs as often because I have an ES-3/ES-6 combo, but I've tried them and they work fine. I even experimented with running audio through them over MIDI CC, and if I remember right, the sample rate was something li...

Re: Resonant Equalizers

I really like the ADDAC 601 for the wealth of patch points. I don't think it produces as much resonance as the R*S Serge, but it has a slight amount with the knobs turned all the way up and it generates really nice sounding resonance when you introduce feedback. AMing different bands and feeding the...

Re: Matrix mixer use and abuse

If your matrix can invert signals and has at least 4 ins and outs, you can use it for mid-side / stereo encoding and decoding. Send an offset into a sequential switch, and each output of the switch to your matrix inputs. Then send the matrix outputs to another sequential switch, funneled into a sing...

While Three Sisters doesn't have a ton of patch points, the unique structure of what you can control means you can get a huge range of behaviors out of the patch points that are there.

Re: What are your essential modules for a performance based sampler based rack?

I always like to include some sort of pitch to CV converter when I put sampling systems together. Disting does a decent job, and I use an XOR to patch up phase locked loops if I want things to be grittier. Both will probably need a dedicated bandpass filter depending on how frequency rich the sample...

Re: Cosmotronic Thru Zero Complex Oscillator - Teaser

Looks and sounds nice. I really like the panel layout and the sliders. The way the two oscillators are asymmetric reflections of each other makes me think of chirality, especially with how the controls branch out from the middle. Maybe you could call it the Chiral Oscillator, or Chiral Frequency Gen...

I really like the SDS Digital Reflex Liveloop for old school digital crunch. It's the only eurorack sampler I've come across that lets you record at a variable sample rate, rather than having to pitch stuff down to a lower rate, so you can get that effect in real time.

Re: Nastiest ring-mod module for that Star Wars comms-distortion effect?

I've been playing around with the modulation/demodulation patch all weekend. It's so cool to modulate a few separate audio signals at different frequencies, and send them all to a final ringmod stage to tune between each of them. There's a lot of interference, probably due to not having steep enough...

I don't see why you would need an additional sample player unless you find yourself needing more sound sources. If you do, then there's no need to go for something big and expensive like Morphagene, there are plenty of small, cheap sample playback modules. Disting has a pretty good sample recorder/p...

There's plenty of music that I just straight up don't like. But as far as music that I kind of get, but can't get into, Sonic Youth comes to mind. I like the vibe of the band, some of their songs are awesome, I love how they would switch off singers between songs, and overall feel like I get what th...

I do a ton of radio effects for a podcast but I'd never tried a 2 stage encoding + decoding process like Sandrine and that MakeNoise video outlined. Went ahead and tried it out this morning and I love the result. Signal path here is audio > Befaco A*B+C channel 1 (modulated by an oscillator) > 3 Sis...

Re: Instruo Lúbadh stereo looper

Yeah it sounds great when you send a little noise and an LFO to the speed input for wow and flutter. It also does some nice granular sounding stuff if you set the length to one of its lowest settings and send slewed random to the start CV. And using a sequencer to chop up recordings sounds cool--the...
