Link for Expander sounds on Factory patches

Try this link if the one above does not work. It mainly focuses on demonstrating the ring modulator with the sounds of the Factory patches 1-30 (not in any order)

Expander Build FAQ and known issues

Just realized many people don't do the Facebook thing. I have put together a build FAQ and Issues list from building my expander. Please note: Some of the material is my own opinion and has NOT been verified by Roman or Black Corporation. If you feel it is in error, post here for discussion. The doc...

Rack Mounted Wasp

I built a wooden box with one end open, then used 19" rack drawer slides to install the Jasper into one of my synth racks. The midi, power and audio outs are all wired off the back. It is actually very useable in the configuration, and makes it easier to orchestrate with other synths manually or thr...

Substitute for 2N5460

This may have been asked before, but a search yielded no results. Does anyone know if I can substitute a 2N5461 in place of the 2N5460? They are the same class of P-Channel JFET , but the specs for the "Gate to Source cutoff voltage" "Gate to source voltage", "zero-Gate-Voltage drain current" and th...

Wire

Where in Canada? If you are in Ontario, you can try Princess Auto. Smaller spools of 12 Gauge is available, but may not be tinned. I usually order wire (smaller gauge) from Tayda. Canadian Tire may also have 12 Gauge. You can also buy a trailer wiring harness from both places and repurpose it.

Do yours get stuck at voice 8 when you hold a three-note chord using voices 5-7? Hahahahahaha.....ne...

No Fan

I also built 64/62s on voice and 74/72s on the main and the unit does not need a fan. It gets a tiny bit warm.

The next build

^ dang, man, this looks awesome! Thanks Ando. For the next one though, I am not using the DIY case. I am going to keep the same panel placement for position only, but I think I want to use different sliders (larger ones with pot to board wires), and even try using a larger screen (same 4 pin interf...

Here is mine...Also modified to Pando's ideas. I am however, still waiting for the small black M2.5 screws.... Then I can add the coloured caps. The little white Shruthi on top has Scott's CS80 filter board. If I get some time I am going to try to see if the DDRM can reach the same bottom end this l...

I would sure look them over. There is a large black one in the photo, bottom just left of centre. Is that a 1 watt, tempco or a precision?

Sometime looking over old stock is worth it if. Using them, I have some MIL-Spec that are older. I use them anywhere a 5% is useable. They all measure correctly.

Finally installed the last module, and did the write up.

After 350 hours spread out over a year, I finally finished my hexagon shaped modular. It used almost every MFOS circuit, Ray designed for a modular synth, that was availible. I also included circuits from Thomas Henry, Yusynth, and Barton musical Instruments. Room for 30, 3-3/4" wide x 8-3/4" module...

using a VCO

VCOs like the YuSynth one that work to 1 volt per octave: All that matters is that for each volt, the frequency should exactly double. For CV, I use an accurate stepped voltage source to 3 decimal places. Mine goes from 0 to 7 Volts in 1 volt increments. Example, set the frequency knob to 100 Hz and...

Re: I love this circuit.

I really like your layout! :tu: But I think there's a typo at the range select label - you wrote "Base" - didn't you mean "Bass"? Yea.... stupid autocorrect! I do them in photoshop and then get vinyl stickers to go over the metal panels. They are washable, and fairly resilient to use. Maybe I will ...

Built a unit for my large modular. I run it off +/-12 volts and can get some really cool sounds when thrown into the mix. Here is the panel.Image

[quote=...Words of Wisdom: From oldcrow I have of course built the one I used to test and adjust filter behavior. I made a Mouser cart for BOM Rev1.0.3. I didn't substitute any of the backordered items, I'll just wait for them to arrive. https://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=9ba27b85b3 The cart doesn't include items that the BOM says are sourced from eBay, Small Bear, synthcube, etc...

Re: Bad LM13700s ?

I've been having trouble with a few circuits recently, looking back, they all had one thing on common... LM13700s Yea there are a couple of notorious sellers on eBay. I too bought LM13700s for about $0.40 each, and they all failed miserably. Same with the CA3080s. I stopped buying the chips from eB...

Anyone want to take the plunge (to create a build thread)? It'll take some doing to keep the first post up to date with links and such, if you choose to do that. Re: BOM and clarifications

There is a Facebook group for the DDRM build, but I like the stuff found here on MW and think keeping everything here is best.
