Re: AC-coupled VCAs

Yeh the WMD looks very interesting and versatile. I don't have anything by them to date. andybizarre do you have both that and the Koma, and if so how do they compare in terms of sound? Particularly when run relatively clean The WMD is best if you need to dial in the exact envelope response you wis...

Re: AC-coupled VCAs

WMD MultiMode VCA - has switchable AC-coupling and is one of the most feature packed VCAs available. Koma Elektronik Dual Discrete VCA. Boy, this thing saturates and distorts beautifully and, at the current discount, is a total steal. AJH Minimod VCA is also AC-coupled, but I don`t have that one in ...

Re: Rack Plumber with Nord Drum 2?

The Octalink follows the same wiring layout as the Doepfer A-180-9. I own both, and neither triggers channel 1 of the Nord Drum 2. The other channels work as expected. There`s a lot of discussion about that issue in the General Gear subforum: Nord Drum 2

Re: Why isnt there more Adat interface eurorack manufacturer ?

Why isnt there more Adat interface eurorack manufacturer ? Because ADAT is pro digital audio protocol with a crappy consumer interface connector, made for permanent home or studio installations. It wasn`t made for frequent plugging and unplugging or live/touring abuse. And it`s simply ancient. I al...

Re: Quantizer + Sample and Hold Issues

As a first aid I would try triggering the quantizer with the respective gates of your sequence(s). Secondly, I would attenuate your pitch CV just a tad, in case your quantizer can't decide between two notes. But in most cases, triggering the quantizer solves any glitching issues, especially if pitch...

The Doepfer A-101-1 and the Happy Nerding TriTone first came to mind, don`t know if they fit the bill.

Re: if only Doepfer had done this

I'm German but if I had to choose I'd go for Cyrillic labelling. I love the aesthetics of the Polivoks. I'm from former West Germany. So I don't understand a single Russian word BTW. Yeah, but it needs to be straight Cyrillic. I`m former East german, had to learn Russian in school and I can`t stand...

Re: Drum modules for small setup

With clever sequencing of the BIA`s CV inputs you can easily squeeze 3 drum voices out of your BIA, given the fact that some drum sounds never appear simultaneously. A BSP would be perfect for this, it has 4 CV tracks (pitch & velocity) plus 10 gate outs which you could attenuate to taste.

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

Hi there! Got my unit a while ago and am loving it so far! My Question to the owners: while the single outs on my unit are dead quiet (really!) i am getting some noise in the mix out that seems to be related to menu operations and such. It’s a kind of high pitched whining sound. It changes when you...

Re: Octatrack midi to cv

Polyend Poly MKI? Can this use din midi? Because I don’t see any place to connect one? Poly MKI has MIDI DIN input. MKII uses the increasingly common 1/8" TRS-MIDI jacks. I don`t own any of these, but I`m pretty sure I`ve read somewhere here that you could connect the Octa directly over USB to both...

Re: the DIY cases thread!

Thank you so much for the pictures and explanation! I`m thinking about switching my 5A dual output Bell Power PSU`s with Acopians, since they`re emitting transformer hum and heat excessively. I haven`t decided yet which route to go, there`s still room for improvement with my DIY cases.

Re: Balanced transformer outputs: I have Q's and would like your A's

Have a look at the Vermona TAI-4. In my ears, it does transformer mojo which sounds great with stems or mixes. If you`d like to record your perfectly clean sine wave in an equally perfect way, it might not be the perfect module for you. I love mine, but for really clean recordings I go straight vom ...

Re: harmonic interval sequencer?

I`m using the exponential FM input on my VCOs for harmonic shifts of the sequence supplied via the v/O input. The intervals come from Noise Engineering Tonnetz Sequent. If I recollect correctly, O&C also has a Tonnetz app.

Re: anyone go from modular back in the box?

If I were in your situation, I would sell all outboard gear except the one synth/preamp/you-name-it I liked the best, get a decent cheap computer (for example, based on Ryzen 3700 or the upcoming 4750G with a B550 board) and spend the rest of the money on the best monitors I could afford, a monitor ...

Re: Busboard Recommendations Please

From the Doepfer website: 12V / 2000mA, -12V / 1200mA, +5V/2000mA (max. 4000mA if you swith the 2A-fuse with 4A) You might rethink your power distribution. If your +12V load is 3100mA, I would suggest you get at least two PSU3. Regarding busboards, I went with ACL Eve 1 since the Genus Modu were un...
