Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

I’ve read some contradictory things about live looping functionality, is it possible and easy to do? Or is it achieved via workarounds? It would be cool to be able to sample on quantized steps This is quite easy to do. Just patch a start/stop gate in an available CV input, assign it on the sample p...

Re: Matrix mixer use and abuse

- feedback patching, of course - sequencer building block: you feed it 4 gates, attenuate, and cycle through the matrix mixer`s outputs with a sequential switch. - mid/side encoder matrix - deriving related modulation from my main modulation sources - building FM operators - simply feedback patching...

Re: 4 ms QCD CV imput Div/Mult do not work

Did you work your way through the manual? Jumper settings, trimmers, ribbon connections and so on? Did you get the modules brand new or second hand? Do you have a 5V rail on your case PSU?

Re: Warm Audio Bus Comp question

I have one, and yes, that volume difference when engaging the transformers is normal BUT it only happens when you are patching the compressor's output to unbalanced inputs on the receiving device. When you patch it to balanced inputs there is no volume change when engaging the transformers. That`s ...

Warm Audio Bus Comp question

Does anybody here have one? My recently aquired unit creates a significant gain boost when engaging the transformators, which needs to be compensated for with the make up dial. Like, aprox. a 6db boost. Can anybody tell if this is normal for this processor? I can`t find anything in the manual explai...

Re: Converting audio to gates?

In certain cases the A-152 can be useful for gate extraction, where the audio signal is patched into the CV in. It then acts as simple level meter, with gates fired at their respective audio levels. Of course, this won`t work with dense mixes or simultaneous triggers.

Re: Doepfer A-152 (Addressed T&H/Switch) issue ?

It`s either clock or CV. Perhaps the manual explains it and resolves your issue: "Attention! If the module is be controlled by clock and reset signals the analog control voltage has to remain unchanged as the CV control has priority over the clock/reset control. E.g. simply turn the CV control 2 ful...

Re: Best precise ADAT CV converter?

Honestly, the Caltrans lets you do all that. It even can store profiles and presets. If you attenuate offsets until they`re gone, HW or SW, you probably messed up your V/oct response. The discrepancies you described only matter for me when pitch CV is involved. I attenuate to taste and patch a quant...

Re: Best precise ADAT CV converter?

that being said, the manual tuning and adjusting method per source, would be way easier if the expert sleepers plugins allowed for finer adjustments than achievable by using the arrow keys in the number-field. for higher precision one can enter values manually, but this is tedious. shift+arrow keys...

Re: Why no Thunderbolt audio interfaces for Eurorack? (+Routing)

I was thinking about AES67/Ravenna/Dante type interface modules. The latency might be concerning but the ability to route your modular to all computers in the studio or even to other modular systems, mixers, speakers directly is kinda cool. One could do this with a MOTU LP32 and ES modules via AVB/...

Re: Chord modules vs playing keys

I`m feeling much in the way helix does, but chord modules have a few other tricks in their sleeve, if patched accordingly. For example, if you`re patching the chord module into a sequential switch, you get a nice arpeggiator. Or use the chord elements for RM or FM - lot of sweet spots of carrier mod...

Re: Best precise ADAT CV converter?

Maybe another route for you to research: the Roland AIRA modules also worked as 6in/2out audio interface. They`re DC-coupled througout and, IIRC, perfectly calibrated to zero. If you need more I/O, check out the System 1m, each of its jacks should be DC-coupled and accessible as DAW I/O as well. Tak...

They are not that way off. If you`re monitoring CV on your DAW mixer`s meters, keep in mind that the exponential scaling of that meter displays a few mV of DC offset as said -42db.

nothing can match classic Akai. I fear this is true. They went to quite some lengths back in the day, and I have yet to hear anything, that reaches the same level. Re: Mutable Instruments' Stages, or time to get a "real" function-generator?

With this much modulation already at hand, I would get some utility modules to derive related, interesting modulation from your main modulation sources: matrix mixers, minimum - maximum generators, sequential switches, S&H, OR combiners, offsets/inverters. And some more linear VCAs to automate the p...

Re: what to add to my Neutron

I would go for an A-156 as additional quantizer, S&H source or comparator. Both my A-138m have quite stiff pots which run a lot smoother once warmed up. From my point of view, the A-138m creates some redundancies in your choices, i.e. matrix mixer + clock divider + sequential switch becomes a nice ...

Factors: - What will fit where, with minimum wasted space. - I/O on left edge so it's closer to my audio interface. - Minimizing how much I have to rearrange when I make a minor change. - Ergonomics: reach, angle of controls, angle of view, minimizing crowding of knobs, panels not getting "lost" vi...

There was no technical reason to not use the PL format; nobody is putting 1U tiles in anything but a eurorack case so conforming exactly to 1U height is an arbitrary decision.

Re: 1U Tiles - Did Intellijel bribe all these manufacturers or what?

Was definitely shady what Intellijel did to PL, it's why I would never buy a module from them, but that's just business I guess. If I was a manufacturer I'd produce the PL format tiles but can't blame anyone for going where the money is. Definitely not shady. AFAIK this was a decision solely based ...
