Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"

My wife sent me a link to that article, with the comment "that's like what you do, right?"

NO THATS NOT WHAT LIKE I DO. But I don't mind that others do that

Sometimes I think I should learn something new, but then I realize learning is for nerds. Jeskola Buzz for life, with expert sleepers loaded up in polac vsti controlling my DIY modular. Sometimes I wonder if I should try something new, for future proofing, but nothing let's me sequence so fast with ...

Well, my situation is DIY, which is common enough. I used to have a lot of strange problems, like what sounded like a lot of oscillators humming in the background, but only sometimes. Nothing really major though, it wasn't common enough or loud enough to be unusable. A few years ago I updated my pow...

If I understand your question correctly, no need to DIY anything here; the kick sound is triggered by a gate or pulse or trigger, right? put that trigger into a multiple, one output to the kick sound as before and one output to the reset input on your a-145

I just finished a build of three of these. I changed the values of several capacitors and resistors on two of them. I made two mixers from a tl074, one as the input mixer, two inputs, and then one as the summing mixer of all 14 outputs, that's 12 outputs from the three 194 pcbs and then a 'dry mix' ...

I say on velope but people have criticized me for it at work, in regards to the paper envelopes. I'm Canadian and I work with Americans, Canadians, and Australians and they all have told me this so maybe I just have a speech impediment, or it's regional.

I make sort of pseudo classical music which of course is similar to the idea of classical music with modular like Wendy Carlos and Isao Tomita, but in all honesty I could easily just use some standard monosynth and achieve the same results

But that wouldn't be nearly as fun

just to agree, it shouldn't be filtering audibly with the knob fully clockwise, mine doesn't

I would start by checking the resistor values that you used at r34, r10, r11, and the value of your potentiometer p4 and trimpot t1

Is your power supply +/- 12 or 15 volts?

now this is just me, to each his own and whatever, but I would. The sh-1 is a different synth. I believe the filter is a different circuit than the 101, so it should have a different flavor. also, if you decide you don't like, it is absolutely going to retain its value and you can pass it along. The...

This is why, for ultimate fatness, obesity if you will, someone needs to invent Americarack. It can feature 3-foot high hard plastic front panels with knobs made out of coca-cola bottlecaps. plus and minus 18 volts because more is always better.

doesn't anybody jam out single voice synth lines that they multitrack together while wearing a santa claus hat and a cape like in the old days. The nature of that means no patch is worth saving. If its not usable now, it never will be

One compromise with euro is that in some modules the knobs are too close together, and you can bump into adjacent knobs. I have never actually experienced this myself, but it's a complaint some people have. However, since there are so many different module manufacturers out there, I think it would b...

so I guess I don't make 'modular music' since I use a keyboard and DAW along with my modular, but I was thinking about people do make generative modular kind of music with internal sequencers or whatever. If your modular is big enough, couldn't the patch be changed significantly with like a sequenti...
