Re: Intellijel Palette 4.5U Cases

Decksaver lids are way shallower which makes them more rigid. Their material may be slightly thicker too but this is polycarbonate (aka Lexan) and is technically bullet proof. You can confidently throw this in your back back, sit on it, bump it etc. and it will keep everything in your palette perfe...

Re: Eurorack, next to 5U?

Much as I debated between the two formats when I first got into modular, I'm kind of thinking I might wind up going with both when I get back into such. Sure, it means twice as many patch cables, but both of them have their own unique charms, not to mention different versions on the word "insanity"...

Re: Patch cables. To DIY or just buy?

Analog Craftsman makes some nice looking cables, out of high quality parts too. They're rather nice looking too, but I do have to admit I rather like orange, so I'm kind of biased...

Re: Things you've shifted 180deg on over the years?

I'm going to go with Eurorack as a viable format for me. I ruled it out the first time I dived into the modular scene in relatively short order, because back then there weren't quite the options for having a nice, aesthetically pleasing rack, nor were there quite as many modules that seemed to focus...

Glad to see the forums are back, and even more so, WHOOOOO A DARK THEME!!!

it's going to take a bit to get used to user avatars being on the right, but eh, that's a minor thing ^_^

Ohhhhh, she's a smooth one. Person just outside of left frame had a wireless mic in their left hand, and so I'm guessing that's what she unplugged shortly after they turned their back to her.... Two second takeover while she was still in the mix - mic unplugged, the headphone cable swapped from head...

I figured it out. Check it out at 3:28, she unplugs an XLR cable from the top left of what appears to be a DJM-900NXS: https://www.pioneerdj.com/en/product/mixer/archive/djm-900nxs/black/overview/ At 3:30 she then plugs her headphones into the combi-jack that previously had an XLR cable in it. I'm surprised to hear the NVME drive takes up one of the PCIe slots! That must be an Intel thing, my AMD machine has three dedicated PCIe x4 slots just for NVME drives and nothing else. That's because Ryzen was built from the ground up to be fully functional, and work for not only today's setups, b...

Windows 7 is technically doable on Z370 boards, but.... Let's just say Intel and especially Microsoft didn't make it easy. Part of it is the way the BIOS works, part is how the CPU architechture works, and part of it is that Microsoft will block things in Windows Update if you're using a new archite...

For me, the uniform look does help make it come across as one solid instrument, and it also just looks better when not in use to me. Well, if you ignore cable spaghetti anyways - sometimes that doesn't look pretty no matter what you do. That's what got me to initially choose MU as my main format... ...

Sliding nuts have one problem - MU and MOTM use different mounting distances, so you'd have to have a small amount of play within the rail in order for the nuts to accomodate such. This isn't a problem for wood cases, assuming you have enough thickness to the mounts, because you can just change wher...

Late to the party by a few months, but since I'm looking at getting back into modular sometime in the near-ish future, it's definitely interesting...
