Yes. This. Buy all the modules there are to buy. Make all the modules there are to make. Design some of your own and make those. When that's done you'll probably find yourself out in the woods hitting trees with sticks and recording it...

Re: [PROJECT] Music Thing Simple EQ
So I just built up two of these. For one I picked 150 nF caps in the tilt circuit (C3 and C5) to put the tilt center freq at about 220 Hz (A3 note). I like it. Haven't put the C3 and C5 caps in my second unit yet...trying to decide what center tilt freq to do (suggestions welcome). Below is a table ...

Re: Favorite stereo output module?
I am using (and am very happy with) a silver version of the WMD pro output module (did WMD change all their modules to black graphics? Strange...) You may also want to check out the Joranalogue transmit 2 (I don't have one but it looks cool). I tend to shy away from stereo out modules with independe...

Re: MI Kinks Signals Inverted
I did some more testing and comparisons with another logic module. Min/max appear to be working fine. It's only the sign section that is inverted. I have a recent kinks and it behaves properly (in accordance with the panel graphics and the schematic: https://mutable-instruments.net/modules/kinks/do...

Digisound filters have tricky boms and unpopulated parts. I found the original 80s build doc useful but the euro has different resistors. Anyway there is a thread here https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=197467&hilit=digisound Yes. I am a dumb dumb and had installed R33, which on...

Re: KNOBS!
I like to use cut-up cereal box cardboard as my panel protector. Then twisting a flat blade screwdriver under the knob usually does the trick, but bicycle tire tools are a great idea (and the ones i have are plastic), so I'll give that a try in the future.

Re: a legend is back...System-700 in eurorack
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I was able to trace a signal to the CA3080s and the opamps and all seemed to be OK. In the process of doing this I revisited my choice not to place the 10uF capacitor marked NP on the board. I referred back to the mouser cart associated with the BOM (a...

Yes, they are just the AML EZ-1073 kits in cases from http://collectivecases.com/ . I am now looking at the ka-electronics MS Matrix PC Board to go along with them.

I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem and could help me troubleshoot my 703F VCF build. It takes power without issue and there's no magic smoke. If I turn up the resonance all the way it appears to self-oscillate, as the top LED lights up (and I can control this with CV into the resonan...

Re: AJH black vs silver knobs?
No, they are both great knob styles. 1900 knobs are about 12.2 mm dia, AJH black module knobs are about 11.7 mm dia (but have a tang indicator also), so no huge difference here. Might be slightly easier to get fingers in between the smaller ones, but either one is fine. I would pick the AJH color sc...

My spontaneous reaction now was that negative should be blue then - you know, like with temperature... :hmm: Actually blue stars (or any black-body type radiation things) are the hottest, and red is cooler... :coffee-cheers: All 6 in 1, 0.5*(bakers dozen - 1) in the other I guess though... DLF and MOSPhaser success...
Took me about 8 months or so, but finally finished these! I would recommend using short bat switches for them though as space for knob turning is tight; I used these: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Dailywell/2MS1T2B3M2QES?qs=%2Fha2pyFadujYJ4BfmV69NUnIyU1MMMW7DHzeZdBM2k7oDUrk%2F%252BAvn5UBd8KUR...

Yea I would say about 10-20% of my tiptop stackable cables have been trashed. Had to get the behringer ct100 cable tester due to these. Love the idea and the good cables, but they are not all good.

Cool! Thanks for the comments and links guys. I have been using 707 samples a lot lately and there are so many people sampling the machines out there, just got me to wondering how those samples were originally created. Neato stuff. I wonder if the engineers ever imagined people would still be using ...

Does anybody know how old drum machine (thinking of roland 707) samples were recorded? Were they just real drums recorded real dry by different people contacted by Roland, Yamaha, etc.? Just curious about this.

Re: Bread and Butter Analog Oscillators in 2020
This thread will quickly turn into everyone recommending their own personal favorite oscillator. For me that's the WMD/SSF Spectrum, simply because of its versatility and ease of use. One thing I always like to see is 5 knobs: coarse tuning, fine tuning, FM attenuation, pulse width, and PWM attenua...
