Looks Like Signal Sounds up in scotland are picking up a lot of the Doepfer basics slack ;)
Ah, interesting, thanks :)

Jason turned around my EX damn quick in May so I would definitely use Signal Sounds again for future modules

You could straighten them nails up easy if it bugs you so. Nah, still seems to be doing the job, two months in  Ps my cables are a mess, then I patch them into a tangled heap, where they stay until boredom strikes, eat sleep repatch. Well, that is the other option haha ;) Not sure!??!? Pff...

Do Not Adjust Your Set (normal service will resume shortly)

I've managed to pull some kind of Electro Pop Tune out of the bag. To be honest, it almost got binned. I had this thing patched up for what must have been three weeks. It had gotten quite complex, for me. I ended up ditched a couple of parts because they just weren't working. A shame, because one of...

Re: Post pics of your modular/studio setup!

Is symmetry of layout a good enough reason? 1 oscillator/1 disting? Or do I need to get an EX? Just out walking the dogs. Will be YouTubing the EX in more depth when I get in! Cogs are whirring!! I get what you are saying with regards to symmetry but you need to consider what you will be getting wi...

Re: Post pics of your modular/studio setup!

Well.... to my utter dismay, you can’t actually buy a disting MK4 anywhere at the moment, I am waiting on 2 more to come into stock at Signal Sounds (big shout, really helpful guys) and when they arrive my 84hp set up will look like this! Feel free to roast! Nice, but why are you not getting a sing...

Hi Si :) Yeah I watched a vid but it was just a black screen with sound. Thanks. A bit strange that. Plays okay for me. Mind you, you're not missing much  Looking forward to watching your YouTube vid. So am I haha! I might still get bored of it. Certainly that practice I did wasn't worth do...

Re: I'm going "live" in a bit... What is the accepted etiquette here?

I don’t see anything just a black screen with sound. Yeah, that's all you see when there is no live content. You click on the name and it takes you to another page where you can then see any videos that are available. Nice sound mind :tu: Did you manage to watch a video then? The view count does se...

I can´t watch. Adult content. What the hell are you doing? :hihi:
LOL!

I set it to adult content while I was streaming DOOM Eternal, which is an adult rated game.

I've now turned adult content off, so, thanks for the heads up on that

1) East coast vs. West Coast
I think you will find that a topic like that is best explored by the learner via research. There is so much on the interwebs about that, especially YouTube, and it makes for an excellent watch.

@synkrotron my solder skills are ok. I can replace an ic. I do not have a flow oven for smd but I have a pretty nice solder station for bigger parts... I designed pcbs for Pinball machines in eagle so I am no pro but I did a lot of practise in soldering. You'll be fine, then. I think the IC's on th...

Re: Sound design workflow

Percussion is not necessary though :) Especially if you like droney or berlin school type stuff. Which I do :D Yes, droney stuff from me with the occasional sequencer stuff. May I suggest one shot sci-fi bubbly sounds instead? Yes, I have done a small amount of that. But, again, I tend to let the s...

Yeah, there were two posts by a new member each with links to sites selling ammunition. They have gone now.

I should have reported them myself I suppose.

Re: n00b first mini modular "what do i need?" question

I really liked the WASP filter you suggested i watched youtube a lot and that filter is amazing. Yes, the Wasp is, indeed, a great little sounding filter which has a unique character. Back in the day I had the cheaper Gnat by the same company (Electronic Dream Plant) that made the Wasp synth, on wh...

I have no idea what Ableton-style muting is but from your description in your post I think I could use something like that.

I have a Beatstep Pro which does the same queuing thing but I have always thought it would be great to have something else as well as that.

Re: Sound design workflow

I do a similar thing. I have a reasonable size system but I still run out of modules when I start mixing a load of stuff just to get one sound. Sometimes I have half a dozen oscillators and filters all mixed together with all my modulation sources used up. That sound will then be recorded as either ...
