Re: Populating and soldering pcbs

I'm not sure two small IC sockets will work the same as a large one. They have a small edge around them. Using two small ones could result in the edge obstructing full insertion of the IC. I would check that first.
Otherwise enjoy your first build and i hope it all works.

Great to hear you found some time to finish it up. I had a quick look at the repository, thanks for adding the detailed BOM and a drill file for the faceplate!

I would like to buy a board from you or another EU source.

Re: Recommended high quality eurorack DIY brands

I have built a couple of kits i bought from Thonk, they were all nice to build: Music Thing Modular, befaco, Dannysound, AI synthesis.
Synthrotek, David Haillant and some stuff on Tindie.com was also fun.

In 4u there is Slightly Nasty, which has great documentation.

I would also be insterested, specifically in paperface style graphics. Have been searching and found some old Serge manuals and a couple of graphics, but no template or guideline.

I found this info in the datasheet from your links: Use With2478 Crimp Terminals for 18-24 AWG, 2578Crimp Terminals for 22-26 AWG I think that would be these: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/?qs=zi95yC3thwEn8WhcIJBXDA%3D%3D Please be sure to verify this in the datasheets. Re: Alternative to Befaco Bananuts?

I had made a case before, where i had planned to make passive multiples in the case itself. There was a rail between the two rows of 3u. I had thought about putting colored stickers on the hole and then mounting the jack through it, so you could easily identify the connections. Kind of like on the m...

Who not use colored rings under your current nuts. Maybe just from circle stickers.

I would try either desolder wick or heat it up with you solder iron and then dab a surplus resistor leg in and out.

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

I want to build one, unfortunately some Mouser parts are out of stock until mid September. Also don’t know where to source the Song Huei pots with the short shaft, those are also out of stock @Thonk. Banzai has that brand: https://www.banzaimusic.com/song-huei/ I saw this kit before, but the interf...

Re: DIY aluminium case: yes or no?

I have done powdercoating for a while. You need to sandblast the case, then apply the powder and then bake it. I used an old electric oven for powdercoating only. It is not that hard, but you need an air compressor and some space. You could also sand the case, but you would see scratches since the p...

Re: DIY aluminium case: yes or no?

I have built a couple of aluminium cases. I am a professional metal worker (mostly steel), so i have the proper tools. I painted the cases, because i don't have an anodising setup. Powdercoating is a very nice finish, but paint can also be a good finish. You can use wood tools for cutting. I spray a...

Re: CNCs for aluminum panel work

You could build you own cnc mill, using a motor/controller kit and aluminium extrusion profiles for the frame. Or get a local welder to make the frame. I sometimes use a laser cutting service, where you can upload a drawing and have it the object shipped. The cost is very exceptable. For reference y...

Re: 1-a-day synth wood work project

I think it would have helpend if you cleaned the oily skin off of the steel angle profile. Using the tig i would still chase the threads after, just because the heat required can deform the nut. I only use tig for exotic materials or precision work. The rest is mig. Personally i would have drilled a...

They look like the trimmer pots, that Thonk also sell.
They aren't meant to have knobs. I can't find a datasheet and i don't have any, so no clue of the shaft diameter.

Is there some secret way you can buy those knobs by themselves? I can only find that you can get them if you buy them as part of a kit. Kind of an expensive way to get not enough of them... They have them listed seperately here: https://capi-gear.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_117_120&produc...
