The jacks in the mockup are not true to size. A 1U panel will be overcrowded (IMO).

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
You've now 'boxed' the pot on three sides. Not good. And put two switches which could formerly be handled either or both with one action, too far apart to now do the same. No, it's not boxed. The switches are shorter than knobs and having three in a row is actually more constraining. (the middle sw...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
you could also consider moving the SMOOTH/STEPPED switch up, on the outside, in line with the LEDs.
In this case, you wouldn't need the MODE label.
This would unclutter the space between knobs, living only EXPO CYCLE CYCLE EXPO.

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
this reads as: ON or CYCLE, SMOOTH or STEP, PRE or POST
which begs the question: what is ON? what is PRE? what is POST?

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
There's also a problem with the coupler labels. The use of 2-line labels like CYCLE OUT and S/H IN makes it unclear, whether COUPLE OUT+ is a single label, or does COUPLE also relates to OUT±.
consider COUPLE+ and COUPLE± instead.

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
the labeling on the switches looks off because of the inconsistent use of header labels. EXP has a header as well as a legend. SMOOTH/STEP has no header, only a legend CYCLE has a header/legend hybrid + legend consider instead: | MODE | CYCLE | EXPO | |:-----:|:------:|:------:| | SMOOTH | ON | PRE ...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
But in Serge modules jack color and physical position are used to replace the 'missing' IN or OUT label. the colors on Serge indicate a type of signal, not IN/OUT. Black=AC coupled signals; blue=DC coupled signals; red=Trigger signals, violet=sync Cycle was moved below the switch to eliminate label...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
consider replacing: CV IN > CV S / H IN > S/H CYCLE OUT > CYCLE or LOOP - it's common to skip "IN" or "OUT" on Serge modules also, since we are already deviating from the original labels COUPLE OUT + > A>B OUT+ or COUPLE + OUT ± > OUT± or COUPLE ± The CYCLE below the switch is misleading. It suggest...

Re: Pots on Manis Iteritas Magnus as attenuators?
@MrNezumi... I'm not a Boomer. I'm a Millenial. I think the latest incarnations of Krisp1 and Corsynth have gotten on par with STG Soundlabs, Moon Modular, and Happy Nerding in representing the standard for modern Moog Unit/5U panel esthetics. I wish all the manufacturers went away from powder coat...

Re: Pots on Manis Iteritas Magnus as attenuators?
I bought Manis and Basimilus despite the looks but replaced the ugly knobs. Do you remember, that the NE original panel design was even more... "different". They don't sell it anymore.

Re: Pots on Manis Iteritas Magnus as attenuators?
OK Boomers. Get out of the way and let the next generation of 5u users through. If knobs that aren’t in a straight row and two knobs with unique names have you this upset just take your heart medicine and sit in your rocking chair. If you don't care about the small details of a good, user-friendly ...

Moon M530 Delay - IC Chip
Does anybody know what kind of IC does Moon M530 use for digital processing?
The 3–3000 ms range is really impressive, far exceeding the popular Princeton PT2399, so I assume it's DSP-based.
Could someone please look it up on the pcb?

Re: Need a boring module - cv shifter
Similar to Moon M525M CP Attenuator/Mixer, the regular M526 Reversible Mixer could probably be modified to provide voltage offset on one of the unsued inputs. @LesMoMo what would be a reliable 10V source on the M526 pcb?

Re: Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP - ANNOUNCED
You are right, I should have made it the same functional size. Sorry about that.
The size difference wasn't intentional. I just grabbed all 3-per-row modules on Modulargrid.
Found it interesting to see who actually makes most of them.

because it's not an intellectual comparison. It's to make a point about subjective perception of the underlying technical principle. There can be beauty in technical design. It involves efficiency, balance, clarity, consistency. I don't see it in those condensed modules. Just my 2 cents. Your mileag...

Re: Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP - ANNOUNCED
May I ask why did you build your high-density system in MU in the first place? Why not do it in Euro? It seems like the result would neither be as dense as Euro, nor would it look like MU anymore. By "not looking like MU", I mean that a single-width module would become the main logical building bloc...
