Re: Does this functionality exist in a switch module?

Seems to me that Frames could do this. Trigger into all then set four key frames with the desired outputs.

Re: MI Streams - How are you using it?

It took me a while to get to like Streams, but it has been very versatile for me now that I've gotten more used to it. I primarily use it for the LPG and envelope follower modes and occasionally for compression. I've haven't used the envelope/VCF/VCA much lately. Not surprisingly it pairs very well ...

Re: Why do I need an envelope follower?

The Disting is also DC coupled and can be used as a cv delay.

Re: Why do I need an envelope follower?

Envelope followers are great for external signals, but I also like using them for internal signals as well. In a typical patch I may have four voices going each doing their own thing. With an envelope follower I can use one voice to modulate some aspect of another. One favorite trick of mine is to r...

Re: What are your goals when it comes to modular synthesis?

My goal when I started was just to start making some music, to have a creative outlet other than writing poetry (which is hard) or doing improvisational theater (for which I'm dependent on a successful audition). Along the way, I've discovered that what I like best is building patches that will run ...

I've done some explorations with this exact use case: harmonica into modular. I have a Disting mk III that does pitch-to-CV and also the RS-35. I have found the RS-35 to perform much better at this task. Because I'm using a mic, there is always a bit of ambient noise in the input signal whenever I'm...

Nick Cave is an artist I've never listened to much, so I'm unfamiliar with most of his work. But I've been listening to Ghosteen over and over. I find it profoundly moving.

Euro: Faux Shift Register

Something I've been playing with lately: using two Ornament & Crime modules to create a shift register simulation. O&C #1 runs the Quadraturia app, with the four LFOs set out of phase in quadrature mode. These outputs are fed into the second O&C in the Quantermain app. Select your favorite scale, gi...

Just match the red stripe to -12 v. The direction the cable wants to lie in just depends on how the connector was attached.

Do you know if it has the original Frames OS, or Parasites installed? Good question. I'll check when I'm next in front of it. um ... how would I do that again? :) :hmm: Easy check is for LFO mode in Parasites. Press and hold both buttons to engage mode selection, then turn the 3rd knob to engage LF...

I think Rings would be a good choice. It's very easy to get nice sounds and doesn't require much patching to do so.

Reviving an old thread to post a trick that worked for me with double triggers on the Nord Drum (original). I just got a uGrids and was getting double triggers to the ND just as I always have with Marbles. I have a couple of Stages so I patched the outs from uGrids into Stages gate in while set up a...

What's my genre?

What kind of music is this? I've just released my first solo album, Árboles. Entirely made with my modular synth, recorded live to DAW with minimal post processing. One of the tracks does have an overdubbed harmonica (processed through the modular). I don't know what to tell people about what kind o...

I do one-take recordings ... over and over again. When I build a patch, I'm trying to create a structure that will play itself with minimal intervention from me, or sometimes a patch that I master control from one module (usually Frames). As I build the patch, I'll record some takes. As the patch ev...

I've also got two--one original and one hemispheres. Before hemispheres I would have happily had two running the original firmware. So dang useful and I don't mind the menu-diving (in either firmware) because it is easy and intuitive and once I've got it dialed in to the patch, I can leave it alone ...

I've built up my system over the past 2.5 years slowly, starting with a Mother 32 and buying mostly used. I've now filled 2 cases of 3x84HP rows and that's as big as I want to get. I really recommend thinking along the lines of function. Starting from the M32, I knew I'd be wanting a second oscillat...

I just got a LZW WK1 (Aroom version). It's a 3 channel precision adder: 3 independent inputs each transposed by the same amount by the voltage on input 4. Three separate outs.

One thing I've been thinking about more lately is which modules work well together and placing them close to each other. Like the noise engineering modules all have cv ins without attenuators, so attenuators next to them work well. Or, the mannequins Just Friends works great in sound mode with an a...

The top half of an A-149 plus a Brain Seed will go a long way. Feed the 2^n output into the Seed In and the n+1 output into the Shift on Brain Seed.

I also love Ornament & Crime for this, the Copier Maschine app is really great.

But now I have Marbles and that is even more fun.
