Re: Sequencers that are not stuck in 12TET

Henry, when I say embrace analog, I mean a knob for cv. So you could have a row of knobs controlling pitch another row controlling velocity etc.. definitely not as integrated as a midi system, but ultimately more flexible. Would take a lot of space. But something like the AS oberkorn for example. Ma...

Re: Sequencers that are not stuck in 12TET

The more I think about it... take your ideas and approach them with a strictly analog synthesizer mindset -and roll with it! That’s the glory of analogue synths. no limits, no norms, bring it on!

Re: Sequencers that are not stuck in 12TET

So... Midi was designed around “12TET”. So was 1v/oct. .. I think analog sequencers may be your best bet.
Or maybe an iPad app that can real-time
Calculate the note +- pitchbend to hit your desired note frequency.

Gotta be some microtonal able sequencers out there, no??

Re: THE SPACE CASE TE-2 - Eurorack / Standalone Echo + Tape Unit

I think the microcontroller was envisioned to essentially “push the buttons”. So midi can turn the motor on and off, enable the rec on off.. set step position? tempo sync the sequencer? Lots of ic’s on that pcb though! DAC’s? ADC’s! multiplexers? If it was just to push some buttons I don’t think it ...

What’s juvenile is how some dbags raked Jim and his project over the coals because they didn’t like how he was handling things. I’d have been outta here way before he left. The update only confirms the progress we all saw on the Instagram page. We also got the amazing perk of getting to “see” a fuzz...

Re: THE SPACE CASE TE-2 - Eurorack / Standalone Echo + Tape Unit

Here’s the update. Motor control board is working well. Minor tweak needed in terms of components sizes. Power jack is wrongnsize, supply board needs to be reworked for that. Digital microcontroller board is next. Happening now iirc. Analog control board comes last to allow for any changes in these ...

If actual information (technical or other) from the designer/manufacturer is off-limits as a topic of discussion, then no wonder the thread is an emotive mess. What else is there to talk about? How about requiring proof of payment to post in the thread, or maybe charging inquirers for each answer t...

Re: THE SPACE CASE TE-2 - Eurorack / Standalone Echo + Tape Unit

What's the reason? The buyers update thing was started at the bottom of page 18. It stemmed from a pre-order customer who wanted information about shipping dates etc., because he had money in the game. So Jim decided, and I agree, that info for people who have paid can and should be different than ...

Re: THE SPACE CASE TE-2 - Eurorack / Standalone Echo + Tape Unit

Behringer might do a Space Echo copy or similar, but working with tape is probably not suitable for them. There arent lots of companies producing good quality tape components. The Behringer copies they release use new components to generate the sound of old devices, but with tape you cant really do...

Re: Gotharman's Little deFormer 3

Having the ability to mess up samples —where needed— is what makes a machine broadly useful. Everything getting messed up out of ones control is what leads to everything sounding “samey”. And I know that’s a generalization, but... I’ll stick with it. Like the “vintage” knob on the new Prophets. It a...

If even one pin is causing an issue, you will most likely see that with the leds. So test it like they say to. Sounds like you’ve done a thorough visual check which is good enough for through hole parts 95% of the time.
