Re: Buchla-compatible adaptations of Mutable modules

Thanks for asking. No ETA yet. It's been prototyped but needs another hardware revision. This will be a good addition to the Buchla ecosystem though since it's a bit like having a 6-channel MARF and you can chain up to six units together for 36 "stages" in total.

DAO and MSV will work with the stock firmware. No ETA for the DR and SMP firmware, haven't looked at this code in about two years and need to make sure that what gets published is actually the final working version, that'll take some time.

Re: MEMS and The University of Illinois Buchla 200

Great post, thanks for the project update. Enjoyed the nerdy typography tangent too, really appreciate that level of attention to detail. The sides of those cases might have been drawn with a French curve and scaled up. Another old-school analog design technique akin to using Letraset for making fil...

Re: Post pics of your euro setup!

This is one of the cleanest and comfyest setup I have seen. Love the uniformish cases. Very cozy and looks like a great room to patch in! Agree, was going to say the same. I like how that looks with everything side by side, plus you can just keep expanding horizontally (if your desk is wider thank ...

Sub $100 guitar pedals, junk mixers, and $20 tape recorders on eBay will work wonders.

Re: Unveil your secrets

It's probably not much of a secret but carefully reviewing the full Doepfer lineup can be quite illuminating. Newer brands get all the hype but there are plenty of weird and interesting modules in the Doepfer product line and they don't cost much either.

Re: Cwejman in 2020.

Your best bet seems to be emailing Maho or sending her a Facebook message and getting on the list for whatever's going into production soon. There is also a Facebook group where she and Wowa announce new batches and solicit feedback, etc. As in the past it could take years to get all the modules you...

Re: Grayscale Algorhythm: Polyrhythm firmware + black panel

Haven't updated this thread in a while. Three things: 1. Mylar Melodies posted this video a few weeks ago, using the Algo with the "Polyrhythm" firmware to full effect. https://youtube.com/watch?v=4jCCzpWBsFs&t=3s 2. This led to an influx of people asking why they couldn't buy the module. Well, ther...

Re: Emcloned no longer active?

Thanks @captnapalm for picking up the slack on this. Hope you can get the domain sorted out. I'd guess that Dave Brown's site has many (if not most) of the critical mods documented. Ideally this documentation would be added to electricmusicstore.com instead of being buried on a "secret" forum. Seems...

Re: Supercell: expanded version of Clouds + Superparasites firmware

Thanks. I suppose Emilie agrees: https://twitter.com/mutable_instrum/status/1294611738206392320 Spotted another VCV Rack demo which uses 8 instances of Supercell, each with one of the Superparasites modes active, pretty interesting idea. Maybe we'll implement automatic switching of the front panel g...

Is it safe to come out now :ninja: I wanted to mention that the Supercell plugin for VCV Rack is now available: https://library.vcvrack.com/Grayscale/Supercell The Grayscale plugin is free, and so is VCV Rack: www.vcvrack.com Here's a 45-minute overview from Omri Cohen which explores all 8 modes of ...

Re: Supercell: expanded version of Clouds + Superparasites firmware

Kinda raises the question of what's the point of a creative commons license in the first place? Legally, Wes was in the clear; public opinion says Wes was out of line. Given the public outcry in this tiny community when someone breaches, or even questions, the spirit of a license, why have an offic...

Re: Buchla-compatible adaptations of Mutable modules

@ehafh – source files are here: https://github.com/1979modular/modules @toumpouris – thanks, well that's interesting. I doubt that there is any difference, these digital modules are operating at the same sample rates, etc as the Eurorack versions. Some might argue that the Buchla power spec provides...

Re: Supercell: expanded version of Clouds + Superparasites firmware

Just build your own code from the ground up instead of basing it on another's work. Everyone ok with that? I love what you've done, but if you're not planning on abiding by the wishes of the original creator, then don't touch it. This seems pretty black and white. Well, to be clear, this is not abo...

Re: Supercell: expanded version of Clouds + Superparasites firmware

Dude, if you can't deal with the fallout of releasing your products through an open source license, maybe try not borrowing open source material for your designs? You're probably right. The upside of doing these adaptations might not be worth the downsides. Maybe I should put my energy elsewhere. I...

One particular issue that happened with a dealer a few months ago made me feel that taking down the repo ...

There was no point in doing so, I knew exactly what the response w...

Also, check your own words: Hmm, maybe you should check the date on those words and stop pretending that changing one's mind is impossible. And also stop pretending that I never published any source files – I did, until recently. I wouldn’t if he’d respond in the other thread. Didn't even see the o...

Re: Supercell: expanded version of Clouds + Superparasites firmware

Developing and supporting hardware isn't free, even when it's built on an open source project. I work 7 days a week on this stuff and I'm not putting in the hours just to give the cloners free hardware to sell at "built in the spare bedroom" prices. Bad faith approach to business: everything is open...

Still a lot of new manufacturers appearing. Up to 552 across the world now.
That's wild, I'd guess that less than half are actively producing but 550+ is pretty impressive. Only 427 are listed on ModularGrid FWIW.

FWIW they've been in stock continuously for a few years. Did the first Maths panels back in 2013.
