Re: Behringer Roland System 100M clone

Mmm. Not sure about the lifetime of those jack sockets. See around the 15 min mark. He also questions the price-point excuse by contrasting the jack sockets with a similarly priced Dreadbox module.

Re: Quantizers in 2020

i use the addac207. Powerful and immediate. I've never had a problem with it. ...but damn ... cuz $450 bucks is why .. Agreed. It's not cheap. I mentioned it because the OP specifically brought it up. It would be cheaper of course to get an O&C. Having said that, if like me you have an aversion to ...

For example, the documentary someone posted on here with the guy making sound devices to communicate with aliens - that was right up my alley.
That sounds like fun. Do you still know where that link is?
I did try searching but "aliens" yields a surprising number of results.

Re: Mixer AND multitrack audio interface?

You might want to check out the K-Mix from Keith McMillen. It's not a module but still pretty compact. I've used one for a couple of years.

Re: List of Voltage Ranges of Modules

Not being funny but I simply made sure I have both attenuation and amplification available in my rack ( pretty much essential capabilities anyway) and a scope (Dave Jones O'tool) and no longer have to worry. I mix Serge, Verbos and a bunch of other modules without issue. Unless you stick to a single...

Re: mix outputs to DAW for recording

I use a Keith Mcmillen K-Mix.
Works as a standalone, portable 8 channel mixer but also operates as an 8 channel audio interface.
Handles most of my modular level signals without clipping.

Re: 2nd Oscillator Opinions

Thanks! I had looked into the generate 3 a while ago, but forgot about it, I will take another look. Also, how do you see the STO among the other options (spectrum, mangrove, or foundation). It is also high on my list, but I am not sure what would be the best fit for my rack. Funny you mention the ...

Re: 2nd Oscillator Opinions

Regarding the original question: Given your reaction to some of the digital options (a sentiment I share) I think you've already mentioned some very sensible options: Spectrum, Mangrove, Verbos Foundation. Another option to consider might be the Joranalogue Gen3. A great VCO, quite small, very power...

Re: 2nd Oscillator Opinions

MI Elements. Hands down. Sorry, but... The OP says he wants an oscillator that is "a bit smaller". He says he "looked more into plaits and rings...watched some videos and they just don't do it for me". He says "so many digital oscillators they all just started to sound like digital oscilators". He ...

Re: random*source love

This has freaked me out a bit. A while ago one of my R*S NTOs started losing pitch stability and drifting all over the place. I had it repaired (pots replaced) and it's been fine since then. Today my other NTO, from a different builder, has now lost pitch stability as well. I assume (hope) the issue...

I’m just starting to use mine and those half-rectified outputs are a simple stroke of genius. Could someone explain to me why having a random generator spend half its time at zero is a...

I thought most people want to make music so they can extract that gilded thorn burrowed inside their soul to show those around them that something beautiful came from all those years of silent suffering.

Re: Verbos Complex Oscillator and Vactrols?

There is a comparison video. I watched it expecting to hear only minimal differences. Instead I was really taken aback by how much better the older vactrol version sounds, especially the wave folder. I feel slightly cheated to be honest. I bought the Verbos CO on the basis of online videos and the p...

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer

What effects are people liking with their Lyra? If I add delay or reverb, it gets lost in the big sound output. It doesn't need any more distortion. The Maander sequencer above seems to work well. I've used a pretty huge external reverb but in this context it obviously sounds less washed out if you...

For me it had to be the nuclear reactor control room green ;) Some signal boost is likely required to ...

Re: Rich, expansive sounding synth

Call me crazy, but the Vermona PerFOURmer also has parts of the magic I'm looking for. The Perfourmer is beautiful. I had one but eventually sold it to fund the Eurorack addiction... this was a mistake. It has a particular sound and it's quite a job to program all the voices identically if you want...

Re: Keith McMillen K-Mix - MIDI controllable AI/mixer

Is anyone here running the K-Mix with OSX Catalina and Logic 10.5.1? I'm suddenly having problems with my K-Mix dropping in and out. It's also sometimes causing Logic to freeze - no doubt because of the constant flood of messages as it drops in and out (pulling the usb out clears the freeze). Either...

So many answers here recommending modules for panning that do not implement a proper pan-law.
:bang:

Though the ADDAC 805 pans properly according to ADDAC.

Ladik, Cold Mac, Planar II, MN X-Pan, and a whole bunch of other Eurorack panners and crossfaders are linear.
