Re: MacBook -> Windows 10 -> Thunderbolt -> FireWire

Hello - reviving this old thread. I think I may be in a similar position - Running a Mac with firewire at the moment but needing an upgrade for studio purposes. Thinking of a gaming laptop that uses windows 10 but desk/interface only records via firewire. I have re-searched and it seems that windows...

Midas venice f24 acting weird - help needed please

Hello, My desk has all of a sudden started to act a little strange.. Can't get my head around it... Maybe I moved a knob while dusting it but as far as I'm aware everything is where it should be.. let me try and explain. Master outs are going in too monitors.. L/R. That's all fine... but L/R are not...

Well, turns out my PSU gave 9 V insted of 12 V ...
I'm having the same issue but happening from the get-go.

What was the work around for fixing it?

If anyone else sees this post and has an idea feel free too chime in.

Cheers

it has +ve and -ve instead

+ve is like turning maths channel 1 attenuverter fully cw
-ve is like turning maths channel 1 attenuverter fully ccw

by the look of it..

if you want to get the attenuverter functionality crossfade the 2 outputs

Cool, thanks a bunch!

Re: Maths channel 1 out, into OSC FM

Okay... so just too cap this one off.. apologies for coming back too it. I've literally just discovered that theres a make noise function... it looks identical to one side of the maths except no attenuator. Done a little reading about it and it seems that the function is 1 channel of maths without a...

Re: Maths channel 1 out, into OSC FM

When you say "stick fm into an LFO at audio rate" I have three questions: 1. FM is "frequency modulation" so I think of that as a thing you patch INTO not patch from "FM" into an LFO. 3. What is audio rate? The LFO? The modulation you're applying to it? 2. Is it possible what you're describing is j...

Re: Maths channel 1 out, into OSC FM

Thanks for the reply Luke. FM was going in to Maths and then cycling it. Cool, something too think about. Shouldn't have sold the maths but I couldnt justify that price for what I was using it for :foul: You mean one of the maths channels was cycling and going into the FM on an oscillator? I would ...

Re: Maths channel 1 out, into OSC FM

Most likely you were frequency modulating the oscillator at audio rates. If you send Maths to an FM input it’s either going to make the pitch go up and down slowly (relatively speaking) or very fast. Fast sounds really cool. Slow can be good for some things too. Yeah, I mean from what I know it sou...

Re: Maths channel 1 out, into OSC FM

I mean, thanks for the insight.. it’s answerrs like that, that make me feel stupid. I should really learn more about modular instead of just buying 😄 0v? What do you mean? Don’t have an a172z I’ll check it out though. Would this give me the same sound as what happens when I do it with maths? Totally...

Maths channel 1 out, into OSC FM

Hi,

Was wondering if someone here could explain too me what's going on when I go from a channel on maths into the OSC FM? Cant seem to get the same effect with any other module. Recently sold my maths, could someone tell me a module that does the same thing?

Cheers

Re: Setting levels for hardware synth recording

Sillyquestions I have a few suggestions for you: - buy Izotope Ozone Elements. It goes on sale for $1 regularly. You put it on your master bus, and it can suggest master EQ settings based by comparing what it hears VS some built in heuristics. Now here's the thing, don't just let it apply extreme E...

Re: Setting levels for hardware synth recording

I can never turn it up in the car without there being too much bass. So back too the drawing board I go and try too cut some low end too help it but then it just drops in level. That there is a tell tale sign of the bass being mix too loud in your track, you probably need to cut some of the lowest ...

Re: Setting levels for hardware synth recording

Quick reply to sillyquestions (many know this way better than me so take it with a grain of salt). Don't worry to much about that. Headroom is good if you want to master your music. When a song is mastered it will also get to louder. No need to boost everything. Just make sure it is recorded good a...

Re: Setting levels for hardware synth recording

Just having a read through this, I guess my question that’s been going on in my head kind of relates. Not trying too take over the thread, rather than starting a new one I reckon it fits in this, but apologies if that’s not how it works. I’m spending a lot of time at the moment trying to get my mixe...

Re: How to keep bass mono?

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions. My wording was all wrong. Im sure it is possible to use a single seperate out and the rest on the main out. What I meant when I said what I said was it's not an option. Hence the reason for asking what I asked. I like it all going through the main output, I just don't...

Re: How to keep bass mono?

If you want something for a live situation and you are not going through a DAW then something like https://avensonaudio.com/mid-sider/. If you go into a DAW there are plenty of plug ins that do mid/side processing and if you use Ableton Live EQ8 has mid/side functionality or you could build a rack ...

Re: How to keep bass mono?

Thanks for the suggestions. Ideally it would be used in a live situation(if that ever comes). Just trying to get all the questions in my head answered.

Thanks anyway people. If anyone’s reading through and has another suggestion I’d be happy to hear.

Re: How to keep bass mono?

In the Eurorack world I'd just get a Worng LRMSMSLR, patch your source into L and R In, patch S Out into a high-pass filter, patch that filter's output into S In, and L&R Outs would be what you want. I guess the general idea (go into mid/side representation, high-pass filter the side component, go ...

Re: How to keep bass mono?

Do you have multiple outs on your drum generator? If so just run the stereo out for all your hats, Snares other perc etc... and then run the kick on an individual out. Sampling is an idea as well! Or just be a muff and build a dedicated drum skiff!!! :) Hi, Thanks for the input but not sure it will...
