Re: Interview blog re: your finished Eurorack instrument

To be honest, and I never thought I'd say this, my rack(s) is/are nearly finished. I have one more major purchase I want to make (Schlappi 100 Grit) and a couple of holes to fill with Doepfer multiples; but effectively that's it. I'm not feeling GASsy anymore.

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT

UPS continue to be absolutely useless. I have a work-related package coming. At 7am it was, apparently, in New Delhi. Then, at 11am, that changed to out for delivery between 8:30am and 12:15pm. It's now 13:42pm. The package is now both in New Delhi and out for delivery to me (I don't live in New Del...

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT

I ordered a second hand CD from a chap in Sweden via Discogs. One month later it hasn't arrived. I contacted him, and he says he's hearing from UK customers that this is, unfortunately, normal now.

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT

What is annoying for me is that what I'm waiting for is a small, but crucial, part of something I'm building for somebody else. I am under pressure to deliver at the end of next week, but without this little piece I am stalled.

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT

ups have lost the plot a bit, I asked where I should send a bill for loss of earnings this week after about 3 days of trying to glean info, then the package that'd been "delayed due to a brexit disruption" for weeks magically appeared the next day Where I should send a bill for loss of earnings!! Re: Distortion Modules - 100 Grit or Miasma?

being a user and fan of Angle Grinder and Interstellar Radio I am probably going to get a 100 Grit. I have a space that I was keeping for something else, but I've gone off that and think I would prefer this. Pity that Matttech doesn't appear to stock Schlappi any more.

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT

I currently have a package out with UPS (not through choice). Although the tracking says it's in my home city as of last night the expected delivery day is Tuesday. I'm prepared to bet real money that it comes Monday. Luckily I'm working from home at the moment.

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT

UPS are useless. Last week I had an email from them to tell me that the package I was waiting for would be delivered the following day. So I went out to get some other stuff that I'd ordered for collection, was back home within the hour, only to find a "sorry we missed you" card from UPS. Cue trek a...

Not so sure how Klausian -

Heldon and Richard Pinhas used: EMS, ARP, MOOG, etc. and electric guitars.

Just a couple of years after KS started... and from France.
Not remotely Klausian. Good, but not Klaus

Re: Behringer - Introducing the CAT Synthesizer

I own a rev.1 CAT with the discrete filter, and the osc sync is impressive. It’s quite a raw, powerful, versatile, and electric-sounding synth (much like my other favourite, the Korg 770). I think the Behringer is based-on the SRM II version with SSM filter, and according to this video the Behringe...

Re: Your 3 least popular eurorack modules?

Mine are the Dwarfcraft Great Destroyer distortion module, the Malekko Heavy Industry AD/LFO, and the WORNG Electronics Vector Space. I don't know if that means that my least popular modules are still pretty popular, but dang I would have a totally different rack without the VS, it's an essential m...

Re: Mutable Instruments Only System - Possible ?

I have a few MI modules (Elements, Clouds, Kinks, Grids x 2, Marbles, Stages, Ears, Plaits v2, Ripples v2 and Yarns in order of purchase), but they don't all sit next to each other. I do have a case with Elements, Stages, Marbles, Kinks and Ears in it, but it's got stuff by other manufacturers that...

Re: Music from only random cv

It depends on what I'm trying to achieve. For example I did a piece last year called "Heat Death of the Universe (part n)" where all of the pitched sounds were derived from S&H generators. Other times I go for straightforward, programmed, sequencing. Sometimes something between the two (I have a Qu-...

Very good point. Maybe add the Behringer version of the Roland 172. But give it an external LFO as the internal one has the same issues as those found in the original - loss of bandwidth as the speed increases

Re: What Eurorack modules are good for Space Rock?

Noise source. Self-resonating filter. Couple of LFOs. Some form of echo.

Then, for the keyboard accompaniment, a MiniMoog type synth, and, maybe, some Mellotron samples.

Re: Doepfer-only systems

Like many people my first system was Doepfer only. And, for a while, it remained that way. Until somebody I used to work with showed me a video of the Mutable Instruments Elements.

Still got more Doepfer modules than those of any other manufacturer, though. And quite a lot of MI.

The only two modules that I've bought and didn't get on with (Qu-Bit Rhythm and Cyclonix Shapeshifter) got sold. But for some reason I've kept four Doepfer modules that don't work. Figure that out?

I used to use A-190-4 feeding Pam's, but the A-190-4 started playing up and Doepfer failed to give me any support, so now I used Yarns instead.

Hi Cary. Thanks for replying, and apologies for the mistake about your setup. What is really weird is that your photo is actually the gig that I worked on, and I'm in it! It was my friend/bandmate Cherie's first solo gig as a sound engineer, and I went along to give her a hand and some moral suppor...

Good: Qu-Bit. I was having some issues with my Rhythm, I shipped it to the US from the UK at my expense, expecting to have to pay for its return; but they paid the shipping back to me once they'd tested it and updated the firmware. I ended up selling it, as it became surplus to requirements, but hav...

Re: How to get that Nik Turner synth sound?

Nik is a fan of the wobbly, whooshy stuff. So a self-resonating filter, couple of LFOs (maybe fed through a joystick), a white noise source with a second filter, a mixer, some form of delay (maybe a BBD for authenticity).

I suspect you could find everything you need from Doepfer.
