Re: Behringer Swing

You love the false equivalencies, don’t you? It's perfectly equivalent. Bach and Simon both heard a great tune and copied it. They didn't "quote" it, they just took it and used it for their own purposes. In Paul Simon's case he was probably remembering how he got his fingers burned (allegedly at th...

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.

In the early days of CD, most CD's were pretty challenging to listen to - overbright, harsh. It is no wonder (quite apart from the marketing benefits) that there are so many remastered CDs now. There is a reason for this. In the days of vinyl mastering houses applied the RIAA EQ curve to the master...

Re: Cool Standalone Boxes - Like Benjolin or ?

Cool! I have had one since 2014. Had to replace the CD, as it had a chunk missing from it; and the half ping pong ball went missing at a gig, so needs replacing. I think I've used it on every Hyberus album to date (four released, plus two compilations, fifth nearly complete) and on my four most rece...

Re: Introducing Maestro - 6 channel clocked modulation controller from Acid Rain Technology

I recently decided that next time I could afford to squander some of my hard-earned cash on my pulsating, ever-growing, modular system then I would squander it on some more modulation. Then this comes along.

Time to break the piggy bank (and hope I don't starve next year)

Re: Favorite Krautrock-er solo albums?

I've met Harald Grosskopf (many years ago). One thing he certainly isn't is a bighead, but his contact book must be enormous, as he's played with or produced everybody.

Re: Favorite Krautrock-er solo albums?

As an Englishman with an internationalist outlook (guess what I didn't vote for?) I have decided to spend the evening listening to non-British music on vinyl, while drinking Chilean wine and eating pizza. After the aforementioned RastaKrautPasta I am considering: Clic by Franco Battiato Ma, Dolce Vi...

Re: Favorite Krautrock-er solo albums?

If we're allowed duets then Moebius & Plank's "RastaKrautPasta" should be heard. Never heard of that album but surely a top ten name. Absolutely. Cracking album, too. I realised that I hadn't played it in ages, so it's on now. The only downside being that it's a typical 1980s Sky Records pressing, ...

... but I suspect that he's gone over to the dark side of VSTs . . . I believe this to be the case. Although I think The Ship is one of the best things he's ever done I generally prefer him when "real" instruments are being played. Small Craft on a Milk Sea and High Life with Karl Hyde are stand-ou...

Re: Favorite Krautrock-er solo albums?

I would endorse most of what has been mentioned above. I would suggest that Edgar Froese's best solo album was "Pinnacles", though. If we're allowed duets then Moebius & Plank's "RastaKrautPasta" should be heard. If we're allowed duets that are very recent check out Neuland, which is Peter Baumann a...

Re: Qu-Bit Bloom

The Bloom is worth having, if you're after what it does. It just takes a little work, and maybe some additional modules.

Having said that a Bloom II with all the bells and whistles would be excellent. I volunteer myself as a Beta tester.

Re: Behringer System 100 140 Dual Envelope/LFO

I have the 131 dual VCF. It's pretty good: three mixable inputs (so you don't need a separate mixer to feed it multiple sources), three attenuatable modulation inputs. A good sounding LPF with fader control of frequency and resonance; and the possibility of switching in three fixed levels of HPF. I'...

Re: Behringer Mono/Poly!

I played one a couple of times back in the 1980s, as a mate had one that I borrowed for gigging. It was great as a unisoned mono synth, but very much lacking as a polysynth. I would have been interested in this if it had been as desktop unit like the Model D, but I don't need another keyboard that w...

When I was young, and had little money, buying a new piece of kit usually meant selling something else to pay for it/justify it. More recently, as I was slightly better off, this was not necessarily the case. However, during the first UK lockdown in March/April when all my work got cancelled and I f...

Re: Qu-Bit Bloom

So . . . I got my 2hp Tune. Connected the Bloom to it. Connected it to a VCO (Doepfer A-110). Connected that to the L-1 tuner. Reset the Bloom and turned all controls to zero. Tuned the VCO. Then started to turn the 'bias' control on the Tune, and it did exactly what I wanted: transposed the sequen...
