Ok, so far my main concerns from reading are sample editing, file management, and MIDI thru/sync problems. By far my biggest concern is being able to truncate and edit a sample. People have said you can't truncate, and that there will be gaps at the beginning of the sample. But in this video , isn't...

What are your thoughts on the SP now with all the updates? Pros & cons? Was watching videos of it on YouTube and it seems like the perfect sampler for me. Does all the things I like about my Octatrack, but seems easier to use, and has pads and more outputs! If its like I expect it to be, it seems li...

Speaking of magical dust, the VP-9000 is amazing, and nothing really sounds like it. No software, no sampler, not even the V-Synth. Roland probably improved the V-Synths algorithm to sound cleaner, but what what makes the VP-9000 unique is how its time stretching can create warm, bit-crunched, artif...

The LM-3204s are great. Or if you don't need the stereo channels, the CR-1604 is a classic. They are usually cheaper and more plentiful.

If you are only using the MPC for sequencing, that is the one to cut. If you have a MD and add an Octatrack, you should just go in full bore for the Elektron paradigm. I've got an A4 and MD wedded together. They make a very powerful, very deep rig for writing entire songs with all the parts. (20 vo...

Reason/Ableton/FL Studio/Renoise Just got Reason, and still getting acclimated to its sequencer and sampling. Thinking I might keep on using Ableton for samples, and use Reason as an instrument rack. Never really mastered renoise, but been meaning to. I really liked some of the functions I saw while...

It's funny. I could not write songs on the MPC. Granted, I only had the wee little MPC 500. I could make really good patterns, but that's where it would stop. Same thing with Electribe EMX - really good individual patterns, nothing else. For me its the opposite. The MPC 1000 lends it self to making...

This, the Assiml8or, and Mutables stuff. Though at this point, I probably won't buy the first two as I've already bought stuff to fill those holes, but I can't wait to throw more money at Mutable.

I just use a little Korg battery powered tuner. Its size and portability make it super convenient, and I don't want to waste rack space on a dedicated tuner. I have some modules that have a "tuner" mode, but menu diving for it makes it a bother.

Roland Scooper chops up drum loops like a champ. Or if you have the Sampleslicer on drum duties, you can use the Scooper to trigger one shot samples with a VCA. Besides that, it has a bunch of very very useful utility modules built in that you can check out here: http://www.roland.co.uk/blog/inside-...

Don't think my settings were anything unreasonable, there are two switches beside the Tune knob: "M/Core" and "HQ" you are aware of those ? anybody else with CPU problems should check the settings of these switches ;) I'll have to check when I get back from vacation, but with an i7-8700k, I shouldn...

Just found my old copy of Reason 2.5 and was able to upgrade for like $130! Best $130 I've spent. Love the idea behind Reason, and don't know why its not more popular with the hardware crowd, especially with the new implementations like VST support. I've owned most of the major DAWs, and Reason is t...

I just built myself a new computer using the new i7-8700k, and running repro-5 on Renoise uses 100% CPU just switching presets! The Beta is almost unplayable with the audio dropouts. Kind of disappointing as I expected the new CPU to eat through my VSTs, but I guess unoptimized software can trip up...

Looks good to me! Off the top, I would probably add an EG and a trigger/CV sequencer. Also don't know if you have any outboard gear, but one thing that really opened my modular up was a MIDI to CV interface.
