Re: E520 Hyperion Effects Processor video: Quick Start Guide

Just got mine last night. Still need to really spend an in depth session with it but first impression is amazing. Another great one from Paul and team.

Re: Large components = fat sound?

This sort of nonsense takes me back to the early days of euro when the sausage finger brigade would spread such ignorance. Oh the threads on Serge psu! The lack of any electronics understanding comes up with total fantasy.

Re: Best Euro Distortion modules 2020

Schlappi gear in general
Malekko Megawave - plenty of tables to mess with and the input level/offset offer a wide range. simple squashed sounds to weird noise
Patch a compressor - env follower/comparator+env and vca with post gain will go a long way. Abuse accordingly

Depends. When the keyboard adds more interface control then a definite yes.

Re: Who prefers the workflow of modular drum setups?

I've historically been a drum machine fan but about a year ago went to a Jomox 999 and a doepfer 9u as my drum synth. Best move I've made in a while. Actually use the modular for drums more than the Jomox now. The ability to craft each sound in detail and have more interesting seq options has been w...

Re: Overstayer Modular Channel - Who has one?

i was looking for nearly the exact same type of thing a few months ago, but I also wanted mic preamps for recording. I would love to have a Modular Channel but can't really afford it. But I got extremely lucky and found an Overstayer Dual NT-01 and bought it. There weren't many of these made. It's ...

Given the use of more complex sources I’d think about erbverb, Mungo c1, freqshifter, comb filter, multi BP filters(3sisters/vibrazium),

-1 for the Octa. It just doesn't sound very good especially the FX

Euro FX can be since since you'll probably have more cv control over things but if you really want stereo across the board then rack or even pedals may be the better option

I am liking that EPS suggestion. Do it!! If you're already into the idea of working with an older machine and limited RAM it is worth it. I'm not trying to make full tracks with it, just a sound or two at a time so the process isn't a hassle. Check out the synthesized loop function [video]http://ww...

Pre-order without samples or a set list of algos is challenging but if I'm honest with myself everything Paul does is something I end up wanting/getting. Why fight it?

Just got an Ensoniq EPS (non 16plus version) for $275 with the 2x memory expander at a Music-go-round. Even pricier ones on Reverb stay at or below $400. Depending where you are I see them on craigslist often as well The early Ensoniqs are perfect for what you are asking for. EPS offers a ton of sam...
