Learning to patch a particular system

I'm looking to learn modular and got myself a Doepfer case and researched some modules that I want to buy https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1351608 I want something to jam to with my guitar and create ambient soundscapes and melodic sequences with. But I don't know how to go about learning to...

Re: What's missing?

Looks excellent and I know you’ve been through quite a few revisions. You’ve got sequencing, sources for sound, envelopes and other modulation, a filter and something a bit more exotic with the Morphagene. The Disting will take care of plenty of other functions you may want to experiment with. Easy...

What's missing?

I have decided to go another route while planning for my first system and have drawn inspiration from instagram's @__forms__ system on a few modules that he mentioned and I could spot in his rig. I was initially planning on sequencing with the DIgitakt but think I would like to keep everything self ...

Re: Reflashing Happy Nerding FX Aid

It's playing the wav file to it that I'm not sure what I'm going to do about with the tools I've got.

How did you get the sound to it? do I need to buy a pico input module or something

Reflashing Happy Nerding FX Aid

I'm totally new to eurorack and wanted to get a Happy Nerding FX Aid as my first module to run my Grandmother and Digitakt through it. So I've heard it has a Lofi Junky algorithm but it needs to be reflashed using the macOS editor. On their website it says this is done by holding both buttons for 10...

Re: Torn between the Moog Matriarch and Grandmother

Thanks guys! buzzing I got so many responses. I have decided to keep the Grandmother and stop hunting for gear. Gonna use the price difference to slowly build up my eurorack. Starting with a Happy Nerding FX Aid XL followed by Make Noise Maths and Pamela's New Workout. Really looking forward to the ...

Re: Building a system around the Digitakt and Moog Grandmother

Wait a sec... I remember you thenoureldin. I thought you had an Octatrack and had decided on your first set of modules with Piston Honda, Black Polivoks filter etc.. Guess you’re starting your vision from scratch. Yeah that was me. You've got a good memory. I sold my Octatrack and got a digitakt an...

Building a system around the Digitakt and Moog Grandmother

Hello party people I have a Digitakt and a Moog Grandmother and want to build a eurorack system on a currently empty Doepfer A100 9U 84HP case. What modules should I look at to try and emulate Boards of Canada. I've done some very basic research and found the main modules I should look at are Pam's ...

Torn between the Moog Matriarch and Grandmother

so I have a digitakt, a guitar and an empty Doepfer A-100 case I want to fill at some point. I just ordered the Moog Grandmother but now I'm not so sure as I've been liking vids on the Matriarch. Do I hold out for the Matriarch or do I just stick with the Grandmother and use the price difference to ...

Re: Do I really need a quad VCA to start?

A couple of things: 1. The Erica Black Quad VCA is only for audio (the newest version actually gives you 1 channel that will work with CV), so if you plan on using VCAs to control your modulators, avoid it. 2. If you go with the Happy Nerding, then in the future realize that you need more VCAs, you...

Do I really need a quad VCA to start?

I've planned a basic set up to occupy myself for a couple of months whilst I recoup financially. https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1336398 I've been getting suggestions to swap out the Hapoy Nerding 3x VCA for a quad VCA. is this something I need to begin with or should I keep my setup? Has a...

Rene vs Pam's New Workout

Hi guys I'm planning to sequence via MIDI with the Mutant Brain but its currently on back order and I don't know when I'm gonna get it. So I'm looking for an option to get things started only with modular and the Rene and Pam's were recommended to me. What are your thoughts. Here's my system https:/...

I think I've decided to get the best of both worlds and buy the STMIX and the cheap ALM headphone output module.

Then I'll know for sure.

Re: STMIX vs Make Noise Rosie

As for the ST Mix, and many stereo modules, putting a mono in the left only will send the signal to the right simultaneously until you patch a signal to the right. While many setups consist of mono voices, there are more and more modules being made that cater to stereo. These are mostly in fx and n...

STMIX vs Make Noise Rosie

I'm building my first system and I'm honestly struggling with the question of how am I going to get my sound out of the system. I understand that the sound on modular is high voltage and would blow out my headphones so I know I can't plug my headphones directly into a module. I have a Zoom H4n and a...

Re: Does this case need shielding? and how to do it?

Well a lot of us would feel confident replacing an electrical outlet in our homes, but when asked how to on a forum, it’s red flags for liability. It’s not actually hard or expensive, you just need some fear around mains voltage. Another pointless analogy: lots of people can change the oil in their...

Re: Does this case need shielding? and how to do it?

Electrical safety is pretty involved; it would not be appropriate for a forum post to try to teach something life-or-death. You could misinterpret or we could misspeak. The only safe answer is to hire a qualified electrician. But since we're here anyway, you should know it's about the ability to to...

Does this case need shielding? and how to do it?

https://i.imgur.com/uqzspd5_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium I just purchased this DIY case from a guy on ebay. I posted a picture of it on reddit and a kind gentleman told me I needed shielding on the cables coming off the mains input. Is this the case? How do I do this and what mat...
