Re: please critique my dream rack
The obvious answer to the “too big, go slower” is to buy one half, and if you confirm that the modules are what you want, and that you’re going to manage a set by a/b flipping, then buy the second half. Meantime, if the plan changed after the first batch, you can alter it for the second. FWIW, I pla...

Re: Doepfer psu crapping out?
Well, bear in mind, I’m not expert on this. It happened last year and I haven’t thought about it much since... but work it back from the buss boards. They connect to the psu via, IIRC, spade connectors. The PSU connects to your power outlet via the switch, which, of course, breaks the connection wh...

Re: Doepfer psu crapping out?
And replacing the switch requires soldering? I figured it was separate. If not, it would either require soldering or a replacement of the whole psu (minus the bus boards), correct? Assuming that is how it is, and is indeed the problem, I imagine replacing a switch with labor would cost me the same ...

Re: Doepfer psu crapping out?
Guess you have tried powering on with only one module in? Sorry to hear of your problems. I'm sure Doepfer will advise well. I tried with no modules and I still get that crackling and popping sound until I switch it back off. Just to add, given the issue is there with modules out, and your descript...

Re: Doepfer psu crapping out?
I’ve had this. Likely ( not certain) that your power switch is burning/ burned out. I got mine replaced by an authorised Doepfer tech, but it’s DIYable if your are competent. Worth a mention, in layman’s terms IIRC.... the switch comes wired on one “side”. My tech wired both “sides”available on the ...

You might look at the Ladik m160, which can be configured a few ways that might be helpful.

Re: Doepfer A-124 (the Wasp): Adding overtones when fully opened (?)
I’m no wasp expert, nor do I own one at all... But it’s considered a “ dirty “ filter, I believe constructed using a slightly unorthodox design. Indeed, this is kinda the point of the module, and desired behaviour for most users. I suspect what you’re seeing is the normal, non audiophile performance...

A buff mult appeared in the post for me in time for Xmas. It’s not in the rack yet, but just to say, the build quality looks and feels awesome straight out of the box. Nice job. I’ll be back for more bits n bobs in the new year for sure.

Re: Decoupled gates from notes in sequencer?
I’m no expert at this level, but I’d assume that the key difference between how sequencers expect and deal with clocks comes down to digital v analogue, and whether clock division/ multiplication are parts of the design. I mentioned transient and Ladik sequencers earlier. They both advance one step ...

Re: Decoupled gates from notes in sequencer?
Transient modules 8s or a Ladik s180/182 combo ( cv sequencers, the Ladik also has a trigger out) will do this fine ( I have both) Euclidean circles will give you plenty of options for triggers and clocks Some sample and holds and a buffered mult will take you beyond decoupling into detripling on mu...

Re: Let's talk about quad-modules (edit: quadules?)
I think one of the things about quad modules is that they support polyphony quite well. If you are building chords and keeping everything separate, you want 4 paths so you can extend chords with 7/9 WHY. That said, I have a quad vco (e370) that I mostly play kinda sorta paraphonically ( 2x2 voices i...

Re: ACL Sinfonion
I have now had the sinfonion for 6 months.Being rather a beginner in the modular world, a bit overwhelmed by my purchases, it has been a great companion. I'm now getting much less dissonant results. But today, after having studied the manual, I can only get random structures. I find it difficult to...

Re: I am overwhelmed by my modules and need some help
On Rings and Clouds, I'd suggest you don't change modes too often, and explore each mode thoroughly before moving on. This maybe applies to Rings hidden modes more than the regular ones, as the regular ones all work much the same.
I found this technique very useful when I first got plaits.

If you have a fixed voltage module, run it into your audio, and send some cv, with the output controlling whatever. You could probably fake it with a square wave and a rectifier too (?)

It’s great to see a new UK based manufacturer. These look really nice, and even though I’m not a fan of odd numbered hp widths, and I’m not really in a buying phase right now, I’ll be in for a couple of utilities to try to show support for a new “ local to me” company. All the best with it!

Re: Can someone please spare some advice for a noob?
Plenty of quantisers out there, Doepfer and Ladik at the basic end, stuff like addac and intellijel for more advanced features. There are a few vcas that will add gain, eg veils by MI, or dedicated input modules, such as Ladik again Otherwise, I think mother has you covered for filtering, mixing and...

Re: how do *you* sequence your acid bass lines
+1 stepper. Seems to have been quiet over at TSL for a while though, which is a pity. They were planning a drum version that no doubt they would have nailed. TBH, I get fun and effective acid out of anything that stepper is sequencing more or less, but genuine sound a like 303 probably needs specifi...

Unless you actively want to go down the DIY route, the doepfer 138i interrupting mixer does what you want, and more, in 6hp for less than 100 Euro IIRC.
