Re: My doepfer PSU3 makes electrical noise when powering on(audio preview)

Hi, so 2 days ago my doepfer case made a scary noise when turning it on at it`s happening everytime now. Length for how long it goes on varies but i dont feel comfortable turning it on anymore. Heres what it sounds like: https://vocaroo.com/gQBQHDdUxE9 Does anyone know whats wrong and how i can fix...

Re: Eurorack Beginner

Maybe consider bailing on the Mordax Data for something that can generate gates or triggers, a 4 or 5 step sequencer to drive a second VCO. Data looks like an awesome module, and one i'd love to have in the future, but its an HP hog for something that introduces very little added functionality in t...

Re: Need Help With My First Eurorack

There are some grids like functions in marbles, but it’s not a direct replacement, and especially not for drums, IMO. Picos and grids is a really good easy mode drum set up, and I don’t mean that in a negative sense at all, just exactly what it says, it’s easy and effective. Marbles and Rings are a...

Re: Doepfer PMS12 case - one extra HP???

I butt the rails together and slide them left to leave 1 hp to the right as an air gap.

I think it’s about tolerances. Imagine the shitstorm if some came out the factory unable to fit 84 hp rails x2

I guess you could centre, but it seems a bit more fiddly.....

Re: Osc module fm

Big and spendy, but I think an E370 could do this with no other module involved, using the internal mixer, cv input mappings and self patching.

Something I haven’t got around to playing with for too long ( mine is stuck playing 4 note chords which is 🔥)

If all you want to do is get a variable gate length, Ladik Gatsby will do this for 2 channels, under knob and/or CV control. I’m not sure what it’s max length is, but certainly it’s in the seconds range. Generically, it’s a trigger to gate module. I think Doepfer do one as well, and no doubt some ot...

Don’t forget that you could fill the gap with passives, and not have any power worries. Doepfer switch mult or maybe a passive lpg would be my thought there.

+1 plaits btw, or twin waves. Can’t go wrong with either I think.

Re: Small sequencers / voltage sources

I have a metric shit load of Ladik. 3 seqs, 2 knob cv expanders, a fader cv expander and an 8 gate out expander. Highly recommend. The 180 master unit can jump to any step from front panel buttons. Pair that with a cv module, fader or knob, and you have 8 selectable voltages. There’s some option sel...

Re: Harmonic Series

I think that the phase thing is something that I am struggling with. I mean, how on earth do I achieve that. By "in phase" I am assuming that means, quite literally, that each sine wave must coincide exactly, and that their zero crossing points all match up where they should. I thing that this imag...

Re: Harmonic Series

TBH, I find the basic concept of additive pretty easy to get my head around. I think the reason it’s implemented less in musical instruments is that ergonomically it’s a pain, and requires a lot of hardware, in analogue. Would you rather select a sawtooth in a straight up analogue osc, and filter it...

Aphex Compellor is very nice.

No love for Drawmer? I have a 221 that I love, great for tracking guitars with a bit more sustain, and even the cheapo MX30 is ok. I’ve had a go on the 1968 too, and it’s lush.

Re: some toughts on WALDORF Eurorack?

I’ve had and sold the MOD1. It’s not a bad module, IMO, but just a bit big for what it does. I’d agree that build and panel component quality don’t feel exceptional, but then again, not bad per se.

I’d go for the osc but already have too many, and not enough space....

No. Order direct from his site. He closes now and then for a few days, but leaves a note on the page and disables carts IIRC.

One can always cut a hole and add one or two ventilation plates in the case, I do not see the problem. Also my case is DIY and has some small 1 or 2 mm gaps between rails and case. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/ZT1xFHHes3o3F5k6fFXkTei-AUA5gVk2FLKbzXLcrJtSQ4GFh1W0EF2t-e8hvIhBzGaMRsyeByUI7Y...

Rhythm: dividers, MI branches to split a pattern to two sounds ( like rim, cowbell). Ladik Gatsby to make gate patterns for BIA. Melody and chords: the trigger inputs on Sinfonion, in turn being fed pitch Cv from a westlicht in turn being clocked by EC. The Sinfonion trigger ins are multed to my voi...

Re: Is leaving a 1HP gap between modules a bad idea?

I have doepfer monsters. They are just a shade wider than 168. In most of my rows, there about a 1 hp gap at the end, and that’s no bad thing for ventilation IMO. I do have a couple of 1 and 2 hp blanks dotted about for finger and cable room, and that’s helpful for me. Depends on your modules of cou...

Re: Multiple Plaits system?

On one hand it is very versatile, providing with dozens of different modes, but on the other each of them seems to me rather limited in scope and modulation options. I don’t know if I agree. Every single parameter is under CV control including selection of mode. The CV inputs respond from LFO all t...

MI grids has a Euclidean mode, and you can cv the fill parameter. Unfortunately no rotate though, but I use it and EC both for Euclidean stuff. There’s minimal set up required to put it in that mode, and the clock rate of choice, and it’ll remember those settings, so once and done.... Grids is a bi...
