Re: 4 or 8 Channel Mixer with Switches

Unless you actively want to go down the DIY route, the doepfer 138i interrupting mixer does what you want, and more, in 6hp for less than 100 Euro IIRC.

I have one ... can recommend.

Re: Your stupidest recent patching mistake

There is a scurrilous, possibly apocryphal story of a producer - a multi platinum, multi artist producer of the very highest level possible - carefully tweaking some EQs on an SSL, before professing himself finally satisfied, all while a previously printed stereo mix was running back through the mon...

For the few Doepfer modules with a horizontally mounted header, -12v is marked jp1 on every Doepfer module I own ( either horizontally or vertically oriented)

+1 on min max. MI kinks works well for this.

Mixing via a mutes module so you can knock in / out various parts of the sum works nice for me too.

Sounds like a job for the dreaded no pass filter. 1 input jack attached to a plate, nothing else. It’s passive I tells ya!

Re: Affordable CV Sequencers?

I have a ton of ladiks, and IMO for a small analogue sequencer on the cheap it’s nigh unbeatable. I have a transient 8s too, and it’s great, but the mini trimmers are fiddly, and there’s no gate per step, which you gain with a small and laughably cheap Ladik expander, the S-181. I have three of the ...

Yes, you can select the steps freely. It will still run clocked, but all 8 gate steps are on, and can’t be toggled.

Access this mode with button 3 pressed at power on. Make it persist through power cycles with buttons 3 and 4 held together.

Re: Four Month Deep Dive - From Total Newb to 446hp

Nice. I went from zero to 1,000 hp in just under three years, so a similar-ish trajectory, and also now slowing down, consolidating, considering what can go because it’s not really sticking ( and also having a long, hard think about cases and power, but that’s another story....) One thing. Module ch...

Re: Doepfer PSU3 power switch bypass?

Have you looked at the fuse? It is in a little drawer next to the power plug inlet. You pry it open with a screw driver. If you got it used, who knows what shenanigans the previous owner may have been up to when they didn't have the right value to replace it with. Yep, first thing I checked... it w...

Re: Doepfer PSU3 power switch bypass?

While not disagreeing with anything Graham has said. I'd crimp the black wires to a faston and plug it into the bottom right switch tab in your photo. Then make a single faston 'jumper' to try and use the other pole of the existing switch. Soldering to the fuse or top left switch tab, and plugging ...

Re: Doepfer PSU3 power switch bypass?

I missed what was the problem, did the switch fail? I've got two of the Doepfer PSU3 and haven't had reason to look into the mains outlet section at all. There is a scarily aggressive sizzling/ frying sound at the point of power on, which persists whilst power is on if there is any load at all. Ie,...

Re: Doepfer PSU3 power switch bypass?

Thank you for your reply Graham, and pointing out the flaw in my plan, which, of course, is obvious in hindsight. I’m in the UK, and can probably get a part number from Doepfer, or otherwise match the inlet. Bearing in mind I’m a naïf, when you say “ crimped shrouded insulated terminals” I think I k...

Doepfer PSU3 power switch bypass?

Hello all.. First post in DIY. So, I have a problem with a Doepfer case. Having done some digging and talking to folks, including Dieter, it seems likely that there is arcing in the switch. I’m wondering about bypassing it, but I’m not a DIYer and wouldn’t usually consider working on power TBH. I’ve...

Re: My doepfer PSU3 makes electrical noise when powering on(audio preview)

Quick update from me... I reached out to Dieter and he got back to me. Arcing in the power switch seems the likely cause. Bypassing the switch, or replacing it, are the two suggested remedies.

Re: Update from Mutable Instruments on a DivKid youtube comment? 3 more releases?

To add my uninformed speculation.... I followed the “clouds 2” situation quite closely when it seemed almost imminent, or at least that a timeline of weeks or months could be extrapolated. I know for sure that a lot of work had gone into it, and I *believe* that it was *relatively* close to being re...

Hi, so 2 days ago my doepfer case made a scary noise when turning it on at it`s happening everytime now. Length for how long it goes on varies but i dont feel comfortable turning it on anymore. Heres what it sounds like: https://vocaroo.com/gQBQHDdUxE9 Does anyone know whats wrong and how i can fix...

Re: Eurorack Beginner

Maybe consider bailing on the Mordax Data for something that can generate gates or triggers, a 4 or 5 step sequencer to drive a second VCO. Data looks like an awesome module, and one i'd love to have in the future, but its an HP hog for something that introduces very little added functionality in t...

Re: Need Help With My First Eurorack

There are some grids like functions in marbles, but it’s not a direct replacement, and especially not for drums, IMO. Picos and grids is a really good easy mode drum set up, and I don’t mean that in a negative sense at all, just exactly what it says, it’s easy and effective. Marbles and Rings are a...

Re: Doepfer PMS12 case - one extra HP???

I butt the rails together and slide them left to leave 1 hp to the right as an air gap.

I think it’s about tolerances. Imagine the shitstorm if some came out the factory unable to fit 84 hp rails x2

I guess you could centre, but it seems a bit more fiddly.....

Re: Osc module fm

Big and spendy, but I think an E370 could do this with no other module involved, using the internal mixer, cv input mappings and self patching.

Something I haven’t got around to playing with for too long ( mine is stuck playing 4 note chords which is 🔥)

Re: What module(s) equal what my SQ-1 is doing here...

If all you want to do is get a variable gate length, Ladik Gatsby will do this for 2 channels, under knob and/or CV control. I’m not sure what it’s max length is, but certainly it’s in the seconds range. Generically, it’s a trigger to gate module. I think Doepfer do one as well, and no doubt some ot...

Re: If you had to pick one OSC for a small system. Which one would that be?

Don’t forget that you could fill the gap with passives, and not have any power worries. Doepfer switch mult or maybe a passive lpg would be my thought there.

+1 plaits btw, or twin waves. Can’t go wrong with either I think.
