Re: Zip drives, USB sticks. Do you trust them?
Flash drives aren't really measured in MTBF but rather overall writes to the flash memory. Stick with reputable brands, SanDisk and Samsung are reliable. Never buy flash drives or SD cards not in original packaging though, they are notorious for being counterfeit (Amazon, Ebay, any online retailer r...

I haven't broken one of the pots you are talking about. I have broken one of Addac's regular pots though, they have plastic shafts, or they used to at least.

Re: Can Boosted VCA-Audio Fry Modules ?
I'm not an expert but gain staging and modular are pretty important. You can have pretty long chains of modules from different manufacturers and they don't all respond the same to input levels. I've messed up a few recordings this way and I've had to scratch my head a couple times to figure it out, ...

Re: Troubleshooting sucks, I am stupid, and I hate everything
It happens, I feel that way a lot. What helps me is to break down the problem into the smallest possible chunk, like a computer program. Break it down line by line and try to understand it, not even fix it, just try to understand it. This is your focused mode, focus on the problem till you have at l...

Distortion without dedicated distortion modules
Hello everyone. I am curious how you go about patching nice distortion effects without having dedicated modules? I haven't really sought out distortion in my music journey, usually the opposite in fact, so I haven't looked into it much. Sure I've saturated some sounds with CP3 style mixers and ran a...

Re: Thomann / the sssnake stackcable clones
Well that's unfortunate, they are a shitty company trying to squeeze out a small DIY shop, Modular Addict over a bogus patent. They are trolls and nothing more. "The Stackcables together with the ‘HEK’ and other Tiptop products have paved the way for Eurorack to reach a level of success unimaginable...

Thank you seismic, I appreciate you and other open source contributors. I may get some PCBs made in the future but I think purchasing two from you should keep me covered for awhile and hopefully you make a little from the kits.

yes - you can always pickup noise in environments with multiple cheap wallwarts in the game, this of course especially includes cheap usb-power charges.. i have a 0.5mm tip as well and i can solder it, but let's say i have certain (20yrs+) experience. the type-C connector is small. this version got...

You can buy those Pi supplies anywhere, they come in both plugs. Here is the spec sheet I found for it:
I wonder what the Ripple/Noise would be like after going through the PSU2/IPS2.

Re: Mouser is great but i hate it !
I find that Mouser has 95% of the components I need for any given BOM, the rest have 6 month lead time, luckily Digikey always seems to have stock of the remaining 5%, at a slightly higher cost and much higher shipping for me.

.. . Thanks for the Panel/PCBs btw. I saw that you did a Miasma build before, can you recommend a place to get PCBs done in low quantity? What about panels? I haven't done that part of DIY stuff yet. JLC for both the panel and PCB. Get a 2mm panel, not the stock 1.6mm thick. I had a lot of problems...

Re: Anyone with less than 7u 104hp?
I'm trying to go through a downsizing stage myself. My goal is 6u 84hp with an external controller/sequencer/keys, but it should also function stand alone. I sold off ~100hp this year but I'm still around 600hp. Need to sell more, big systems distract me, I'm less focused/creative when there are too...

Re: DIY powersupply for eurorack or other things -> IPS2
This PSU is exactly what I'm looking for! I have been wanting to build a USB-C PSU for awhile. I've heard USB supplies can be pretty noisy, any issues with this one? It is a beautiful design. I have a Hakko with a 0.5mm conical tip (T18-B) and a 3.0mm slant for drag soldering (T18-C3). Do you think ...

Re: Fume extractor - Smoke absorbers?
Hi sduck, I use a FA-400 myself and have found it suitable for most euro sized soldering projects. It can be used vertically, flat, or with an adjustable arm. It absorbs most smoke if you position it correctly for the task. I paid roughly $55 dollars for mine.
