Re: 4ms Pods

Thanks kpreid (and others) for all of the real-world info... their own website currently indicates that 40hp is the smallest one with the extra depth, so maybe they just haven't gotten around to communicating this yet. I'll hold out until they give the 20hp that extra depth; I'm not sure why they'd ...

Re: 4ms Pods

OK, thanks for the reports. Re: the X designation, that's just it - none of the smaller-footprint versions have that extra depth (I think they start at 40hp), and many modules won't fit the shallow ones.

Re: 4ms Pods

What’s up with the manufacturing on these? I was interested in a smaller one for breaking some stuff out, but two things have kept me from pulling the trigger: 1. The smaller versions are all incredibly shallow; I don’t want a large one but the depth is really limiting. 2. I keep reading everywhere ...

Sounds like a plain old scratchy pot to me, but hard to tell without trying it myself.

Re: BLM (Blue Lantern) Steiner Diode Filter: just plain noisy or noisiest damn module in your rack?

To close the loop on this... BLM sent me a new version of this filter (the wider one with individual levels for each filter input) and it’s much less noisy. I don’t know why that is, but I’m very happy with the sound and design of the newer version. Also: fantastic customer service.

Re: The Elektron Model:Cycles Thread

Here's an idea BTW... use any iOS app (or any MIDI device) to send in LFOs / envelopes as needed. It has a good MIDI implementation.

Re: The Elektron Model:Cycles Thread

If you absolutely need long attacks and don't want to waste each channel's single LFO on them, then this isn't the machine for you. I'd say that's one of its few clear-cut weaknesses in terms of being an absolute chameleon. If they added a simple attack parameter (like the DT's "fade" param for the ...

Re: DivKid RND STEP

Exactly what Zymos said - no harm in turning the trimmers all the way up. I only contacted SSF because after doing so, it was still a bit meager. Good luck!

Re: DivKid RND STEP

Update: the replacement (or repair?) came back from Andrew at SSF working great out of the box. Didn't even look at the trimmers. Nice wide range for both bipolar and unipolar outputs, as expected. Really a great design.

Re: Mutable instruments edges

Giving serious thought to getting Edges... Tried reading as many threads as I could to see if this was already covered before asking, but didn't see it discussed anywhere. Can anyone tell me: 1) Does Edges remember sequences you've programmed into the sequencer at power down? If yes, great, but the...

Re: DivKid RND STEP

Thanks for the quick reply. I just checked with all trimmers maxed out, and now I get a (slightly improved) ~2.5V max range on the unipolar outputs and +-2.5V on the bipolar outputs. It seems like it's about half of what it should be. He's always great about responding so I'll check with him directl...

Re: DivKid RND STEP

I just got one of these, and I love it in theory. However, there are two things bothering me and I want to see if anyone else has the same experiences: 1. No matter whether I use a buffered or passive mult, it seems to “eat” triggets. Other modules mult’d with its trig input never receive the trig o...

Re: Klavis - CalTrans

Thanks for the quick response. So why would my CalTrans be outputting what is essentially an F note (a fourth above) at neutral settings when my oscillator is tuned to a C? Clearly I’m missing something. I’ve done the neutral calibration for each channel as the manual suggests. You’ve probably alre...

Re: Klavis - CalTrans

Can you please describe what the output of a neutrally calibrated / untransposed output should be with no voltage at the input? Around 40mV. It relates to the input whose lowest usable voltage is a bit above zero. Thanks for the quick response. So why would my CalTrans be outputting what is essenti...

Re: Klavis - CalTrans

Can someone please confirm what the base note output of their default, neutral-calibrated CalTrans output is with no input? In other words, with just the CV output connected to your oscillator and no transposition at all, with your oscillator tuned to C1, what note gets played? For me it's F1, and I...

Re: Doepfer A-155 "Stop" behavior

OK, I figured this out - it has to do with the pulsewidth of the provided clock. The A-155 will advance with a stop signal on the low side of the pulse, so if you have a normal square wave and do this in the second half of the step, it will advance. If you use a clock with a very narrow low side (99...

To echo some of these sentiments, I think the Mutes feels really good for performance in general. The only button I've found that feels as good is the Trogotronic push button, and it's certainly different (and not vactrol-y). I will say that the four switches on mine do not all feel the same as each...

Re: DIY 3.5mm TRS MIDI breakout for Expert Sleepers

Is it possible you did TRS B instead of TRS A (switched polarity or something like that, I believe)? I haven't done this yet but I bought some ribbon cable and TRS adapters to try to hack one up myself. One of these days I'll get to it.
