Re: Frap Tools USTA
Hi, I just received my usta, however the third encoder seems to not work. Rotating it doesn't change anything, the note doesn't change and the leds do not turn on either. If I push it, the color changes though. Did anyone had an issue like this? I had that exact same issue (on another encoder) with...

Re: Weird 1v/O calibration issue
Turn o_C output up to 3v, aiming for 800hz. It was at about 745hz, so adjusted the rear panel trim pot until it reached 400hz. I assume you meant 800 Hz here (400 Hz would certainly be wrong)? If so, that's your mistake. When you're calibrating for tracking, you're adjusting the scaling. If after j...

Re: Thomann / the sssnake stackcable clones
How are the connections when stacked? I've found the TT ones aren't great and will crackle if you knock them - I've noticed it especially when multing out a few clock signals. Yeah I had that happen with many of my TTA ones as well (not all of them, though). I tested it with a few of the Thomann ca...

Re: Thomann / the sssnake stackcable clones
My Ssssnake-cables arrived. First impression is good. About the same thickness as TTA Stackcables, but with a slightly more rubbery finish (reminds me very much of bugbrand bananacables if anyone is familiar). The plug/jack-combination is a lot taller than with stackcables, so they're probably not g...

Re: Thomann / the sssnake stackcable clones
will keep buying from the company that's perfected their product. Have they? I’m honestly asking. Because the stack cables that I’ve bought a few years back had all kinds of issues. First the debatable decision of going with the slightly larger plugs (not really an issue, but it makes it hard to pl...

Re: Thomann / the sssnake stackcable clones
I was not aware these existed. I've ordered some right away. Will report back once I have them. I have had lots of TTA stackcables so I can compare them (although mine are many years old, not sure if they've changed something about the design since then).

Re: O|D ER-301: Sound Computer (Temporarily Unavailable)
i've been off and on about picking up one of these, but current prices are definitely above what i'm willing to pay - especially with hardware that's coming up on 3.5 years old. not that it's any less capable, but certainly a revision is inevitable. I don’t think you’re going to have to worry about...

Re: ADDAC306 VC Transitions ALTERNATIVES?
Emblematic Catalyst is the only thing I can think of that lets you morph from one set of voltages to another with arbitrary transitions (depending on how you move the crossfader). If you just want to blend from a to b and are fine with a linear transition of a certain time length, you could also use...

Re: Frap Tools Brenso
Does anyone else get bleed between oscillators? With the attenuators/verters all zero'ed I hear the yellow out of the green and the green out of the yellow, particularly if the oscillator i'm not directly listening to has a very high pitch. Had my friend try it out and his bled as well, figure it's...

Re: Clank Chaos
So does this have anything to do with chaos at all or is this simply a multi-channel random generator? From what I can gather from the website, it seems like the latter. Might be a useful module nevertheless, but what a weird choice in nomenclature.

Re: Introducing Maestro - 6 channel clocked modulation controller from Acid Rain Technology
The new video is great. I didn't know that the "overall" channel speed is affecting a chain. Important feature to know :yay: That was the big takeaway from that video for me as well. I had assumed each element would have the fixed length of whatever was currently set when creating the chain. This i...

The comments about the display are concerning.... didn't read that until after i placed the order Don't worry about it, the display is fine. I can see how it might not be bright enough if you have it sitting right in the sun, but that's not that common of a situation for a studio. In a room that is...

Re: VERBOS ELECTRONICS COMPLEX OSCILLATOR vs Make Noise DPO
Had both and I strongly prefer the Waveshaping section of the Verbos over the DPO. That thing sounds gorgeous. Also, while the thing about older revisions may be somewhat relevant, I'd still always chose the newer revision Verbos CO over the DPO. But both can sound really nice. In the end, neither i...

Re: Introducing Maestro - 6 channel clocked modulation controller from Acid Rain Technology
... It definitely is the simpler and more playable control forge I hoped it would be. It’s no replacement of course, but in many situations I don’t need all the complexity and just want to program something quickly. Maestro is great for that. Thanks for confirming exactly what I was thinking in res...

Re: Introducing Maestro - 6 channel clocked modulation controller from Acid Rain Technology
I preordered one from Schneidersladen and received it on Friday. So far, I like it a lot. Timing is tight and the user interface is great. I like that there are multiple ways to configure the channels. Each one has its uses in different situations. I just wish there was some way to see how long the ...

Re: Eurorack to Processing
For some reason, it had never occurred to me to try CV through an audio interface. I'll give that a go now! That will only work with dc-coupled audio interfaces (of which there are very few as that is usually not a desirable quality for normal audio recording). One of the selling points of the ES-8...

Re: Eurorack to Processing
I'm not sure what you mean when you say "I like the idea of being able to read CV directly, though". The ES-8 is dc-coupled, so you can just plug in any signal (CV or audio) and read it out of the audio interfaces buffer in Processing. The only thing that may be more "direct" in the approach of the ...

Re: Module which unexpectedly blew you away?
It's probably going to be strange to encounter someone mentioning an utility module in this thread but I just want to tell about my experience with the 333 module by Frap Tools. What initially was a simple mixer and mult turned an incredibly flexible solution for all kinds of piping. I never though...

Re: Module which unexpectedly blew you away?
ER-301. I of course already had somewhat of an idea of what I was getting when I ordered it a few years ago, but I was more than just impressed when I got it. Both because of how much easier it was to use than I had imagined and because of how the interface inspired usages that I hadn't thought of i...

Re: Delay with milisecond option
ER-301 does all that extremely well, but may be considered overkill (I think it would be more like a good reason to get one if you were already interested for other reasons). For standalone delays, I think the DLD is still the best option. Goes well into low ms range and does the sync thing very well.

Re: Let's talk about quad-modules (edit: quadules?)
There's definitely a trend in Eurorack towards miniaturization: Considering a 2 hp wide module for anything but a mult or an expander that adds some cv inputs seems insane to me. But since there's a brand called 2hp that pretty much has anything in that format and seems to be doing really well (and ...

Re: Introducing Maestro - 6 channel clocked modulation controller from Acid Rain Technology
Love this! Very nice take on the arbitrary function generator idea thought from a simple interface first. I don't think this will replace the Control Forge in my setup completely, but will probably make it a whole lot easier to set up simpler patterns. Definitely buying one as soon as it becomes ava...
