Re: Module which unexpectedly blew you away?

When I first encountered the XAOC Drezno, I got the idea, that this was just another Bit-crusher.
When I later was introduced to the module, I was completely blown away. Being able to manipulate a digital signal in an analog flow is very exciting for me.
I now own two Drezno-systems.

Re: New Veils vs Tangle Quartet

If you want to use it as a mixer, I find TQ more flexible, as it has a dedicated mix-out. You can at any time chose to take one of the sources out of the mix, by taking it out of one of the indiviual outputs to add envelope etc. I find this solution superior to the daisy chain solution. A single TQ...

Re: New Veils vs Tangle Quartet

For me it is Tangle Quartet all the way (have two TQ and one v1 Veils that I don't use). If you want to use it as a mixer, I find TQ more flexible, as it has a dedicated mix-out. You can at any time chose to take one of the sources out of the mix, by taking it out of one of the indiviual outputs to ...

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

Does anyone know how the deja vu works to the left of half with external cv? It does not say in the manual. Some experimentation to me indicates that it essentially adds steps from the pattern captured in the buffer that are longer than the length setting on the deja vu. Does anyone know if it adds...

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

I've done a short amount of testing on VCV rack. It seems to me that in "green" mode (i have no idea what it's called), if rate is all the way to zero, it functions pretty much like branches if you patch your trigger into Clock and use t1 and t3 as outputs. At faster rates, one trigger gets you a s...

Re: Xaoc Jena, Drezno, Lipsk: Leibniz Binary Subsystem update!

....The curious thing is that even though I patch a slow saw tooth lfo into the ADC input on the Drezno, my time seems to come from clocking the input for gate 7 of the lipsk. The Leipzig system works in 8 bit. The Drezno maps the input range -10 V to + 10 V to the 8 Bit 256 values. That means the ...

Re: Xaoc Odessa, 1975 Variable Spectrum Harmonic Cluster VCO

For those that sometimes don't want the fundamental to be a part of the odd/even outputs, I have found another way: You need the Worng LRMSMSLR-module, that converts left/right to mid/side and then back again. (The maths is very simple, so I have instead built it in my OD ER-301). You connect odd an...

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

Somebody told me that Marbles has the capacity to do what Branches does (bernoulli distribution) — maybe a firmware thing? Can anybody confirm this? The online manual doesn't say anything (that I can find) about it. (Thanks.) It is in the manual as Mr_Sulcus shows. I just want to point out a small ...

Re: Xaoc Odessa, 1975 Variable Spectrum Harmonic Cluster VCO

I'm wondering how people incorporate Lipsk and Drezno with Odessa. I haven't looked into the Leibiinz system much, but, I am excited at the idea of expansions for odessa. If you use Lipsk with Odessa, can you connect that Lipsk to a Drezno as well, or would Lipsk connect either to Drezno or Odessa....

Re: Frap Tools Falistri

I'm really liking Falistri, it's one of the best function generators I've used. I do wish the shape controls were on full-size knobs, and easier to reach when patched. What is everyone using the flip-flops for? I get that they can be sub-octave outputs in the audio range, but other than that I have...

Re: Xaoc Jena, Drezno, Lipsk: Leibniz Binary Subsystem update!

Thanks for the explanation, I quite understand the Lipsk bit inversion and are the Drezno gate inputs a bit unclear at the moment. So you can't perform bit inversion with Drezno alone? You can not invert bits on the Drezno alone. The Drezno consist of two parts. In the left side section, you have a...

Re: Xaoc Jena, Drezno, Lipsk: Leibniz Binary Subsystem update!

I'm starting to get interested in this system, I am wrong assuming the Drezno bit inputs and Lipsk gate inputs perform the same operation? No. The Drezno bit input is simply mixed together and send to the Drezno output. If Drezno is in link-mode, the Drezno bit inputs overwrite the bits coming from...

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

Thanks for thr help. C# and b are there when all settings are 1-2 a clock. Tried other various settings and they always show up. Shoulnt there only be c minor notes at all settings? No. At 12 o'clock the values are random and not quantized to a scale. Turning clockwise from here you first get a chr...

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

I'm having a strange behavior with C minor scale which I'd prefer as a start to work around with. for sore reason notes such as c# and b are sequenced within the scale even though they are not supposed to be there. i even tried to record my "own" fresh c minor scale from vector with no problem exce...

Re: Xaoc Jena, Drezno, Lipsk: Leibniz Binary Subsystem update!

Thanks Shakespeare and Sellanraa! It was made some time ago, so I can´t remember all the details... The Drezno input, that Jena locks on, came from the Fallistri. The tempo (pitch) of the fallistri was controlled by a sequence, maybe from Marbles. There also was a slow sequence chosing different Jen...

Re: Xaoc Jena, Drezno, Lipsk: Leibniz Binary Subsystem update!

This track is just a test of Jena's possibillities as soundsource. It is the only soundsource. I run Jena in Walsh-mode and use both the combined output from Drezno as well as the individual digital outputs, that generates squarewaves with different timbres. By giving these different rythmic pattern...

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

Hey all, apologies if this has been answered already but I have a question about sampling external CV. Why not send the sound to a pitch tracker (Disting have this function, but there are others), and then take the pitch-output and send to any filter FM input? You then have more filters to choose from, and the Disting is always useful to have...

Re: Rings and Plaits in same mode are still different?

This is only guessing, but it might have something to do with the exciter-source. Rings use a lowpass filtered pulse or a burst of noise, Plait use the dust-algorithm (at least in continous mode). To make Rings sound continously, you have to use an external sound-source... Also note they use differe...

Re: why do you prefer modular hardware to software?

For me it is simply about live-patching!

In modular the line between edit- and live-mode is blurred, as are the difference between the control- and audio-stream compared to software as max/msp of PD.
This is really exciting IMHO.
