Re: Lighting the rack without ruining the vibe

The case I built a couple years back had a recess at the top in which I installed a LED tube lamp with a high and low setting. It provides indirect lighting down across my rows without washing out of the case or my eyes.

Re: Chord oscillator for pad purposes

I use a SE Quadnic for such things, 12hp, 4 1v/oct inputs, three modes of operation, basically a wave table type device. I thought about getting one but then I read that it doesn't rember settings after being turned off. That must be a hassle? Sorry, been out for a bit, had a nice August vacation a...

Re: Worng electronics vector space, how are you using yours?

I put a slow LFO into i and another different one into k, and an output of the Planar 2 (or Doepfer Wheels) into j which allows me to offset the entire program. As I like to make ambient/drones I use the outputs for pitch, cutoff, resonance, LFO rate, and whatever else I can plug into. My favorite i...

Re: How do you use your Eurorack?

Mine is a bucket list dream come true! I built it for me as something to do when I retire so I didn't go stir crazy. I enjoy it so much, and it is like therapy to me, I forget the troubles of the world whilst I wiggle away. I am very happy with what I have built, as well as my progress in learning h...

Re: Patching success rate - your comments

Time wasted doing something you enjoy isn't really wasted time, is it? In the beginning I'd hit dry spells, hours and hours spent trying to wrangle some semblance of order out of the chaos that was happening to no avail, but I was learning. There's been more than a few times that I had something des...

When you have 2 ears and can hear in both of them, then stereo really matters, otherwise not so much.

Re: Clock Divisions based on different rhythm beats (not 4/4)

Euclidean pattern sequencers are good for this. You select a number of beats for the pattern length and how many beats fire a trigger (and sometimes a "rotation" that determines where the 1 is, and it will space the triggers out as evenly as possible. If it's asymmetrical -- like 3 beats out of 8, ...

Re: Worng Vector Space vs NLC Let's Splosh

I often hook the Planar2 to the center input to use it as an offset, and sometimes send CV through it as well. Don't have a matrix mixer though.

Re: Worng Vector Space vs NLC Let's Splosh

I don't have a Splosh, so i cannot compare. I do however have a VS and use it in nearly every patch as a main modulation engine that runs many other facets of the patch. I generally use a couple LFOs to the left and right inputs, and then run my Planar 2 to the center input to use as an offset. Thi...

Re: Modules designed for the bottom row of your case?

My bottom row is in it's own 104 3u case, left to right it's A-147-2 wheels, Cells (the only inconvenient one) Tetrapad, Tete, Tetrapad, planar 2, and Scales all run by a uZeuss. I left a couple slots for convection cooling. All of them except Cells have patch points oriented at the top. I could pro...

Re: How bad is it to go a tad over the max mA?

I dunno, what's the cost of a new power supply for that case? Can you afford it? Can you afford to be without it while you wait for a replacement? Most manufacturers engineer some overhead beyond their specs, most but not all. In a pinch I might make an exception, but I certainly wouldn't get in the...

The Intellijel quad vca has a boost switch on each channel, I think it's 5db, but I don't remember for sure.

Re: Help Me Get Into Modular or Talk Me out of It

Modular is only a gimmick? Glad that Kieth Emerson didn't feel that way. No offence but I think such an answer comes from folks not able to think outside of the box that traditional music places people in. Yes modular is a pain in the ass to integrate in a traditional band setting, so why go with th...

Just thinking out loud here, but I don't think that calling a modular controller "Zero Control" would somehow be productive... just a thought... "No Control" probably falls in the same category for controller names.... unless perhaps its a random controller... then again I am old and have a rather a...

Looked into the Make Noise 3U cases, not super jazzed about the sliding nuts and 2.5mm screws, but at least it comes with the latter. $250 is also about what I can expect to spend on one of the ...

Re: Z8000 sequencer needs a pairing sequencer

I have both a Trigger Riot as well as a Circadian Rhythms to go with my Z8000. The TR pairs up with it nicely, I use the CR as more of a main controller, as each one of it's channels generally run another timing device such as a Pulsar, Plog, Time Runner, and Tete. I find myself using the Euclidean ...
