yoga blocks are so useful. i've definitely used them as equipment stands more than once.
now that i've figured out exactly where i want my monitors, i made custom stands out of 8020.net quick frame and some silicone feet from amazon.

Re: First eurorack system, need some eyeballs :)
first off, i think you'll be frustrated with those 2hp VCOs. my personal favorite of the 3340 oscillators in terms of interface usability while still being small and cheap is the electrosmith 3340. for your "big" VCO, there's a good recent thread on analog VCOs with lots of good suggestions here: ht...

Re: Gooey sticky fuzzy distortion
one of my favorites for both soft distortion and tone control is the river marble stereo tilt filter . the spectral tilt aspect is great on its own, but the saturation with the feedback cranked just sounds great, and you have good control over the character of the feedback based on the tilt knob. de...

is there a module that sums everything (stereo) below a cutoff frequency to mono?

The instructions are a bit unclear, but the secret has to be in here somewhere. "The ERD/ERD vampiric edition contains mixed earth from both Golgotha, Jerusalem and Whitby Abbey, England. Re: Logic modules especially AND-Gates.
i am also pretty disappointed by the selection of logic modules out there. they all seem like they could do more, be more useful, and pack more in, because it's not like a logic module needs a user interface. i've been working on some module ideas in VCV rack, and here's the logic module that i made...

I got Batumi but I also have Doepfer quad lfo which I use more often as straightforward option for modulation Tell me more! I mean, in this modern landscape of excellent and reasonably priced quad devices offered by Xaoc and Intellijel (e.g., Batumi, Zadar, Quadrax, Quad VCA), it's often easy for u...

Re: Best dual-VCO, or better to get two independent VCOs?
imho, VCO "thickness" is cork-sniffing bullshit, at least when it comes to basic waveforms. the differences between basic waves are small, and boil down to volume level, soft saturation, and glitches, all of which can easily be added later in the chain. for standalone VCOs, you should care way more ...

Re: How many modules outside your rack?
i have a few unracked extras. they're either too cheap to bother selling, or stuff i haven't decided about yet. i bought a happy ending kit at some point to be able to quickly test out new purchases and do comparison tests against the gear in the main rack. i like it because it lets me do those thin...

Re: Favorite module that no one knows?
I'd like to add one, that I've been using in almost every patch since I got it, the River Marble . seconded! the tilt function is really nice for shaping feedback patches, and when you crank the internal feedback, it's one of the best sounding saturation modules i've heard. the DIY version is also ...

Re: New intellijel wavefolder/crossfader: bifold
A square through a filter and then into a wavefolder can sound pretty rad though. yeah! anything that messes with phase (like a filter) interacts in fun ways with time-domain effects like wavefolding. i especially like allpass filters, because they produce a signal that sounds identical to the inpu...

Re: Help Me Get Into Modular: A Tiny Desktop Synth
you've been through a lot of iterations here. you could do this forever, or you could just start buying and selling stuff and seeing what happens, but honestly i would recommend getting on VCV rack just for a little while and messing with the "audible instruments" versions of plaits and stages. then...

Look into Wwise by audiokinetic, it's the industry standard. yeah, that was on my radar, because i see it on so many loading screens. i just took a quick scan through the docs and the licensing and it looks like it ticks all the boxes. synth.void , this page in the docs gives a high-level look at h...

Would be awesome to have guidelines/scripting language to package the material, to turn certain sounds on and off while keeping the timing and musical relations intact, smooth fade-ins and loops, and all that. agreed. i'm on the dev side, and i would love to be able to present this kind of framewor...

Re: SPICE vcf vs A-106-5 vs ?
the spice's "XMOD" trick seems to just be a dedicated attenuator for feeding the BP output back into the input. it's a fun trick, but you can do similar with any filter with a separate BP out.

Re: Tube distortion without the tubes
the m277 does sound great, but it draws 720mA on the +12V rail unless you use its external power supply.trogotronic makes a wonderful dual tube VCA that seems to not be too crazy powerwise! it sounds great also
i really like the L-1 Tube VCA 1Ж24Б and it only draws 12mA/25mA.

another vote for the drop HD6xx here, and another caution that yes, a decent amplifier makes a difference. personally, the headphones that made me finally sell my old HD580s were the focal elex (also sold by drop). better low-end response, similar character overall to the HD600/HD6xx, and even more ...

my two pics would be the WMD MSCL compressor and the river marble tone control. both have great sounding saturation in addition to being great end-of-chain utility functions (and both are stereo). tanh(3) sounds nice, and is adjustable, and useful for many things, but a little fiddly to dial in. tal...

Re: Am I not creative enough or do I miss some important modules?
yeah, having two VCOs opens up a much bigger world of possibilities for sound design on a single voice. you can use one to FM and/or sync the other, or use them both to FM each other, or just use one to FM itself, FM inputs other than pitch, you can detune them, stack 'em harmonically, whatever. (yo...
