Re: What's Your pick for a standalone, sub $300.00 usd, used or new, synth

I would recommend you a combination of a hands on semi-modular Analog Synth like the Behringer Crave or Korg MS20 (in all it's versions) and a Digital Synth for deep diving into Sound Design like the DX11 or Reface DX(nice and very useful effects onboard, external input for your 1st Synth). Imho thi...

Re: Ensoniq EPS 16 as sound module

Just scored an lovely EPS 16+ and boy oh boy the waveboy disks are expensive, esp with shipping to Germany. If anyone could link me to the images via DM would be very much appreciated! Planning on using it mostly as a audio effects manipulator with the time dicer on my drum machines and samples ::)

Re: prepared piano

Hey, might be worth taking a look at the UVI Falcon 2 and it's 'Augmented Piano' Add-on. While I didn't get it yet, I find the prepared piano options superb and for what I know untouched by other recreation's.

You'll find more examples on the UVI site

Re: interesting modern digital synths?

Yes and they don't sound as described above. Even though the reface shines at more sharp sounds, the DX11 has more body to it and sounds much rounder to me. It culminates in giving the sound a somewhat more mysterious vibe. Check gattobus on yt for excellent examples with his self-made patches.

Re: interesting modern digital synths?

I find finally bought the Stereoping controller for my trusty Yamaha DX 11 and it really rocks. I love this synth to death, there is sth about it I can't get with any other FM synth. Even when I transfer the patches one to one (patches without the unique waveforms ofc), the DX11 always comes out on ...

Ooo yeeah.. honestly best integration of a "VST in a box" in the best sense. Can't wait to get mine from Thomän. The filter modes alone let me dwell.

Re: MPC Live II availability/impressions?

I have the One and the CV stuff is real easy to setup and use, a killer feature is the abilty to setup a keygroup with auto multi sampling of your patch enabling a pseudo way to save it once set. Or just sample and chop for drums or loops in clip tracks etc. Build a full library of modular noodling...

Re: Gear suggestions: moving away from Elektron

The way you have to program things in the Cirklon to get interesting I feel like the Tracker approach with the Polyend seems to give faster results and seems more joyful for that. Ofc it's not a fully fledged midi//CV hub

Re: Gear suggestions: moving away from Elektron

I also feel the Cirklon was very unintuitive und not fun to mess about with. Very Menue-Divey. Yeah I did learn it and it felt like a math lesson in the first hours Monday morning. As for the praise for its aux mode, which on paper is interesting, something like an Ornament and Crime with Modulation...

Re: Polyend Tracker

That sounds tasty indeed! I was asking for the midi Cc's btw and am sure now that you can also output them to ext gear. Do you know if the tracker syncs via the usb-c port? I'll want to hook it up to the MPC one usb hub.

Re: Gear suggestions: moving away from Elektron

MPC One! CV, Midi/USB Hub for other gear, fantastic sound shaping abilities with its built in effects, nice playable synth VSTs inside, note and gate randomisation for getting things rolling. Loots of buttons making it so much more enjoyable than the MPC live that I sold before. The sample editor is...

Re: Polyend Tracker

To say it in another way; how would the Polyend Tracker compare to a MPC One for sequencing and modulating trough Midi CCs? I wonder how intuitive the MIDI workflow for the Tracker would be, like recording MIDI In and using this to sequence wether Samples within the Tracker or Outboard gear. Would I...

How easy is recording Midi INto the Tracker for sequencing ext gear? I'm in the process of ditching my whole studio to move to the island where the sun rises and just want to keep the tracker and a little additional modules.

May you enlighten us with some of those pattern commands? Never used Trackers but Ableton bores me sequencing wise since longer. The Mini is below 1000€. While definitely interesting, a ribbon controller cannot be compared to what the MPE in the Haken does.
