Re: How to set specific mod range?

Hey folks thanks for the detailed replies, this is a big help! Re attenuators, the phrase "you can't have too many VCAs" would include attenuators then right, since so much of the intent is to attenuate CV? Yes and no. The key is "Voltage Controlled". It's the one thing in modular you can't get any...

Re: The Disting Effect and new features for digital modules

Design-driven producers are a subject of "The user method" book by Jeff Schwarting — he argues that successful products come, more often than not, from from people who desperately want to satisfy their own needs and existing solutions just wont cut it, if they exist at all. He argues that quality o...

With your long membership and low post count it's hard to pitch a reply at the right level. A bit of background perhaps?

I'll add that if you're "only" using Pam's for division and multiplication you barely have to scratch the surface of the menu.

Re: How to set specific mod range?

If your modulation source is bipolar (+ve and -ve), set the destination knob in the middle, because the modulation will wiggle backwards and forwards. If your modulation is unipolar (+ve only), set the destination knob at the start, because the modulation will only wiggle upwards. There are no stand...

Re: The Disting Effect and new features for digital modules

A lot of nails hit on the head. I've been shying away from updates and alternate firmwares because of "diluting the core purpose". I want to patch, not memorise button combos and hidden modes. Fine if you want to go that way, but the sense of entitlement in some of the requests grates...

Re: How hard is it to sequence the Basimilus Itereritas Alter?

Pam's is very good with BIA. Lots of control over the spacing and amplitude of gates, and/or synced modulation if you like. Now you can even use it for a quantized pitch sequence.

Re: Clock Dividers. Essential Range and Divisors?

Is there any reason to get dividers or multipliers when you already own a complex clock like Tempi or Pamela's? These for quick results at a small footprint. Individual dividers and such encourage experimentation and happy accidents, but at the cost of hp. But as mvdirty points out, you don't have ...

Re: Today my small discovery was...

Cold Mac's usefulness is inversely proportional to the number of modules it shares a rack with. How comes? Whats the point of Cold Mac with just one more module? Within reason. :hihi: It didn't get a lot of use in my big rack. I moved it to my Mantis, where I used it now and again. It's now in my 8...

Anyone know how slow the MCO can go with a -ve voltage in the v/o input? I'm seriously considering it for my tinicase and it would be nice if dropped to LFO rates.

The default uZeus power brick utilizes what I believe is referred to as a "floating ground". If you upgrade to the beefier brick or similar the problem should go away (and you get a few more mA).

Re: “Ambient” filter

I think the Wasp is a good idea. A bit of texture can prevent your music sounding like a smoothie, but it can also be sweet when handled gently. Assuming a certain sound fits a certain genre is the low road to homogeneity. Experiment with sound and technique and your music will stand out from the cr...

Morality is as subjective as don't do to other as you wouldn't want done to you. If there's a possibility that our actions are immoral, we should entertain the possibility and do our homework or admit to ourselves that we're immoral people and not pretend otherwise. You got it wrong ... it's "do un...

I honestly I don't think you're ready for eurorack. What is your long term goal here? Do you need a VCA? What VCA? These are the most baseline questions. Wait a few years, read manuals, watch videos, think bigger, plan long-term, recoup your finances. I've been following eurorack very closely for 1...

I have decided the combination of rcd/expander and z8k is a match made in heaven for generative - hooking up so the rcd divisions clock the many rows and columns then feeding back one ove the outputs so it cv's the rcd rotate causes a wonderful evolution through complex patterns of changing divisio...
