Re: Looking for Suggestions

Customs are a drag here In California, can't imagine from the horror stories I've heard how it is there. Regarding Sloths: I've owned four and ended up trading with friends until I kept one. Not due to dislike as much as not using them. Truly, one for me is enough. As Foliephonics said, they offer a...

Re: Looking for Suggestions

Not getting notifications on this for some reason. Cool to see you settled on some NlC. The Hypster is fantastic, you will not regret it! If you join the Nonlinear circuits builders guild on facebook, there are a number of great builders in Europe that most likely have things stocked and should offe...

Re: Best place for encoder knobs.

I've been enjoying these lately.

If you want smaller profile these are also great.

Neither option feels cheap to me at all despite their price.

Re: Deckard’s Dream Build Troubleshoot!!

I'll offer some advice but first just wanted to say don't panic. Take a deep breath and a small break- like 20 minutes, maybe grab some herbal tea. Thats what I do at least. Everyone who has DIYed has had problems and they are never easier to sort while panicking. I'm assuming your partner has some ...

Re: Looking for Suggestions

I'd recommend any of the more chaotic signal modules from NLC. Spasm, Hypster, hyperchaos deluxe. They're great modulators, but at audio rates they are incredible signals to feed into the resonator input on atom or through clouds etc... For sonic exploration, I recently built a couple dispersion del...

Re: What's your most wanted "luxury" module?

Even though it isn't out yet, first choice if I had enough cash would be the LZX Chromagnon. Built some cadet kits a while back and enjoyed them, but this would provide a lot more options and allow for standalone operation. I've never seen one in person but the CS-8 Omega Phi-2 from Schippmann seems...

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

Yes, nice one! Slightly Nasty modules are really very cool, and as you say killer sound! Nice work! An additional thank you to you for creating the format, the cgs 85 panel is excellently crafted and the diagram provided really helped make the build painless. I showed it to a paperface friend that ...

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

Don't really post my DIY anywhere, but I'm proud of this project so thought I would share. Built about a month ago, but I didn't have time to really calibrate them fully with work scheduling. Finally got the time over the weekend and WOW! Huge thank you to Slightly Nasty for designing these modules....

Re: Issues with Mutable Braids clone

The link is permission only, I'd open it up to anyone who might want to take a look. As far as for reflowing, it is going to be somewhat challenging to do at this stage since the jacks are soldered in, but some no clean flux and good hand control should get you most of the way. If you are considerin...

Re: Issues with Mutable Braids clone

Yikes! I listened to the samples and that is definitely not normal behavior. As with most mutable problems I would try to reflow what you can get to minding the plastic housings of jacks and pots. Sometimes some craftily shaped tin foil can protect them from heat as well. The tuning issue most likel...

Re: Oxidized CMOS chips from Mouser

Just checked a recent order and the 4046s have e4 printed at the top.

From the page linked:
"e4 - Preplated (e.g., Ag, Au, NiPd, NiPdAu)"

Just plugged one into a giant bono and then a swamp to see if the oxidation changes behavior. It didn't at all, so maybe no need to remove the outer layer?

Re: Oxidized CMOS chips from Mouser

Same here. Every 4046 and most 4066 have had a decent layer. 2000 grit sand paper clears it up quick. No issues so far, but a bit annoying for sure.

Re: Erica Synths SWAMP - the Wogglebug-inspired DIY module

From the manual.

"WAVE switches select waveform on the TONE and SWAMP
audio outputs. The middle position of the switch give you
waveform that is crossfade between triangle and pulse"

Use the specified on-off-on if you want the crossfaded signal.

You could use this as a loose guide and add in mounting holes at your discretion. I used this as a template for a 3d printer and the holes matched up with vector rails perfectly.

yeah you're probably right... i do think that just like the original it will be more popular as it gets picked up and sold as an assembled module. Re: 9 months down the road... Ideas?

If you can spare the space I'd go for temps utile for both clocking and division duties. If you need more division I'd recommend NlC divide and conquer. I have them paired in a 6u 104 drum case and the patterns you can achieve with them are amazing. For VCAs if you're interested in veils but don't w...

Re: thonk order missing parts? tell us your story!

Never had an issue with Thonk, although in DIY sometimes things get messed up. Also never had anyone who did mess up at any storefront refuse to make the order whole. Sure maybe it pushes back a build a week or a month due to scheduling but whenever I feel the slightest bit of frustration I remind m...
