Re: Waldorf Pulse 2

I have the 1 and 2. I can't bring myself to let either of them go, even though I have other monos I use and enjoy more. I agree with an earlier comment that the 1 has more personality, but I feel the 2 is bolder when in a mix. The matrix style editing is very efficient once you learn it, but I prefe...

Re: Favorite FX units for drum machines?

If you're going the gtr pedal route then try using a mixer so you can do parallel processing (mixing dry feed with wet return - esp to avoid bass loss) Yes to this. If you want to remain in pedal land, ehx tri parallel mixer pedal has 3 loops for fx and a master dry level. I like layering bold bras...

Re: Live looping - gear, workflow

I tried this approach with the rc505 but it didn't work out for me. I'm now using multitrack midi sequencing and a digitakt for looping or sampling. To give it a go, the key thing is your mixer. You need the looper on an aux, plus other fx chains on other auxes, with returns on channels not aux retu...

Re: Cleaning smoky gear :(

Isopropyl alcohol and clean cotton rags (old socks etc) that don't pill, pull apart, or leave fibres. You'll need to do multiple passes. If it's really layered on, replace the rags with a clean microfiber cloth. Just trial the alcohol cleaner in an inconspicuous spot before going crazy with it. Work...

Re: Should I dismantle my set up

So, I should clear the desk and use tiny set ups that I piece together and rearrange at will, yeah? Anyone else try going that route? I've been doing this for the last 2 years due to young family and smaller house constraints. Its been good for me, I've broken out of my typical and predictable ways...

Re: rack mounting effect pedals

Stony - despite what the OP may have wanted to hear, I appreciate your comments and agree with your version of unfortunate pedal reality. In my studio repatch, I'm treating pedals like a library that I patch in manually and sparingly. I have plenty of reliable rack and desktop fx to patch in permane...

Re: Para / Poly synth to compliment Euro set up...OB6, Pro 3, P12 experience?

I have one too, and agree with the above. I find having contrasting gear helps me create fuller tracks and have more long term versatility in what I can create. A thick rich pad low in the mix of an aggressive track is my kind of thing at the moment. Matriarch - I shared your concerns about 'everyo...

Re: Para / Poly synth to compliment Euro set up...OB6, Pro 3, P12 experience?

The OB is absolutely a lush sound overall and does not really get harsh or experimental unless you're using loads of effects like ring mod and distortion etc.. So it is mostly going to give you deep pads and leads type stuff but this could be a perfect contrast to the other gear you use. I do enjoy...

Re: My sub died. Need help choosing new monitors/sub

What are the downfalls of using another brand of sub (like the Adam T10s) with monitors from a different brand. No downfall if replacement sub can be setup to the same crossover point as the one that 'matched' your Reveals. Subs usually have that as a knob on the back. Connecting the output from yo...

Re: No input mixing

What I have found thus far is that delay within the loop yields interesting stuff, and fuzz/reverb at the end is very gratifying. Tried using delay, good tip. Extreme eq prior to the delay helped. I also used a tremelo as an lfo which helped get more rhythmic loops. Pedals with single in, dual out,...

Re: No input mixing

Thanks to this thread, I just had my first attempt. Finding those rhythmic loops is great fun, like audio treasure hunting. I'll review my recording tomorrow to see if there's stuff worth sampling. Next I'd like to try using more fx pedals, through my bass / PA rig

Re: 1st guitar and a newbie signal flow question

DI - don't worry about cab simulation for now. With your pedal board and eq options it's negligible. Isn't cab simulation just preset EQ with maybe some delay and reverb anyway? :sstorm: Check your current pedals for a DI or Line out option You'll find clean DI guitar brutally revealing of playing t...

Re: 1st guitar and a newbie signal flow question

Get a guitar wall hangar and have it on that, not in case. Leave picks everywhere so you never are searching for one. Have the quickest, easiest way to start hearing your amplified instrument setup permanently. If that's an amp, raise it off the ground. Personally I love tiny battery powered amps fo...

Thanks for posting about this. I'm going through an ehx fanboy phase, with recent additions of the tri parallel mixer and flatiron. Re: Good stereo mastering recorder on SD or other portable format

Locally, zoom h4n hand helds are cheap second hand. They take XLR input, so I use one of those. As long as handling noise is avoided, by hitting record and putting it down where it won't get bumped, I never listen back to my jams later thinking about that part of the recording chain - it just works....

Hudson Broadcast pedal might be the sound your chasing.
The next step up from the boss ls2 is a ehx tri parallel mixer. I'm still testing mine out but can confirm for now it's inspired me to hook my gear up in new interesting ways.
Ps Rex your setup is rad

It's not that simple! Easier if you break the parts down J body, J neck, P pickup neck J pickup bridge is my preference. Which is why I've transitioned from Fender to another manufacturer For you, coming from a stingray clanger, a P bass would be most different and expand your instrument range best ...

Last night a DJ saved my life - Brewster A book documenting the history of electronic music genres would help me think of others, and other times, which I'd find healthy if inside. Re: Eno TC-13 Myomorpha vs RAT?

I just tested the ehx flatiron fuzz next to the EC myo, through a clean headphone amp. I could get them to both have very comparable sounds with tweaking (not 'set knobs the same', that's just dumb, I used my ears). I prefer the Flat, it's Drive range is more even and vast, much more low gain range ...

Re: Seeking demo of tri parallel mixer eq & phase

Had a few hours with mine, playing bass into a headphone practice amp set to clean. Phase- it's an option toggle not blend. As usual with phase, most of the time I toggle the switches and don't notice anything different EQ - to the left its like a lpf that rolls off the highs, to the right it's like...
