Re: Stuff you recorded in the past but now have no idea what's going on in them

Does that happen for you? I was browsing through my old tracks and this one left me scratching head :hmm: All the time. I love doing short single take mixed-in-the-rack stereo pair out "things", which are often a bit odd in their configuration. If I'm lucky, I whipped my phone out and took a pictur...

What I'd like to understand is - flat speakers are accused of being clinical and not pleasurable but the KH speakers are a pleasure to listen to, and no one questions their flat frequency response. So what's happening there? Do response curves tell everything that is important? I suspect the 'clini...

Re: Recommend some monitors?

Enjoy your Adams when they arrive. I suggest spending time moving furniture around to get ready for positioning them in your house. Plus make a playlist of songs you know well to play through the Adams when they arrive, so you can start to 'learn' how they sound. Aim to have their tweeters at your e...

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs

I feel that there are many other ergonomic factors to be considered, that are controlled by the user (such as desk height, body positioning, placement angle, session length, movement breaks etc), that impact on a users experience far more than the 'handedness' variable noted above.

Re: Multitracking and reverb?

One thing I learned when multitracking is to not put more then one instrument in an FX chain because when I edit the arrangement later on and take a track (at least partially) out it's obviously still in the FX chain track. Adding to this insight: if hardware fx chains are key to the way you create...

If I was starting out from scratch with a Buy Well Buy Once mentality, the Bugbrand is what I would have chosen too. It's on my gas list. Update this thread with your insights when you feel like you have mastered it.

Re: I'm addicted to Phasers.

This topic got me onto the classic ehx small stone phaser. As soon as it arrived, it got integrated into a multi fx chain for a basic polyphonic synth patch, with two delays and a chorus. Positioning in the fx chain made a big difference but I had the sound I needed within 2mins. I've already ordere...

Re: Yoga Blocks as Speaker stands

Another technique is to sandwich layer the yoga blocks with cement tiles if you need to go higher but maintain stability. I used limestone bricks from the hardware store that I wrapped in butchers paper so they didn't scratch my desktop or leave limestone dust on my table. My speakers came with cust...

Re: DOD 250 style pedal with a blend option - know of one?

Follow up: It's much easier to split your bass signal before it hits your guitar based fx, so you can retain low end. I ended up doing this then using a crossover in a biamp setup. Highs through the 250, lows remain clean.

You can bypass the EQ and get raw distortion, bypass the distortion and have just the EQ, reverse the order by running EQ before the clipping stages or inject another pedal "inside jeff". A splitter cable and a delay pedal might be fun :sb:

DOD 250 style pedal with a blend option - know of one?

I've decided that the DOD 250 is my preferred always on overdrive for playing bass. Do any of you know of any pedals based on this circuit that also have a blend option?

Re: smallish DJ mixers with built-in audio interface?

If you go for any of NIs audio interfaces or even their z2 (which would do what you want) , make sure you check compatability before buying. NI 'bricked' many older gear making it legacy because they stopped supporting it or updating drivers. Plenty of stuff on the used market that can't be used if ...

It's exactly what I had hoped it would be. To me it's an evolution of the Evolver. Gnarly industrial face punch.
That last statement just got me interested, cheers.

I love this thread. I've slowly been collecting hardware fx based on what's been discussed. Your latest input has inspired me to take my time in hooking my fx up so I focus on finding bold and interesting chains. My old pa graphic eqs will now get incorporated too. Cheers (helpful as usual BD!)

I think I can hear LFOs clocked to various measures of the track bpm modulating different percussion parts subtlety, and delay matched to the track bpm with the repeats blending in behind the percussion rhythm.
Great track.

James- try each Mega output through each of those pedals, connecting into a mixer. Don't try for similar settings on each pedal but really different ones, like a long delay on the nux but phaser on the m5. Then experiment with blend settings on the pedals, and pan and levels on your mixer. If you co...

I'm not game enough to risk using digital gear in my No Input setups as I'm concerned about levels damaging gear, and digital clipping isn't my fav type of distortion. I've been using any cheap clone pedals I've got, and an ibanez admini delay. A delay with a separate out for the effected signal wou...
