Re: rotary encoder replacement for Buchla 200e

I broke a stepped encoder on a 225e back in 2009. I could see a part number once removed - I would guess it's not the part you have, don't remember it as bright green. Anyway the part I had was RE11CT-V1N12-ZF7CS which I googled to Switchchannel.com . Had one sent and fixed it.

Re: Chord oscillator for pad purposes

There is a rare erthenvar patchord for sale. 4ms released the harmonic oscillator. 2020 good for chords. Say what? . rare patchcord? :hmm: rare=discontinued It's like a digital module conceptionally along the lines of the EML Polybox or RSF Blackbox from the 1970s. It tracks the existing osc going ...

Re: CR-78 in Euro

Not sure if you mean the sounds as separate modules or some sort of whole unit on a module given you mention tabletop. Analogue Solutions did the Bass and Snare like decades ago. Really depends too if you want the general idea of pre-808 Roland type sounds or those exact sounds. I always say some pe...

Re: Synton Fenix I and II

have both, II is maybe less than 200% but easily 150% feature-wise. Ergonomically the I is better, it's easier to find things, bananas are below the big knobs. II is packed full of great things, but until you memorize, jacks and knobs are hardly correlated, of course there are substantially more fea...

Re: Buchla 285 PCBs - too late?

When v1 sold out some years ago it was replaced with V2. V1 of course was much simpler due to being DSP based to some extent rather than a clone. I've not head to head compared but suspect it did not sound like the 200 series for better or worse. FWIW The Human Comparator did do a run of 10? or so p...

Re: Let's talk about the Doepfer vocoding system!

I bought the whole set back in the day and no thought of selling since I don't think the feature set is duplicated anywhere. Though you can do simple vocoding by other means. These days there are several takes on the Buchla 296 (Verbos Bark, Frap Tools) even though you sort of would like two of them...

Re: marion pro synth crashes with sysex

FWIW, historically the ProSynth was created after MSR2 sales ended, so I believe 2.0 OS is in every unit, no alternatives. Might be a red herring but a fair amount of old gear chokes with the speed most modern computer connected MIDI interfaces send at (as well as sliders that put out SYSEX), Has an...

Serge NTO is actually wave shaping through a bunch of standard shapes, not crossfading.

Probably not the cheapest solution to crossfade but the Verbos Pan & Scan will do 4 inputs via VC

Re: Alternatives to the Verbos Harmonic Oscillator

Quick answer is no one has copied it in analog (yet). He's doing something like the the only a couple exist Buchla 148 + the rare Buchla 107 with some unique CV performance control on multiple channels - so sooner or later someone may clone those too but his version takes up a lot less HP and has mo...

Re: EMS Synthi modules

To clear things up, the early 4 pole filter is supposed to yield 18db. This is not an error or super unusual afaik. It also has a slew on the incoming vc that Analogue Systems lets you switch in and out to simulate the early design. The later design is 5 poles, effectively 24db and no slew (AS lets ...

Sadly it aims to use a 900 series and two 700 series all at the same time

Have one, you get a lot for the price, not perfect feel or ergonomics but again the price. My guess is it doesn't fit in with the workflow of many who bought it, you can't just flip through presets until you find a sound you like

I'll add that quite frequently filter outputs have a phase change. It can be a marked feature like the Mankato or not. So it might be worth scoping against dry or even just patching what on paper might not be anything to hear what happens.
