Re: Multitracking and reverb?

Depends if hearing the fx are influencing your playing style and and if you have enough tracks. If you have enough tracks there shouldn't be an advantage to "bake" the effects and dry track together, you can't adjust the balance later, you can't use the fx to "glue" the multitracks if you wanted to ...

I discovered a whole thread on the "selected for noise" 2SC828-R https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-and-electronic-music-production/1204244-808-defective-transistors.html I swapped IC chips and 2SC828s a bunch of times and no longer have a pink noise negative offset issue. ...

I would get a banana out solution and since you have an FH-2, I would test it on 1 then 2 channels before you get all that expansion

Re: Yasuaki Shimizu, Mariah and similar Japanese music

YMO itself is probably one of his least interesting projects, and that’s saying something because YMO (especially the overlooked extended-band live material with Yano, Suzuki, etc.) is absolutely impeccable. I got to see Hosono last fall in NYC. Most happy show in a long long time. The band played ...

Re: Yasuaki Shimizu, Mariah and similar Japanese music

Sakamoto follows his muse to where that takes him. You can see post YMO he was looking a bit for direction, seriously tried a far more mainstream pop (well mainstream for him, more genre busting comparatively) thing, then let that go. Around the millennium I get the impression the idea of legacy as ...

Yapoos (mentioned above) for those unfamiliar is Jun Togawa's band (above video with woman on the beach), she also plays solo with backing, guests vocals on a bunch of other artists (Vampillia, Halmens, Susumu Hirasawa, etc.) and the short lived but edgy and indelible Guernica, who created concerts ...

Logic System has a new one a month ago, Technasma, on Spotify. Matsutake has been working again with Mioko Yamaguchi whom in the early 80s made some highly regarded new wave albums that flew under the radar Susumu Hirasawa (I get a mention on the Sony worldwide Paprika OST credits) https://www.youtu...

Re: Yasuaki Shimizu, Mariah and similar Japanese music

I have a site, but it's out of date. http://technopop.info Hosono has mostly been exploring sort of laid back R&B, generally pre-Rock era American sounds for a few years, it's quite wonderful, but he's not really been doing electronic experimental for a while. I ran into a 1980 Shimizu project I can...

Re: Donald Tillman "Palette of Static Waveforms"

Might be obvious to some- Since it's a given when you add harmonics together: Saw is 1/n where n is the harmonic Square is 1/n just the odd number harmonics triangle is 1/n with n squared just the odd number harmonics so he's proposing some more along the same lines "eventooth" 1/n just the even num...

Re: Negative Voltage

I have the Malekko one just mentioned. Since it was a general question on negative voltage too, remember a full wave rectifier will often give you a new waveshape and or frequency. Think about a square wave? (you can half rectify a square) An alternative but not what you asked for is to DC offset th...

Just to chime in after the fact, a clearly longer lead = positive.

Have we ever encountered exceptions/brands when one lead is very clearly longer and is not +?

Re: If a schematic doesn't shoe jack wiring, how do I wire the jacks?

Looking at it, there is no external input, each channel gets an internal +5v you attenuate with a knob. I myself like to check the jack since I tend to mix up what connects to what. I simply insert a patchcord and check the cable tip to the jack solder point and then ring to it's solder point for co...

Re: Understanding Expo VCA calibration

Thanks! What's still totally confusing me is I've seen for instance a Doepfer made graph of their Expo VCA. With a 10v input, 50% of CV (like +5 of +10v) is exactly the 3.164v you mention and makes sense Screen Shot 2020-09-19 at 4.42.22 PM.png But Roland's numbers make it seem I should have that at...

Re: [AVAILABLE] Pharmasonic Series 700 VCO synthCube kits

Thanks appliancide for that build report. I just built two, one from the kit, one with parts I sourced myself. Can confirm, IC10 DOES NOT WORK with the kit supplied LM301AN, the pulse out fails. I had an extra TI brand LM301AP to swap which worked. My faceplates are not perfectly flat but nearly so....

Understanding Expo VCA calibration

For the Roland 704 VCA - The user manual has this this for expo calibration Screen Shot 2020-09-19 at 2.31.31 AM.png So I understand 10v in gets me unity out and how to calibrate that. As for 2, 3, 4 - I'm stumped. Roland calls for a V/dB Meter that I don't have afaik. How would one measure say outp...

Re: Behringer Pro 800, Prophet 600 clone

My first thought is, ahhh they are doing a P600 because it uses software generated modulation = lots less hardware than say a P5. For those who don't know, the P5 was still out when the P600 debuted and soon got MIDI in it's last REV. P600 was far cheaper and not just because Sequential skipped the ...

Re: [AVAILABLE] Pharmasonic Series 700 VCO synthCube kits

I'm comparing a few notes with synthcube and Pharmasonic before I post my full build report. Is there anything people want to hear from this oscillator? Specific patches? I suppose the most interesting things with a given VCO are its sync behavior and how it responds to modulation, so that's what I...

Her music producer is Yasutaka Nakata who has a very distinct style, he first broke in his duo Capsule which sort of filled a bit of the void when Pizzacato Five retired but never had the retro vibes.
